Title: Midlander lower aristocrat
Post by: Clockwork on January 14, 2017, 12:42:53 AM

Ronan Kurtspar

Alchemist/duellist multiclass in his prime. Typical dark haired, fair skinned with his hair kept in a short, messy ponytail but lacking the usual facial hair of midlanders. He keeps himself in shape, perhaps a little more slight than his peers and slightly shorter than average but it's hardly noticeable.

His alchemy has been practiced in secret and as a cliche is seeking the power to reverse death. His hobbies include amateur graverobbing and tax evasion.

I'm thinking he should have fairly level stats, maybe a slightly lower str than expected of a midlander with any spare point put into int/cha/pe/ini/dex with skill points put into cane sword fighting, potion and poison making and some face skills.

Good stuff mate. By the name, I'd say he's what we'd call a Lowlander, which is a sub-class of the Midlander.

I'm putting together all the racial traits and stuff on the character creation thread. Hopefully you can get started on that. I'm also PM'ing you a character sheet tonight. :)

Alchemist unfortunately is still a work in progress I'm afraid. Hopefully you will be able to make some sense of it all.

Cheers,

Well I had some thoughts when I was envisioning this character.

It's the alchemists shtick that they have to prepare vials/grenades/whatever before they go into combat. One of the best items for them could be a rudimentary gas mask; during a fight - let's say for arguments sake it's a duel - the alchemist would make the parry move with their physical weapon for the first action and unstopper a vial with the other, roll d100 for potency and if the result is higher than a certain threshold, the potion was too powerful for the mask and both alch and opponent suffer the effects.

EDIT: Example: Low tier gas mask would be a cloth bandanna (difficulty 30) and a high tier one made by engineer (difficulty 90), gives some great cross class synergy if nothing else :)

I'm assuming the racial traits are optional? If I wanted my lowlander to have quick learner would that be -3 AP (bad acronym, looks like action points :P) on creation and at level 2 he'd take a hit or do you start with an amount? Sorry if this is answered elsewhere.

I think it is elsewhere but I'm pretty sure I muffed up and didn't post it here.

You get 10 AP right at the start. Most races must take a single Racial Trait, but Midlanders don't have to. You also get a free pick from the General Traits, no matter which race you pick.

So taking Quick Learner would set you back 3AP, bringing you to 7 left before start of play.
