What are you listening to now? A thread to post your music, and share your thoughts about others. Hey, you might even find a new fav band.
In One Ear-Cage the Elephant
One of my favorite songs atm, I wanna play it on guitar, but its waaaaaaaaay to hard.
-
METAL METAL METAL RAAAAAAAARRRRGGHHH
...as I was saying to my friend the other night...
Also this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtdvoKpLevc) is the best thing ever.
-
I have heard better, much heavier too.
Also: This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9LRo0D_uWM) is the best thing ever. At the moment anyways...
-
Since when does heavier equate to better? I like a lot of much heavier bands, but Eluveitie are one of the most talented and unique bands around in metal. Folk metal has no superior, in my opinion. Also, Eluveitie actually play proper folk instruments, unlike a lot of bands in similar genres who use keyboards etc.
Live version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_UYNpZFzak) is pretty darn good, the video quality isn't great, but if you were there you would know how good they are. I am at the front, somewhere to the right of this video.
-
I voted for rock.. Because I like to listen to Simple plan's songs (they are pop/punk/rock band, I'm not really sure)
-
Pete Atkin is my favourite singer atm. Getting on a bit now, but his songs are so friggin' clever, you could spend a lifetime listening and not get all the obscure references. I'm not much into heavy rock tbh, just gives me a headache. Folk (proper Irish/Scots/English/Welsh folk, not redneck americans droning like planes about to collide) is good, I don't mind jazz, classical is ok (well I don't like classical period classical, but romantic/20th century classical is good), and I like early music a lot.
-
Simple plan : take my hand (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1CXZ7s_z2s)
Promise (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc08COkVKTk)
Vacation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3jpPzhSk4c)
-

-
Killswitch Engage-Breathe life
-
Simple Plan - Perfect (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA2sq3Y7wnY)
Simple Plan - I'd do anything (acoustic) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FH_Qu2SqRo0)
Simple Plan - Your love is a lie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LzCt4Kuxj4&feature=related) - look at that crowd!
Killswitch Engage-Breathe life ---> I like it :)
-
Simple plan are cool =] I have 2 of thier albums :P
Listening to : No rest for the wicked - Cage the Elephant
-
I'm listening to Together Forever by Rick Astley.
Damnit it finished. Replay!
-
other, cause I like a bit of rock, bit of metal, bit of indie, bit of 'alternative' (ie the good kind of pop, not the stupid synth with good looking morons attached)
so yeah other/everything that requires more talent than one moderate singer and good looks
-
I voted metal :D. Once I would have voted Indie or Rock, but nowadays all I listen to is metal, with a bit of heavy rock mixed in sometimes.
-
Indie is just starting to get big here, music, fashion stuff like that. Even the chavs are indie now...
Of corse we were the original indie ^^
-
Iron Maiden beats everything.
And Celtic punk is pretty good as well.
-
Iron Maiden beats everything.
Damn right they do :D
-
Given the categories, I went with Rock because that what most of what I like is. But my music library is all over the place. Stuff like Bob Seger, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Live, Angels & Airwaves, Jimmy Eat World, Our Lady Peace, Linkin Park, KoRn, Nightwish, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Clannad, Ayumi Hamasaki, Yoko Kanno, Martina McBride, Shania Twain, Jewel, Frank Sinatra, and a pile of classical soundtracks such as those from the LotR films, Voices of a Distant Star, Gettysburg, Sleepy Hollow, etc... Oh, and of course Sarah McLachlan. Every lesbian had her entire catalouge issued to her back in the 90s... ;)
-
Wooo! SubRosa Rocks!
Kanye West- Love Lockdown
-
I like too many types of music to vote. But right now I'm listening to the Chilli's album Stadium Arcadium.
-

-

Eddie Van Halen is a god.

-
The Memory Remains (S&M Version) - Metallica
I find that for most of the songs Metallica played in S&M, the S&M version is better than the original.

My song. ;D
Whitesnake - Here I Go Again (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTd8XtZGK_8)
Here I go again on my own
goin' down the only road I've ever known.
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone ...
-
I hear that on the radio just about every other day.
Always think about those lyrics too, cuz I'm always alone in the car when I hear it. (http://operatorchan.org/a/arch/src/a12843_emoticu-Im-Jonathan-forever-alone.gif)
-
It's not that bad CG.
I mean, I like being alone.
I'm used to it. Changing my habits would be really hard for me.
-
Wow, I was trying to find that song Silver, haven't heard it in so long. Its pretty damned good.

