Post by: Jubal on September 27, 2008, 05:49:15 PM
Go on - post the vast land areas you have conquered in your quests for eternal glory...

I'll upload my two winning campaigns (Brutii and Carthage) later. I have Thrace and Greek Cities ont the way to a win as well.

Parthians are still holdin out, I was fighting the Scipii for a long time (they have gladiator problems ha ha), and the Brutii were just itching to break our alliance.

I was inspired by an article on RTW Heaven that suggests the strategy of relocating your faction to a different part of the map when you first start playing, so I gave it a shot with Pontus and I think its turning out rather nicely:

(http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/comrade_general_2007/th_pontic_empire.jpg) (http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/comrade_general_2007/?action=view&current=pontic_empire.jpg)

First I gathered all my forces and set sail for Crete (as suggested in the article) leaving our homeland to Armenian conquest. Once Crete was under my control I sailed for Syracuse, which was already under Scipii rule, so I quickly ousted them from the island. They thought they could retake Messana with their entire family, but that only led to their utter destruction once their leader was slaughtered. Once the Scipii were out of the picture, I easily took Lilybaeum from Carthage and then gathered my forces once more to invade Italy. I started from the bottom, dispatching the Brutii from Croton and Tarentum, then hammered directly to Rome where I took the city after two heroic victories against Rome's best. The Julii didn't take too kindly to my efforts and sent a few armies down to stop me. Well, as you can see on the map they didn't fare so well.

Now that I have full control of Italy, Sicily, and my outpost on Crete, I can strike anywhere in the world I feel like. In the future I will lead my armies back to the homeland and reclaim it in the name of the People of Pontus!

By the way I always play on VH/VH  :knight:

Nice job, I'd just get frustrated if I tried that.

It was fun, but it started to get a little tedious the farther my empire spread (always the case) so I left that one in the save bin and went forth transplanting the Thracians to Egypt.

(http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/comrade_general_2007/th_thracian_empire.jpg) (http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/comrade_general_2007/?action=view&current=thracian_empire.jpg)

Piece of cake. Same deal with Crete, then stormed into Alexandria. Only took a few turns to conquer the Nile. Money isn't coming so good yet, but its still early.

Nevertheless, onwards to more exploits...

Oh do you like how the little Egyptian man is kneeling before the might of Thrace?  :D The Carthaginians simply look on in wonder.
