I'm not sure. Where did we get the magic from? Or did you code it yourself? If you coded it yourself, I say keep it, at least for now. And as for the tree house, that's fine with me.

Just a few suggestions. What do the rest of you guys think?

Post by: dj_chisi10 on May 17, 2009, 01:39:58 AM
NOOOO.WHY SHOULD WE GIVE SOMETHING FROM OUR MOD.WE ARE GONA GIVE THEM SOMETHING AFTER THE MOD ITS RELEASED.THATS MY POINT OF VIEW.IF THEY WANT MAGIC AND A TREEHOUSE THEY SHOULD MAKE THEM BY THEMSELFS
Title: work in progress

they dont want our magic, but they want magic, of course i wont give them the spells from our mod
Title: work in progress
Post by: dj_chisi10 on May 17, 2009, 11:33:26 AM
i say not to give anything until the mod its released.if they want magic they should take it from the same place we took it.lets not start sharing anything until the mod its release.after the mod its released,we shall give them the magic.

I agee with Dj_Chisi10 we don't give anything until the final release is done & then we might release an OSP.
also we might share some of our stuff before the mod is released but they'll have to give us something in return right???

I love the scenery from up there. Are those going to be used for villages, castles or towns? Ellesmera is going to have to be different.

By the way, as I've worked with the chronicles of Talera, I know that their scenes are amazing. I strongly suggest you check the towns of Illorian&Everwatch and the Plane-lords.

|BalamiR| wants the treehouse for the LOTR mod.
Are you serious?

Tell him to get it done himself, he is supposed to be making a LOTR mod, that entitles you to at least TRY to work yourself a bit.

Moochers, moochers...

Anyway, are you guys going to add the option of your race? Like can you choose to be a elf or dwarf or man? OR URGAL! That would be epic.

Also, the models are looking good... as always.
Title: work in progress
Post by: Darwin on May 18, 2009, 06:06:52 PM
not in the 1st version, we need the new brfedit
Title: work in progress
Post by: Sibylla on May 18, 2009, 07:38:06 PM
actually we can add the option to choose between races without the new BRF (at least for elves & humans which have the same body)

BTW can you guys post a picture of an Urgal or a passage in the books where they are described???

EDIT: since the tree-house doesn't slow down the game we could use it in villages (I'll make some other tree houses) there'll be only the problem of climbing stairs which isn't really a problem especially for those who want to role play  :)

Edit2:also Millenium could you please tell me where to find those scenes of chronicles of Talera??

i'm back.but not for to much time.i was out for the week but i made something.dont have screens(maybe tomorow)    i made:
elven armour.not from LOTR(texturing 50%,and still needs rig)
3 bows(2 ready and the other needs texture and animation)
and worked on the dragon(95% done, made a texture, stills needs rig after texturing)
and worked on a elven helmet(not from Lotr).and thats all.
tomorow i'll try to make a Urgal head(do they have big twisted horns?)
and now sleep.bye

The treehouses in villages could have less stairs!

From wiki:

Urgals, or the Urgralgra, are barbaric creatures with a nasty disposition. They are hunters, ruthless, and rude. King Galbatorix (known as "Ushnark the Mighty" to Urgals) employs many of the Urgals. Urgals come in many shapes and sizes. As the Prologue of Eragon says,

WAAAAIT! The second pic Urgals come from the movie, and display the very opposite idea we are looking for! If we made urgals like that, it would cause large unpopularity in the crowds, and after all this mod is supposed to be based on the book.

17 years=end of school=job=moving

how mamy grades :ermm:   have all youre schools? here in romania we have 12.   8 on primary school and 4 on highschool.

transcript?what is that?
Title: work in progress
Post by: Goromous on May 24, 2009, 09:20:26 PM
Haha. Let me explain. I'm sixteen, and I'm moving out of my dads house, into my mom's(they're split up). I'm getting a job, so I can start saving for a car, college, etc. And I mean the end of the school year, before summer break, ya know? I still have two years left. And that's the same way it is here.

And transcripts basically show how good you did in school. Like what courses you took, what your grade was, etc. Normally people don't even need them until they go to college, but in order to get a work permit(because I'm underage), I have to show my transcripts to some school administrator person in a local highschool. (I'm home schooled, which is why I have to do the transcripts my self)

They live in different cities, but it's only about forty-five minutes away.

I don't completely live with my dad, I go back and forth, half a week at each place. Which is why I'm completely in active during the week, generally.

That's also why I'm so damned slow at posting new models :p

My dad has crappy internet, and crappy computers.

in how many days the trial of Max expires
Title: work in progress
Post by: Goromous on May 25, 2009, 02:06:53 AM
Should be two weeks left friday.