Van Halen - Dreams (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bwi8m4SIejE)
I can see clips from the show arranged in my mind like a tribute video or something. 8)

I need an excuse to post this, so um,
Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead or Alive - 1989 Moscow Peace Festival (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VD3pBTK0oA)

That being said, I watched the video she did with Party Rock Anthem. I don't like the song but they actually made it sound alright. I was impressed mainly with the fact that she's dancing and violin-ing at the same time.

Go on and kiss the girl...

Ain't gonna kiss the girl
Ain't that sad

Too bad, you're gonna miss the girl

Winds of change is their only song playing on the radio nowadays (rarely, though).

I still hear quite a few of them actually; Winds of Change, Still Loving You, Rock You Like a Hurricane, No One Like You, Big City Nights, ...

There's a lit cigarette in the hand of my new angel
She's blowing smoke like halos
And now everybody wants her
But I shouldn't even bother
Because you made me so complete, dear
But you left me so alone here
Hang a noose for my new sinner
Somewhere everyone can see it ...

Howard Shore is a god.

This is wonderful music to drive through picturesque countryside to:
-
I'm watching Pinapple express right now and all I can think is I can't believe I don't have any classic reggae! No mr marley for me :(
Edit:
This horrednous tradgedy has been remedied. All is well with the world once more good people of exililand.
-
totally didn't spend today listening to all the soundtracks for star wars episodes I - VI
-
-
today i'm listening to Les Miserables: Highlights from the motion picture soundtrack
shame it doesnt have all the songs
-
Best wedding surprise. ;D
-
This is an incredible video, my girlfriend approves :D .
-
-
-
Anyone else see the movie, and how portugaling awesome it was?
-
Not a valid youtube URL
I haven't seen Skyfall still.
-
Well hello there, VtM.
Back to power metal, symphonic metal and industrial.
And what's probably my personal theme:
-
Oh look! My embarrassing music tastes!
-
To be honest...
I like it very much. :D
-
That would be because it is awesome, friend.
-
;D
-
I am currently listening to.. oh wait, exactly the same thing as last time I posted. I am so dull.
-
-
Safety Dance by what appears to be elves a dwarf and a lot of acid. There was probably a band or something too /shrug
Shout by Tears for Fears
Don't Stop Believin' by Journey
Other than that, In Flames (Clayman), Norther (til death unites us),CoB(Blooddrunk and AYDY)
-
Well, I just took the time to watch Safety Dance. A certain percentage of my life I won't be getting back in a hurry. :P
-
True, but now you'll get around 1% more scrubs references.
-
We can dance, we can dance. Everybody look at your hands.
Also bonus points for Children of Bodom. ;D
-
-
Hey Mr Silver Wolf!
You heard of London Metallers - The Defiled? They've been kicking the metal scene in the ass since 2010 or something, really revived UK metal altogether. If you find something on youtube with AvD remix attached, just ignore it, that guy is piss poor at remixes :P
-
CG, thank you for that. The Doctor Who soundtrack is portugaling awesome. As is the Safety Dance :P
I heard of the Defiled! While I'm not too into the really heavy stuff myself (I like to stick around Metallica/Megadeth levels of heaviness :P ), I do actually like them, or at least what I've heard.
-
Yay! I've been following this band since they started so I like to promote them when I can :)
I like that it is actually proper melodic death metal like CoB or Norther but slower, though they can pick up the pace when they want.
Megadeth have some absolute classics as do most of that era of metallers. Wizzard are also pretty good, like a German Megadeth to my ears.
Even anyone who doesn't like metal will love a few Metallica songs, I think it's a testament to their epicness :D
-
Agreed.
Metallica's S&M live album kicks ass hard. Really hard.
I also like melodic death metal. I'm familiar with CoB and Norther, but my favorites are Eluveitie and Wintersun.
Orgasmic.
Some of my other favorites are Cradle of Filth, Tristania (during the time they still had Vibeke Stene) and Blind Guardian.
Blind Guardian has a special place in my heart because they got me into all of this.
I've heard of the Defiled before, but I've never really had time to dive into another maniacal metal spree.
Until now. And they sound promising.
Will have to wait for the next week after the exams are over in order to dive properly, though.
-
/bow Thank you so much! Those guys are awesome, youtubing everything they have as I write. Ensiferum are also good but the problem with them is that they have 8 or 9 standout epic tracks then the rest of it can't match up.
Wintersun are old favorites though I've not listened to them in a while.
You get into Bodom with the new stuff or old? Apparently theres this big fight over which is better as the styles are so different. Personally I've only really listened to the newer stuff, I have all the studio albums but the older ones didn't grab me as much with the exception of a handful of great tracks.
End of Innocence is my personal favorite by The Defiled, one of the 'softer' but the lyrics are just so cool.
-
Just to clarify, you don't mean this Wizzard do you?
:P
-
hahahahahaha, yeah wait until 2:03, the double bass pedal kicks in and it turns into mass slaughter xD
Edit; Maybe with 1 'z' then my playlist might be lying :)
EDIT 2:Try Iron War by Wizard, though Iron, Steel, Metal is my fav song by them :)
-

