Title: In text adventures, how important is it to be able to scroll backwards?

I've been thinking about this whilst playing around with new options for the Soros UI. It's quite tempting to, instead of having all the past commands/responses showing, just display the results from your last command in a box that changes. I could then show the results bigger, and it might look smoother. But you'd lose the ability to scroll back and see what you'd done previously. Anyone got any thoughts on which of these options is better?
