Woah. Good stuff. Hold do you hold the brush with hooves?

There's a space in between the hooves where they fit perfectly.

Edit:
Hadn't realised the cowman had posted after SotK, I was referring to the words of the wolf when I claimed that that is what she said.

Post by: Will on November 09, 2013, 06:41:35 PM
Do you draw often? I'd like to see some of your drawings too! I am too scared to start painting really because I feel I should master drawing first (and therefore proportion and tone) before throwing in colour and texture that you can create with paint. Have to say I'm too scared to draw regularly anyway but that is besides the point!
Title: Re: CG's paintings
Post by: comrade_general on November 09, 2013, 09:05:53 PM
No I can't draw worth a crap. :P

Painting is a lot more forgiving, at least the style that I do.

I like the 5th and 4th from the bottom, The misty effects are nice. The other one reminds me of the pine logging reserves we have here in Tasmania, there's even a similar mountain in the background to the one in your art :) . Nice work.

Merry Christmas Comrade!  ;D

More pictures! You really push them out at an alarming rate. :P
I suppose you make those two as gifts for people who saw that you're a painter and then proceeded to nag you until you said that you'll paint one for them too? :P

They're cool. A bit too traditional for my taste, though.
I like your landscapes so much more. :D
Really nice frames, by the way.

Oh, and still no TARDISes?

I have a conundrum: someone wants to buy a painting, which would be the nighttime, snow, mountain, moon one, but I don't know what to charge. It's a friend who's buying it so I don't want to over-charge, but then I don't want to sell myself short. I was thinking $50?

I have no idea. You could do an imagining of Exilian as a city/landscape (with the Hidden Plaza, street of the clerisy, and one fricken' humongous tavern)  :P

I still vote for a Minas Tirith at some point  :)

The Dimrill dale with Mirrormere could work well. Also Hobbiton might be good in your style. And perhaps Osgiliath?

Also Gondolin would be great.

Thanks, G! Yes those hills are pretty standard for the mid-west. I've done some that are more ambiguous; could be UK, could be Ohio, could be Poland. They all look quite similar. ;) But I have thought about doing small country towns which would really set them apart.

Amongst the tags is one for "kersey", and Kersey turns out to be a small village in southern Suffolk, west of Ipswich. If the photo is Kersey, then it's probably taken from the north, late on a summer's evening.

I think the style of church tower - square, tiered, with corner buttresses - is fairly common in East Anglia, but perhaps less so in other parts of England. Judging by the colour, I think the church is built of flint - again, very common in East Anglia, and very rare elsewhere.

What's the boat mural actually for/about?
Title: Re: CG's paintings
Post by: comrade_general on July 10, 2016, 01:11:14 PM
Local/WV junk. Boat represents the old days of river travel and is one that still exists that they use every so often. You know the guy already. Other side will be a football coach from WVU and the town's courthouse - you can see the actual courthouse by making a 180°. -_- Then the airplane is supposed to be some guy from the town that flew it with one arm. So all in all pretty pictures to look at but rather esoteric in their meaning.

I like it. It's a good way to display some local history - much more visible than a local museum. And it brightens up a probably rather dull town centre.

Post by: Jubal on July 11, 2016, 11:59:06 PM
Indeed - are local museums much of a thing in the US, CG?

Yes definitely. This one is on the side of the local muzee.