Honestly, I have no idea. Children of Bodom are one of those bands which I listen from time to time, so I don't know what's new or old.
I believe it's the new stuff.
-
-
Sabrina - Boys (Summertime love)
though it is mainly due to Michelle Jenneke DAMN!
-
-
Burn, by The Webb Sisters
-
The Small Print - Muse
-
Game of Thrones Theme - Ramin Djawadi
-
-
-
Such a great song, Brian Molko is so awesome! :D
-
Just the best thing EVER!!!
-
Sarah Jarosz, recent rediscovery - kinda bluegrassy folky stuff, reminds me of a lot of the music around Firefly. :)
-
Oh hells yes.
-
I remember that song. ;D
- - - - -
Grunge is not dead. :)
Raping that replay button like a mentally deranged ex convict.
-
Some days you need this song when you get home from work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSo-_TavE1U
-
That song is nothing short of lyrical genius. :P
And another classic band from my even youthier days: step up Blink 182
-
-
Favourite song by Metallica.
-
Good choice.
That's also one of my favorites. ;)
-
Thank you Silverwolf.
Also for your consideration the best of KoRn and Coheed and Cambria.
Sideshow Bob in the 2nd vid is obviously compensating for something...2 necked guitar...pff.
-
Penny for the Preacher - Jon Boden
-
So.. how much am I a terrible person? :P
-
Rob, I see your double-neck and raise you a triple-neck. ;)
Though Richie Sambora is amazing, making that guitar, by extension, epic.
-
Yeah he's a great musician. Now....where to find a 4 neck guitar....
-
I raise you 6. Completely impractical and nigh on unusable, but there it is. :)
-
8
-
I'm afraid they cheat CG by using more than one person to play it, and I think you'll find the first neck is a mandolin and 2nd is a uke. Good call though :D

