Tabletop Games - The Game Room / Killteam
« on: February 24, 2019, 10:28:50 PM »
So, has anyone played?

Debating getting back on the horse of Warhammer, killteam seems fun and fairly cheap as GW goes.

Post your teams / tactics / thoughts.

Tabletop Games - The Game Room / Age of Sigmar
« on: July 28, 2015, 05:44:53 PM »
So I was wondering what warhammer was up to nowadays and OH LAWDY

It seems Warhammer Fantasy is being replaced with 40K lite

Not sure how I feel about seeing a beloved game change so radically (I would say ruined but I can't say that til I try it)

So what are everyones opinions on this??

Tabletop Games - The Game Room / What is going on?
« on: September 05, 2014, 08:31:33 AM »
So I went of the games workshop website for the first time in ages and proceeded to have a look at the fantasy and 40k stuff, just seeing how the prices were and what the new kits are like

Holy armadillo whats happening?

Is there a new fantasy rulebook or is the Nagash stuff just fluff and rules for a new campaign?

What happened to Imperial Guard? Why is it some sort of latin now?

Who are the other guys with like 3 sets and an entire rulebook?

General Gaming - The Arcade / Katawa Shoujo
« on: August 04, 2014, 12:42:32 PM »
http://www.katawa-shoujo.com/ (its free so thats a bonus)

Quote
Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel set in the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located somewhere in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy living a normal life, has his life turned upside down when a congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends—and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right. There are five main paths corresponding to the 5 main female characters, each path following the storyline pertaining to that character.

The story is told through the perspective of the main character, using a first person narrative. The game uses a traditional text and sprite-based visual novel model with an ADV text box.

Katawa Shoujo contains adult material, and was created using the Ren'Py scripting system. It is the product of an international team of amateur developers, and is available free of charge under the Creative Commons BY-NC-ND License.

I'm creating this thread as a place of discussion and also I place where I hope we can post our personal thoughts and feelings about this game.

I first heard of Katawa Shoujo through Reddit, there are many posts on r/gaming of images from the game and the comments of these posts are always full of very high praise for what I initially thought was a rather peculiar if not seedy game. The sheer amount of praise and recommendations of gamers convinced me to download it and give it a go.

Now I do not personally have any fetishes over disabilities so the fact this game contains 18+ images was somewhat putting me off playing it. Once again a returned to Reddit and commentors were very clear in emphasising the R rated images was not a part of the appeal of this game and can in fact be turned off in the options menu.

For my first few playthroughs I went in blind as I was strongly recommend to (and I strongly recommend the same to those whom have never played before) and found myself truly captivated by the story. I messed up a lot on my first try however and ended up with the shortest possible ending (death in fact). For my next try I was more committed to going for a particular girl (Hanako) and ... wow ... just wow ... I had been warned that this game sends you on a rollercoaster of emotions but I had thought it all exaggeration.

The game has IMHO the best writing and storytelling I have ever seen in a video game. This game had me distraught, worried and downright depressed at times, but at others I was laughing and feeling incredibly joyous. There are very few mediums, let alone video games, that have brought out such emotions in me towards fictional characters and that could the very way I view and interact with people.

There are moments in games I will always remember, from receiving my first Pokemon to conquering Europe in the name of Rome. My first good ending in Katawa Shoujo is one of those moments, though I may of only selected the the right answers it feels like so much more than that.

I cannot recommend this game enough, click the link ---> http://www.katawa-shoujo.com/    download, play and come here with your thoughts

Please include spoiler tags around any spoilers (duh)

Which was your first ending?

Who is your favourite character?

Which path did you enjoy the most?

General Gaming - The Arcade / Crusader Kings/EUIV/Vic2 Swap?
« on: March 01, 2014, 01:37:46 PM »
Do you own any of these games? Would you be interested in doing an Exillian swap game?

We could lead the Exilianite dynasty to European supremacy in CK2 (867-1453)

conquer the new world in EUIV? (1444-1821)

Satisfy our imperial desires or create a great communist nation in Vic2? (1835-1936)

Tabletop Games - The Game Room / The Death of Specialist Games [GW]
« on: May 18, 2013, 07:36:33 PM »
so was looking at some mordheim/warhammer forums and came across numerous discussions of Games Workshop pulling their entire specialist games line

http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=113698

from what i gather this means all the existing stock will be sold/scrapped and games workshop will no longer support them

tis a sad time for fans of specialist games but it isnt really that surprising, no new figures for any of the lines have been released for nearly a decade and the rules are largely fan made now too

Rumours / WANTED!
« on: September 04, 2011, 07:46:23 PM »
This is copy of my original post of CTA

As those who read WD (unless you subscribe in which case you will get yours 2 weeks after its release date grrr...) will have seen, there is no 'Next issue' thingy in the back of the magazine only adverts for ogres and a Wanted! poster featuring a Vampire Pirate...

The word on teh webs about this is a potential release of a Naval warfare game (10mm scale) set in the fantasy universe (a la Man O War for you old timers), all very exciting  Details are still sketchy as people are unsure whether or not it is like Man O War (whole fleets doing battle) or a naval heroquest (single ships representing a player kinda stuff).

I will keep this thread updated as rumours come around (or you guys can  )

Mordheim / Where next?
« on: January 15, 2010, 10:21:44 PM »
i have recently developed the urge to create another Mordheim campaign of sorts
i have a few rough ideas but any suggestions are welcome
first idea is that each warband is assigned either a item or character and has to transport them to safety through the forests of the olde worlde or that each warband is defending a wagon [or similar] along a trade route eg empire to Cathay  and the scenarios and trading etc change at different stages in the campaign

Ps. plan on using empire in flames instead of mordhiem
