As the title; what do you play and how good are you?
-
Trumpet; haven't played in years; not the greatest.
-
Guitar, not bad, but not particularly good either.
-
As for moi...
Trumpet (Grade 5)
Piano (Going to do Grade 3 soon)
Singing (Hopefully Grade 5 being done this year)
:)
-
Me? Nothing
recorder and violin when age 10, bt not all that well
-
Nothing unfortunately
-
I don't play any musical instrument, I play the drums.
-
I'll be getting my piano Grade 3 result soon...
-
I drum a little bit, and have a damn good sense of rhythm, but nothing seriously.
-
I've been playing the drums for around three and a half years now, im not to bad at it :P
Edit: Its more like 4 and 2 thirds of a year now.
-
Uh, I wish I had coordination for Percussion... I vainly try to emulate the drum sequences of electronic music loops... it's pretty pathetic when I try to make two different sequences :P
I used to play the violin when I was smaller... got tired when I was like 14, and nothing ever since
-
I've started playing guitar on my own not so long ago... It's not as hard as I thought it would be.
-
I play:
1) trumpet
2) orchestral Percussion (timpani, cymbals, all that lot)
3) tuned percussion (mainly vibraphone)
4) drum kit
5) guitar
6) bass guitar (+kind-of double bass, although I'm not very good)
7) used to do piano
And I have a cornett...
-
Trumpet seems to be the most popular wind/brass instrument, and we have quite a few drummers compared to anything else... interesting.
-
You could make your own band :P
-
I have a Magnum electric guitar that I've been playing for about 5 years now, and an acoustic I inherited from my grandfather. I'm decent with the electric but armadilloe at acoustic.
Oh and I can also play the harmonica. Me and my mates went around busking on the school camp with a harmonica, a small drum and a ukelele. We made a neat stash but mainly from people paying us to shut up. :D

Should try that trade... money for Steam sales could come in handy
-
Necropost :)
It would be pretty cool if Exilian actually did have a band. We could even upload some of it to YouTube xP
-
Try coordinating people from all over the world to do something :P we'd have to record us all on skype at the same time or something
-
I can use my smooth sexy voice.
We’ll call ourselves Hurricane Potato and it shall be magnificent!
-
Or we could have one person make a tune then send that to the next person and they can use some audio program to put them together than send that to the next person etc.
I play Piano. I think I would be a Grade 1-2 ;D Someone in my grade at school is a Grade 5.
-
Im okay at the Violin. Nightangel, if thats at all possible, would you like to do a duet? I have been told that I am not too bad a singing. :)
-
Harmonica solo! :P
-

I would love that. We can be smooth and sexy together.
We will have to both be awake at the same time so that could be a problem, unless we do what Khan suggested.
-
I'm happy to provide vocals, didgeridoo, badly played piano, badly played guitar, or trumpet. :)
-
Awkward didge Jubal? :D
I'd contribute guitar or harmonica. No singing for me unless it's just belting out lyrics like a pub-song. In which case I'm surprisingly good at it, because I'm a armadilloty singing. Much better off shouting.

Hahaha, I cant wait. It would be awesome. Hahaha, Its okay. Im awake at insane hours anyway. Ill be awake :P