Irrelevant!
-
Fair enough :P
-
This has been in my playlist for some time now. ;D
WE EAT RIBS WITH THIS DUDE!
-
How I have missed Weird Al :')
-
I also remembered that song a few days ago. :D
-
russian ska/punk
-
-
STOP MAKING ME WANT IT TO BE THE 50TH ALREADY!!!!
And it includes his speech at the Pandorica? Sorry, just off to watch season 5 again...
-
Weird-Al.. All of the Weird-Al..
I have also listened to all of Emilie Autumn's music today.. not sure what to make of it to be honest..
-
I love Emilie, especially Opheliac. One of my favorite albums. I loved every song from it.
Can't say the same about FLAG, to be honest.
And Laced/Unlaced is just great.
Oh and did you listen to "Gloomy Sunday"?
And what led you to her? Please do tell me, you have no idea how much I like to hear those things. ;D
-
When I say I listened to all of the music, I meant all of it. From all of the albums. ALL OF IT.
Most songs I sort of vaguely quite liked/ thought were interesting. The overly theatrical style of it, while interesting, rapidly gets slightly grating (Youtube videos of the rat game are just ridiculous - not to mention the ENDLESS screaming). Songs which stood out to me were Opheliac, Thank God I'm Pretty, Marry Me, Miss Lucy Had Some Leeches.. I think there were some others.. I liked listening to the classical violin bits quite a lot.
Various friends + overly obsessed people im internets + the FRACKING AWESOME style of dress + interest in Victorian asylums/women + unhealthy obsession with costume dramas.. about sums it up.. [I'm just a little bit weird]
And yourself?
-
I found her music after watching REPO! The genetic opera and Terrance Zdunich's blog. Apparently Terrance and Emily are good friends, and he linked her music in one his blog posts.
That was more than a year ago, I believe.
Oh and your interests are pretty close to mine. :P
Did you try other dark cabaret artists, like The Dresden Dolls?
Even though Emilie's genre is Victorian industrial.
-
Sounds like good fun. A whole year of joy and wonder.
And that, my friends, that is because they are awesome interests.
I have not, I shall look them up at some point, I'm sure.
-
Refound this beastly track from Daron et Scars on Broadway. Medium rock, not heavy but still awesome :D
-
I know that one. :D
It's pretty good.
-
-
Of all the epic music mixes on YT this is one of my very favourites. :)
-
Sleeping Dogs has some awesome songs on the in game radios
-
Good listening for my latest poem :P
-
Slipknot&Stone Sour on shuffle. Turned up to 11 :D
-
And who are you, the proud lord said,
that I must bow so low?
-
That song <3
-
I had no idea that this song was played by Darling Violetta.
Felling a bit nostalgic.
-
Three absolutely phenominal songs by Stone Sour:
-
:D
-
-
This film :D <3
-
Literally everything from Plan B.
-
-
Killswitch Engage! This Fire/ Holy Diver/ Start Again.
Plus a little viking folk metal.
Drum and Bass! Boom.
-
No, no mate. This is drum and bass: :P
Old Pendulum kicks ass.
-
-
^ have you seen her LotR one?
-
Yes!
^ Have you seen her Assassin's Creed one?
-
^ ooh, I'm not sure *goes to look up* :P
I love the Skyrim and Game of Thrones ones as well :D
-
My girlfriend really likes her. She can play the violin really epicly. :P
-
Listening to my sci-fi playlist, currently on some Two Steps From Hell :)
-
I used to love listening to that, a lot of it sounded a bit repetitive though. :-\
-
Some soundtracks never get old :D
-
+1
-
I want to cover this sometime, SotK says I should add in the missing verses and elvish though :P
-
Can't believe I've never seen this before. I was tempted to post it in funny videos. :P
Super Reagan Awaaaaaaay!
-
My most memorable Doctor moment was the night I watched The Leisure Hive. The episode started with the usual opening sequence that wasn't much different from when the show first started - but then! - at the end of part 1 The Doctor is seemingly ripped apart by the tachyon thing and he screams right into the new sequence which ended the episode and I just sat there all wide-eyed. Then came youtube. 8)
-
I wasn't even alive ten years after that!
-
It's the best sequence imo followed closely by the current one (because in the background you can make out the shape of the Enterprise ;D).
-
I don't like the neon sign, I have to admit. And prefer the current music. :P
-
Few songs of these guys are on repeat, nice sarcastic lyrics in a few songs and 'Bullet' has to be the most cheerful song about suicide I've ever heard.
-
She's brilliant. Very talented, singing sense (some of the time), unreasonably attractive..
-
Burn the land and boil the sea... :)
-
All of the BvB. They may try too hard to be metal and sort of fail but Andy is one beautiful man. :3
-
G.O.O.S.E.B.U.M.P.S. :o
-
So so good for sea music.
-
Good old Flogging Molly...
-
Pity the quality of the recording isn't great, but the Who theme sounds very cool indeed on a Dulcimer.
-
-
Reminds me of the 90's :D
-
It's a darn good album, so is the song. Curiously, the name should be named "There", as it seems that the singer's pronounciation (I don't remember his name) was the only reason they named it "Dare".
I personally love the different tempo's Roots Manuava is capable of handling, as well as the instrumental being just darn good. This album just gets better the more time passes and the more your music taste develops
-
Gorillaz! I love their music so much! Supper Fast Jellyfish FTW!
-
-
Pity the quality of the recording isn't great, but the Who theme sounds very cool indeed on a Dulcimer.
My father's neighbor once got some trees from said father to make into Dulcimers which are then being sold at the local music shop.
True story. :P
-
I wants one. :P
This is quite cool stuff.
-
Paramore ftw.
-
This is a really nice mix :)
-
Woad to ruin.
http://youtu.be/dRNkodKpZ80?t=5m
-
I really hope NA (or CC) shows up and sees that we still love him so! xD
-
;D
-
*tear
-
Nice, meanwhile:
And
-
You a fan of Ensiferum toml1000? :)
-
Yeah I've got a few albums :) I've got too much music and not enough time to really give them all a good listen :( ever listened to týr? They've got some epic songs :)
-
Sick beats man.

