Has anyone else found themselves reacting in RL to events on screen? I ask this because I was just pitted as a swordsman against a a lancer in a one on one tournament round. As he charged towards me, I realised that I physically ducked slightly. I don't know how often I do this but if it is frequent I must cut quite a sene when playing M&B!
-
Yep. Happens with me ALL the time.
-
It's a normal response. Normally when someone sees a guy on a horse with a lance charging at them... they duck. Think of it like the Matrix... 'What is real? If it is you can see, touch, taste, hear, and smell then its just electrical signals being interpreted by your brain'
-
Yes it is, but just watch other people play, you notice that lots of people do it.
For example I was looking after a kid while the parents where out, I bought along a PS1 with spyro, just watching him lean over while turning or bounce in his seat while jumping, it just means you're getting so immersed you start thinking the character's you, and your body reacts accordingly
I keep finding myself whispering 'boo' as I sneak up and paralyse people in oblivion
-
It's the whole 1st-person view thing. It makes you think that you're actuallt there. I do also often find myself trying to physically dodge people's attacks and have even let out small cries of pain when i've been hit.
I've also been known to shout "DIE, YOU W***ER" when i swing at someone.
-
Yea, one of the best things about M&B is that it's a good mix, strategic to an extent but also very immersive.
-
I actually play legos with my brother, and this one time i accidently flipped him out of my hand (accidentle leverage) and i actually said "Ow" when he hit the floor xD
-
I keep finding myself trying to spare horses in TEATRC ... I never shoot horses, only their riders ... That's because I love animals (even virtual ones) and I can't help it
Because of that my battlefield is always full of wandering horses
-
I get nightmares when I've played Baby Borns :$

Hell, I care way to much about the game (Mount&Blade Warband)
I see it as my other life. A much better, more exciting and actually meaningful life. I have been known to actually sit in class, thinking of ways I can better my relationship with my beloved king, his Majesty King Ragnar of the Nords. I feel genuine loyalty towards my King. Hell, I think of him as MY King. He means more to me than any other these retarded Prime Ministers we have had to date.
When ever I lose on of my men, I feel so sad and heartbroken. I am devestated. I literally cry out NOOOOOO, when one of my men doesnt make it. It is as if I have lost a friend.
The happiness felt when striking down an enemy is much to strong. I hate my enemies within Warband more than the ones I posses in RL.
It is the same with my viliages. I care for and look after them more, than I do anything in this life. Those viliages and their kind, helpful people mean the world to me.
I wasnt ment to live this life. My favourite life is the life of my character Jarl Stern.
So all in all. I am most probably the strangest girl you will ever meet.
-
Hmm well I did have that friend who used to smuggle rabbits interstate so she could shave them and wear their fur in her hair. As a social experiment she even put 200 rabbits in a room with 200 computers and tried to see if any of them were smart enough to turn the computer on, type a 300 word story (preferrably including wombats. Vicious little creatures) and then eat the brains of any that manage to do so.
Needless to say, she didn't have many friends. The majority she had were lagomorphs.
-
I met a girl who likes her own Facebook statuses and posts new ones every 2 minutes.
Beat that.
-
Hmm I've got a few friends who do that. Its vaguely ridiculous. :D
-
Haha yeah. Teenage girls these days. Hmph. Damn it! Is it sad that my warband life has more meaning and value than my own?
-
Nah. I feel the same way. Except I've got something like 100 characters saved over various mods. So I'm like a massive schizophrenic.
-
Don't we all wish something more fun?
But it takes a lot of work to change your stars.
No guts, no glory. One of my favorite proverbs lately.
-
I've always wanted to take part in a massed cavalry charge. I imagine it would be such a rush.
"Spear shall be shaken, shield shall be splintered! A sword day! A red day! Ere the sun rises!"
Let's face it, the charge of the Rohirrim was easily the maddest scene of all the movies. Don't get me wrong, the breaking of the Fellowship, Helm's Deep and the Black Gates were all great, but the Pelennor Fields was just another thing entirely.
-
Me too. My favorite scene ever.
I can stand still while I watch it.
Black gates are also amazing. The moment when Aragorn turns around and rushes into the mob. Spectacular.
-
Yep, and the Extended Edition Breaking of the Fellowship. Boromir cleaving through Uruks and Aragorn just brawling his way through the forest.
I love those movies. Almost ten years on and I still watch them all the time.
Its an ageless story combined with amazing cinematics and a damned awesome cast. I mean Viggo Mortensen IS Aragorn. No one could do it better.
I can't help myself, but I always get a little teary at the Pelennor Fields. ITS TOO DAMNED COOL!
-
Nawww. Thats so cute. :)