I could just make awful banging noises through Skype, Or get an actual recording and send someone a file. but it would be alright if everyone had a piece of music to play. and then they all recorded them playing it and got the timing right and everything, then we could stick it all together in the right places and have something more than terrible :D
-
I would gladly play in a band called Hurricane Potato. We would be the greatest band in the universe. No question about it. :D
-
Trombone - no actual grades, but 8-ish
Violin - gr6
Voice - gr6
Teaching myself guitar and piano
And then can play about 14 instruments to gr3 standard.
-
Pretty impressive! *Bows down before greater musicness*
Welcome to Exilian. :)
-
Wait... I didn't get the thing of the grades...
Oh, and welcome! You might want to introduce yourself in the Welcome Hall, these are a bit of the more "hidden" areas of Exilian :P
-
In UK terms, grade exams go 1 to 8 on most instruments (with diplomas after that, though those are much more serious qualifications).
So I have Grade 5 Trumpet & Music Theory, and I'm working for Grade 5 piano.
-
That's some piece of standardization :P everyone here plays whatever they want to (and the method they please, although this might be a bit biased uniquely on my short-lived violin experience :P )
-
Oh, and DeathNade is mroe than good at the Drums... HE'S FRIGGING AWESOME!!!
-
I'm sorry but I just had to join in ;D
I play the fiddle, concertina, piano, dulcimer, mandolin, whistle, viola, button keyed accordion and sometimes the banjolele.
But i'm the worst person in the world at playing the guitar........I wish i could play the guitar.
I don't really do grades though, scales are sooo boring! :)
-
Nothing yet,but I compose a bit...In my free time... ::)
-
@fez, that sure is a load of instruments you know how to play... I wouldn't be ashamed of knowing maybe the most played instrument in perhaps the world :P I can't play a single instrument of those that you mentioned!
@Skull, what instruments do you compose for? What do you have in mind while you compose?
-
I just had an event for Cambridge freshers - took my jew's harps with me. Best icebreaker ever. :P
-
I use Fruit-Loops to compose some music, it's good for Electronic type music.
-
Took my didgeridoo and jew's harps down to the junior common room last night, interesting times. :P
-
I play piano, I'm alright at it... I've composed a few songs for charity, so I can't be that terrible (nothing major, just local things) but my primary instrument is my voice :) I'm a soprano, and I love singing a variety of things :)
I teach recorder in primary schools, not sure that counts though :P
-
Some Exilian music should definitely occur at some point :)
-
Yeah, we could all hear my awful guitar bringing down all the talented people :P
-
I can add my horrific singing to the mix? :P
I should learn to melodeon.. If only someone would give/lend me one.. Curse you moneies!
-
I am currently sending an email to a man from whom I hope to rent a saxophone so I can learn to play said beast.
-
Woop! :)
-
-
I'd like to finally start learning how to play guitar this summer.
-
I have saxophone. Now I need teacher.
-
Saxophone would be so cool to play :)
I want to learn guitar as well, it's another good instrument for composing songs.
-
Want to learn melodeon so much. So so much.
-
Started learning the basics of playing spoons and bones this week. :)
-
Bones? o.O
Spoonsareawesome

Wheres that laughing lizard picture when you need it?
-

-
Spoons! :D
^ that lizard. I love that little guy :P
-
:o Epic lizard is epic!
-
I don't know if this is the right place to put this but I've been learning this song recently, I like System Of A Down because their songs ( even though slightly metal , which I dislike ) have a bit of meaning and sound pretty darn cool :) .
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LoheCz4t2xc
Of course I'm learning the drums in the song.
By the way this song is about a massacre in China which was covered up by the government, if you were wondering :)
-
Slightly off topic, SoaD are always blatently political. /crawl back into crevice.
-
I'm now learning "Natural High" by Hammerfall. Sounds pretty cool, i think the band is Finnish or Latvian ( not so sure about that :P ).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E5ZL-C5CZE
I've got a guitarist playing with me as well of course, sort of sounds a bit boring with just drums :)
-
Fiddle/violin- reasonably OK, haven't played anything solo and classical for over 5 years now, though I do still play in orchestras and do folk stuff.
I've also got various odd instruments lying around: a bodhran and a hexaharmonica, both of which I need to get better at, and a bombard which I need to get a reed for and learn how to play.
EDIT: Apparently the thing I call a hexaharmonica is actually a Hohner Sextet.
-
Ooh, bodhrans are fun. I was privileged enough to see flook over the summer, the bodhran solo by their guy was stunningly good. :)
Also, welcome!
-
Thanks! Bodhrans are indeed a lot of fun, but I'm kind of embarrassed to play mine given how good a lot of the people I know are- and I'm not sure whether it's my technique or whether the skin is slippery, but I find it hard to reliably get a sound rather than a scrape out of it. Also, I'm not a guitarist and guitar experience makes it easier to learn the bodhran...
-
Never heard of it and I can't be bothered Googleing it. Please enlighten me, what is a Bodhran?
-
It's a fairly large celtic (Irish/Scots mainly) drum;
-
Currently waiting for my piano pupil to arrive, playing lullaby versions of Concerning Hobbits and the Sleeping Beauty Waltz by ear (or trying to :P )
-
I need too buy autoharp strings, but they're expensive and I am lacking in monies :(