-
Yeah I've got a few albums :) I've got too much music and not enough time to really give them all a good listen :( ever listened to týr? They've got some epic songs :)
Fo sho. They are pretty awesome :D
Usually I'm more of a fan of Norther/CoB style but I like the more folk metal types too. In Flames are the bee's tits though :P
-
Never heard of them, I'll give them a listen tthough :) you listen to any regular metal or hard rock or death metal?
-
Yeah, fan of some of metallica, slipknot, the defiled (if you haven't heard of them; go do it xD), a7x, bullet for my valentine were ok I guess, I like black veil brides too despite owning my own set of testicles. Plus loads of others. Et tu?
-
One word from me.
Eluveitie.
-
Yep, got all of that apart from defiled and eleuvite? I listen to some stuff like Pierce the veil, asking alexandria and some rap djent like hacktivist. Also stuff like enter shikari who are awesome live but defy a single genre. Other bands I like include hadouken!, abandon all ships, crossfaith and hopes die last, it all depends on my mood though. Also check out skindred its ragga metal (reggae metal) which I think is sick (I'll link when I can) :).
-
Folk time! :P
-
Some sweet choices there Tom! Check out the defiled though, best songs are End of innocence, black death, ressurectionists, metropolis imo :D
Also, got to respect the classics, I give you the drug-addled Ozzy Ozbourne in Black Sabbeth:
EDIT: Btw Rob Zombie ftw the guy is nuts but still, creates such tunes as
EDIT2: Iron head is one of the best, it's a collaboration of Ozzy and Rob xD
-
Sounds good, I'll be sure to check them out :)
-
*emotional outpour* :')
-
-
The Dresden Dolls - Thirty wacks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0xxUfWC5b8

I love her. The John lewis ad she sang for was so good, love Keane but she freakin nailed it. Such a fanboy xD
-
-
Only a few people here will understand it, but what the hell...
I feel like posting this, but I don't like posting stuff on Facebook.
S.A.R.S. - Lutka (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8Ms56gX-Tc)