I can always download it again(I think?) or use Gmax. I'm pretty sure it's the same(just without the game engine, particles, etc). I think it's basically the modeling version of Max. That's what someone said, anyway. Haven't fooled around with Gmax yet. Gmax is made by autodesk also, btw.
Title: work in progress
Post by: dj_chisi10 on May 25, 2009, 09:12:43 AM
gmax its the same but its different.its a older version of MAX.and yes you can download Max again but it wont work.because of the windows registry,it needs to be modiffied.or you can reinstall the windows after it expires  :D

modifing youre windows reg its not illegal,it is illegal if you share it.that works like a reset function.you delete all the information max wrote in the registry,so when you enter again in Max will be just like in the first day Max was installed(30 days remaining trial)  :P  nothing illegal, just cheating the days  :P

Hello, I'm new here and am starting to do some modeling of weapons. I'm using Maya 2008 and haven't done a lot of modeling (mainly scene set ups with rigs for fun) so this is my first attempt, but it's supposed to be a curved elven bow, I'll start working on the textures tommorow.

Vertices: 405
Edges: 783
Faces: 384
Tris: 798

Not exactly sure what the average rate is for most weapons but it seems fairly low-poly.

I decided not to finish the bow since I didn't want to have to do anything too complicated just yet (the string and animation), so I started working on this axe to continue brushing up on my modeling skill.

It could be used as either a dwarf or Urgal axe but I'm guessing it would be better as a dwarf axe since I'm going to have a lot of stone texture on it.

I haven't really done any texturing before so I'm looking up some texturing tutorials. I was hoping there was a way I could use the textures in Maya (solid fractals on lamberts) and just export them. So I'm going to spend some time looking up how to do texturing.

Does anyone know what the average texture size is for the Mount & Blade items? Will 1024x1024 be too much or should I just keep it at 512x512?
Title: work in progress
Post by: Sibylla on June 02, 2009, 07:55:32 AM
I use all sort of resolutions so I don't think there's a restriction.
PS: native's textures are 1024*1024 if I remember.

Okay, I'll try making high res textures for it instead.

Here's the next thing I'm working on, it's just a sword that could be used for the empire, or I might try making it into a rider's sword if I extend the blade and add jewels to the pommel. BTW, does anyone know if you can make reflective surfaces in M&B?

It might have been something with the UVs cause the mapping is completely screwed up. I finally taught myself how to merge UVs and move them around in the UV editor in Maya so I'm working on putting together the map for my sword.

I'll try with a triangulated mesh and a quad mesh and see if there's a difference.

I need some help with BRF editor though, how do I apply the texture I created to the .obj file I import? When I import the mesh it just appears as a black object.

Okay I got the texture applied, I had to save it as a .dds in the same directory as the .obj. Can someone please open the .brf here and see if you have the same problem that I'm getting so I can see whether or not it's just my computer.

Here's some screenshots of the sword in Maya without any graphical problems. It's supposed to be a low ranking Rider's blade or something like that since the center or the blade is dyed red so it would be for a rider with a red dragon.

yes there is a difference between tris & quads actuallly M&B only supports tri meshes & thats why you need to triangulate evry mesh before importing it in BRF

I have a question about accessing the item in-game. I just put the .brf into the Resource folder then add the load_mod_resource line to the Module.ini correct? Then I can add the item in-game in edit mode? Or is there something else I have to do?

I agree, excellent work. I kinda like them both. Maybe we could have variation in Dragon species?

I have an idea. What about a weakness in the dragon's scale? Or a certain type of dragon's scale? I have no idea how the whole headshot thing works, but if we could use that to make a weakspot in the dragon's scale, that could add a bit of originality to it. For instance, you shoot an arrow and it hits the center of it's chest, boom, headshot, does extra damage. Perhaps you could change the name as well, for instance, you hit that spot and instead of saying headshot, you could say critical hit? Just a suggestion.

I don't know about Wings 3D but if you are using Maya or 3Ds then there's the function Reduce under Mesh menu.
sometimes it gives an error, just use cleanup under the same menu & it'll work.

Tree Houses Eldest page 222 (sorry i got it wrong before)
But what he had taken be clusters of lumpy, twisted trees were in fact graceful buildings that grew directly out of the pines.
One tree bulged at the base to form a two-story house before sinking its roots int the loam. Both stories were hexagonal, although the upper level was half as a small as the first, which gave the house a tiered appearance. The roofs and walls were made of webbed sheets of wood draped over six thick ridges. Moss a yellow lichen bearded the eaves and hung over jeweled windows set into each side. The front door was a mysterious black silhouette recessed under an archway wrought with symbols.
Another house was nestled between three pines, which we joined to it through a series of curved branches, reinforced by those flying buttresses, the house rose five levels, light and airy. Beside it sat a bower woven out of dogwood ad hung with flameless lanterns disguised as galls.
Each unique building enhanced the complemented its surroundings, blending seamlessly with the rest of the forest until it was impossible to tell where artifice ended and nature resumed. The to were in perfect balance. Instead of mastering their environment the elves had chosen to accept
the world as it was and adapt themselves to it.

this took a while to write
Please Thank me   :D