Agreed. I still get goose bumps and well up at the eyes every time I watch that moment. From Theoden's first look at the enemy, his speech, DEATH!, the sounding of the horns, the sunrise, the charge, Eomer's warcry, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for games, I can get very pissed when I lose Total War battles; like Hitler pounding the desk pissed. :P
-
Hahahahaha. I havent played Total War before. Do you think I would like it?
-
Yes. Do it. :)
-
Nein, nein, nein, nein!
Just kidding, TW's good. M&B's better. But only cause I have to say that. I'm a Heteriarch and have a reputation to uphold.
@CG: Give it to us, raw and wriggling. You keep nasty Despotes. ;)
-

I usually shout with the rest of the Eorlingers... Ride for ruin and the worlds ending! DEATH!
-
I. I havent seen them. :'(
-
You WHAT?
...
PG, make her see the films. Also, keep her strapped into a chair while this occurs because I suspect they will blow her mind completely given her reaction to M&B. :P
-
Lol its not a matter of making her. She just can't do it. :D
-
Wait, I don't get it.
-
What the wolf said.
-
I had a very deprived childhood. And I want to watch the extended editions. To do this I must get around PGs house. Which is nigh on impossible. The guy is always too damn busy!! My parents are strict too. Extremelly.
-
Just get it in liquid form, then you can just pump it STRAIGHT INTO YOUR VEINSSSS!!!
-
The only liquid which contains the awesomeness of LotR would have to be Coke. Or molten-hot magma.
-
Ill take the molten-hot magma.
-
STRAIGHT INTO YOUR VEINSSSS???
-
Hey, its better than coke.
-
Anyone else have a screwed up honour system?
As in, don't kill someone while they have their back turned, stuff like that? And I'm about the same as Silver, I try not to hurt the horses. Unless I'm an infantry-man with a polearm. Then you sort of can't help it.
I also tend to get very into it, grunting when I am hit, mourning my fallen, ("Alas, poor Yorrick. I knew him well") and of course the sheer excitement of baiting the enemy. Has anyone else ever tried rounding up enemy infantry as a light cavalry-man? Its a lot of fun just watching the poor saps run around trying to catch you as you run rings around them. Even better when you have some really awesome archers as the enemy is so packed together, your archers can't miss.
I find that I never couch any more. I used to in Vanilla but I tend not to in Warband. It's not as fun as pretty much everything else.
PS: And the best rush is when you go into the 1st Person mode and ride down your foe with a Light Lance or something similar. Its hard but it feels goooood.
-
Hahaha the way you play is so sexy!! The grunting and it feeling goooood!
I completly understand though I know how you feel, sorry, im just a sick twisted little girl.
-
Ok that was unusual. :P
-
But I liked it.
-
This topic disturbs me... :D
-
Hahaha sorry, my bad. ;)
-
im just a sick twisted little girl.
Don't know about you guys, but these words always make me smile.
When I hear them in real life, that is.
-
Hey guys. You see this iron box in the corner? With the internal locking? Knock on the lid if you need me for anything. :P
-
Got room in there? :P
-
Bahahahahahaha ahhhhhh........
-
What did I do this time?
-
Such a guilty conscience there Silver. ;)
-
Sometimes when I look at a picture and there is something half hidden by something I try to look around it. XD
-
Hahaha thats cool. XD