Oh and youtube isn't linking in correctly :(
-
I saw you! :o
-
Are you sure? Even I can't see me.
-
Totally saw you.
-
Oh armadillo, I see myself now :O
-
Because Simon & Garfunkel are awesome?
^ This.
-
I haven't listened to those two for quite a while.
-
A masterpiece:
America - Simon & Garfunkel (http://youtu.be/ZO3gWIGzH3A)
-
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - The Curse of Millhaven (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACG9wv69bKU)
Btw. Youtube video links are broken. They have been for quite some time... The question is why?
-
I've pointed this out already but nobody has got back to me :(
Oh and fun tune btw :)
-
Explain?
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zLfCnGVeL4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zLfCnGVeL4)
Half to test, half because we all seem to be into Simon and Garfunkel at the minute :P
[EDIT] Hmm, interesting...
-
Take off the 's' from 'https'.
-
That works!
-
(http://i3.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/001/987/fyeah.jpg)
-
Don't know why it dislikes https, but that does seem to be the solution.
-
I have that album somewhere... used to always listen to them. :P
-
I have that album somewhere... used to always listen to them. :P
Listen again!
-
Fleetwood Mac - The Chain
Youtube link didn't work for some reason but check it out anyway.
-
Check out this song from my mates band, I think it's sick :P
https://soundcloud.com/maverick_101/forest-of-doubt
-
Yes that was quite disgusting. :P
-
Did it make you puke in your mouth?
-
I just threw up, in my pants, out my butt.
-
-
Youtube links not working? Nope just my incurable dumbassery :D
Still busy with all kinds of rainbow coloured armadillo but hey.... Here you guys go, great song :P
-
This whole channel is pretty funny. :P
-
Can't say much for the fashion but it's got Hagrid in pajamas playing violin and the message is sound. :P
-
-
If I had a theme tune, this is one of my top candidates. :)
-
I've been enjoying this a fair bit lately. Come With Me Now - The Kongos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz2GVlQkn4Q&feature=kp)
-
Loving this band at the moment :)
-
I'm being retarded atm and can't post yt links. Check out Get Up! Skrillex ft Korn, not usually a fan of dnb but the hook is awesome :)
-
I was going to fix it for you. :P
-
Lol ty, what am I doing wrong? I've been able to do it fine for ages :(
-
If it has 'https' in the link just remove the 's'.
-
Ah ofc, thanks. :D
-
-
Applauded..I think that was one of the first vids I linked here those many (few) months ago :D
Not a fan of these hippys in general but this song is pretty good :D
-
Hippies?? These are hair metal rockers dude! :P
-
Haha, perhaps, hair metal I usually equate to Deff Leopard, Lynard Skynard, Steel Panther; GnR, Rage Against the Machines as hippy nonsense :P
Redoubled love for these guys after a great night out
-
-
-
-
-
Just passing through, admiring your taste in music.
-
A good one Jubal. ;D
-
Awesome wolfy :)
-
Also this version.
-
Honestly, James Blunt is just a delightful human being. So damn charming. ;)
-
Love that tune Jubal. Sadly i know all the words to the rains of castamere. Could listen to the GoT soundtrack all day long. The stark one is probably my favourite though as its so sad.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVVXH6nBCaA
-
I see your knowledge of all the words and raise you the guitar accompaniment as well. ;D
-
Very nice. We could make quite a team and go around singing the bear and the maiden fair. Guess i would have to be able to sing.
-
Sing this one:
-
Those lyrics would take far too long to learn. :P
-
-
No, sing this one:
Fixed link. - CG
-
Hell yeah!
-
Listening to some Pete Atkin today :)
-
Didn't happen unless there's a youtube video.
-
-
-
SO. DAMN. CATCHY.
-
ITS SO GOOD :)
-
(I am a dwarf) :gimli:
(And I'm digging a hole) :gimli: :gimli:
-
Better than The Hobbit.
-
The Hobbit would be infinitely better if they were digging some holes. :P
-
Pretty much the best song ever. Urge you all to give it a listen ;)
-
SO GOOD.
-
-
Tune cg! :D
These guys are awesome, and this is possibly the awesomest of their awesomeness. This song it literally impossible to hate, it's just too catchy :P
-
Defo a classic. Ah the 90's...
-
I know right, born '92 but oh well :D
But I actually love most of their songs :S
EDIT: MOAR! MUST HAEV MOAR!
-
Someone managed to find ANOTHER genre to do GoT in!
-
One of the better ones I've heard Jub.
-
Best female lead in a metal band. Properly heavy stuff and original songs, great vocals too.
EDIT: Plus just look at her, she clearly loves to be on stage and loves what she does and it looks amazing in front of the crowds :D
-
The <3 Files
-
Halestorm are sick, Alestorm are better :P
-
:D
-
Indeed, some of my mates saw them live before I started going to gigs. :(
-
Mlllrwggghhhhhrrr! World of Warcraft in-game band :P
-
It's awesome even if I know very little of the WoW universe outside of hearthstone.
-
'I am king of the sea, not a queen like Aquaman!'
Add 'Rob' #2644 and I'll game you a game sometime :)
-
I'm unbelievably bad at hearthstone but why not. :)
-
Back to music
Sabaton - Heroes
Amazing album!
-
I'll give you some tips if you like, reached rank 12 last season so I'm not great, but not too bad.
On topic:
My favourite track from one of my favourite bands :D
-
This is hilarious ;D
-
I'm a big fan of nintendocore / video game rock as well as traditional metal.
My favourite guitarist is 331erock, who does TV, Movie, and Video game themes in a metal style. Here's some of my favourites:
Halo meets Metal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6lA8zIFT7o)
Skyrim meets Metal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDE2VQzghp4)
Ken's Theme meets Metal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QufjiIU4oGQ)
Guile's Theme meets Metal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHMcG5hBXkY)
Ryu's Theme meets Metal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrPnCY54ICQ)
Transformers meet Metal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQnuD1jxxOQ)
Star Wars meets Metal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvep1WaUmOM)
Ninja Turtles meet Metal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoOMfrOn-nk)
Others:
Goukisan - Battle Song Loop (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJUBm18z90Q) - My favourite piece of video game rock.
Ultimate Showdown (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WgT9gy4zQA) - Hurrah for 2005, the only song I can sing.
-
That guy is awesome, my favourite unsurprisingly is:
-
Saw them just last night!
-
How are they live? :)
Also this for me:
-
Pretty darn incredible! All the support bands were also pirate themed, although the second two were much better than the first guy.
Also I do like the new theme :P
-
Where did you see them othko?
-
Academy 2 in Manchester, which is thankfully pretty close to me :)
-
Quite a nice compilation.
-
Behold the source of my soiled pants as a young lad.
-
After a pirates movie marathon decided to play a little Empire Total War... Had this playing as my fleet was massacred. Was awesome.
-
-
For fans of Killswitch Engage. I'm sure Silverwolf will like Maria if not her music, tattoos and super weirdness abound in the bimbo-metal-pshyco package that is In This Moment:
I'm 99% sure the rest of Exilian will not enjoy this but to the 1%: Enjoy :D
And then check out Comanche and Violet Skies if this was your thing, both great songs as well ;)
She also has a few songs that sound much more bullet for my valentine-esque such as Beautiful Tragedy.
-
Such a good cover. The video is really well made, if you can name all the games shown, you can have a cookie. I got almost all of them but there are a few I have no idea. Really want to know the ones at 0:39, 0:42, 1:38
-
I love this at the moment. :)
-
Okay this song is awesome. :)
-
I fully agree.
-
It is indeed.
This is also pretty cool:
-
My personal song of the week, excellent lyrics, great vocals from Welsh band Bullet for my Valentine.
Next song of the week, since I was last post I'll just modify this one
Can not get enough of this crazy ass chick. She is simply amazing.
-
So retro and relaxing and synthesized! I love it.
-
With this: http://www.rainymood.com/ playing at the same time. I love this game. :)
-
Reminds me of this thread. (http://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/ca4bl/time_to_get_classy/)
-
-
Medievalish music always feels kinda Christmassy to me :)
-
Because.... Nah I got nothing.
And one for Jub in his state of illity, Recover by Welsh band The Automatic:
EDIT: They're called Automatic Automatic in the U.S apparently.
-
-
Billy Talent and Cherokee Elvis. I'm not sure that's his actual name though. He's pretty decent on guitar though, I'll give him that xD

MOONQUEST :D

Yogscast, were my introduction to youtube commentary, but i've moved on to far better things but respect them highly.
This is my go to song of the day, nothing else can get me hyped.

I listened to Metallica's live album S&M today. It's been a while since I last did.
-
Anyone here listen to area 11?
-
I listened to Metallica's live album S&M today. It's been a while since I last did.
I also love it. ;D
-
That was pretty awesome SW :D
Dear future,
I bought you. I own the rights.
-
Can I just bring peoples attention to this:
Its a straight up cover, no rock added. Did not know the guy could sing like that, okay so its not exactly perfect or as good as the original but hey.
-
Folk music of the day. Lau are fantastic :)
-
No 21 year old should be this hot. Its insane. Music is awesome as well. Talented girl, she also acts and does modelling iirc.
-
Was just wondering how you were doing. ;)
-
Been alternating between videos on guns and...umm with guns.
-
-
Listened to some bellowhead earlier this evening.
-
-
-
Best song by LP imo, yeah I know they're old news but ehh, vaseffer. Wish they did more in this style.

Freakin A BIS :D

What did I do? :ents:
-
The link, good choice matey ;)
-
I'm a bit of a progressive/djent nut. :)
-
One day I will manage to populate Exilian with more folkies. Until then I will just occasionally spam up this thread with folk music. :P
-
I enjoy me some folk every now and then, it just happens to be crossed with metal more often then not. :D
-
I tend just not to naturally go for things that have too heavy a beat behind them, I guess. I can deal with them if I'm feeling really good, but often I just find I've not got the energy for them.
-
-
Managed to spend a lot of the day listening to a track called "Sancho Panza gets a latte", mainly because I'm using it as a character theme in ForgeFyre.
-
I tend just not to naturally go for things that have too heavy a beat behind them, I guess. I can deal with them if I'm feeling really good, but often I just find I've not got the energy for them.
Noble and manly music invigorates the spirit, strengthens the wavering man, and incites him to great and worthy deeds.
-
Heavy rock and dubstep may be manly, I'm less sure about noble.
THIS is noble and manly:
-
Yes, yes it is.
-
More music should have actual cannons in it.
-
-
I have earworms - tracks which get into my head, and have to be played on repeat, internally or externally, for several days, until my brain decides it's bored and wants another one.
This seems to be the current one: "Never" by Hooray For Earth
The band seem to have a fondness for slightly unusual instrumental effects and harmonies. This is another one of theirs, "True Loves".
I like the track anyway, but I think it's particularly worth watching for the video. The story in the video doesn't seem to connect to the lyrics at all, but it's full of imagery, some of which I've worked out, and some that I'm still trying to understand.
-
This one is trying to compete as my current earworm: "F is for Faker", by Team Me.
I hadn't heard of the band before YouTube autoplay shuffled me onto this track a few days ago. I've tried some of their other tracks, but this seems to be the only one I like much.
-
While I'm posting here, I thought I'd introduce Lord Huron, another band you might not have heard of. I suspect they'll appeal more to Jubal. These tracks are my favourites, all from their "Lonesome Dreams" album.
Ends of the Earth:
Lonesome Dreams:
Ghost on the Shore:
Lullaby:
-
I've been listening to this a lot lately:
-
-
-
Love you too, man. :P
-
90's moment was real xD
Something more unusual from me. Stumbled across this cover while browsing the yoobs. Nothing Else Matters and sound of silence is done well. Losing my Religion was not. it's all rock/pop covers in a...idk... some sort of theme. Favourite one is Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I thought that one was amazing :D
-
Much epic, very fantasy, so musical, wow :)
-
:doge:
-
Indeed :P
-
Loving it! :)
Since most of you people are fans of orchestral music (including me) I was wondering if someone knows of a royalty-free track similar to this one:
I've been looking for something similar for my project for a very long time...
-
This isn't a reply, I have no idea where to find what you want.... This is a good cover though, Skyfall cover is great as is Blank Space. The actual album songs are mostly good but can get a bit similar if you listen to them on repeat for 3 weeks because gee-whiz, good gravy, oh my oh my, they're just so darn catchy. Still, great songs, lead guitar is hawt, what more can you superficially want from a pop-metal band?
-
A bit of a contrast (and it seems to be my current earworm) - some 1980s nostalgia, "Brilliant Mind" by Furniture.
I could post a lot more 80s tracks, if there's any interest.
-
One of two bands I think sound awesome when they're not live and awful when they are. Marilyn Manson is the other. Though Johnny Depp might turn up to randomly play guitar for you if you see Manson live. Which I guess is a plus. Still. This is a great song, portugaling awesome riff which actually is probably the only thing that sells the song but hey it's just that good.
-
Started playing in my head this morning, and that's okay.
-
Such a good song, OLN are slowly becoming a favourite.
-
I think this is an example of better than the original, despite how much I love Bowie. Playlist.
-
I should really get a music player. I'm out & about a lot currently and my portable playlist is just me humming and singing to myself, which I'm pretty sure most people think is weird as hell and may get me lynched/picked on/shived one of these days.
-
Because just completed another playthrough of it.
-
-
-
-
Bam 3DG outta nowhere. Old 3DG anyway, Adam Gontier left afaik.
-
CN2?! It's been almost 4 years!

4 years? :o
-
Crikey.
Welcome back. :)
-
-
I'm going to see Sabaton in February, great band!
-
Then you'll love this! ;D
-
Addicted to this song right now.
-
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMFgSlJzOCg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMFgSlJzOCg)
I love this song.
Slight contrast to the Kung Fury number :P
-
Love how this one is like a modern rehash of the old fighting games.
-
-
I know that version better than the original :P
-
I think I can do both versions from memory. I should learn the guitar part really...
Also today:
Simply posting because the title of this makes me happy. :P
-
My two current earworms:
X Ambassadors: Renegades
Grimes: Flesh Without Blood
NB. Anyone with a dislike of gratuitous blood might want to not watch the video from about 2:20 onwards.
-
This is great :D
-
-
Apparently everyone and their mum is listening to this for some reason. One hell of a cover.
-
Yeah, I thought it was pretty well done - it was faithful enough to the original not to sound like it was murdering it, but took a different tack that suited the vocalist fairly well (Simon and Garfunkel didn't actually vocally express much of the anger that's actually very, very present in that song, whereas he does, though on the flip side this guy doesn't make the quiet bits as haunting as they can be in other versions). :)
As for me, my working (or failing to work argh argh argh) music:
-
His vocal range is fantastic though and his version has more... love? in it I feel than a lot of other covers (and the original actually). David Draiman has an incredible voice especially for a metal frontman, no doubt about that.
I always like a line I heard a while back:
'I didn't know you can sing!'
'...I was a frontman in a punk band. portugal no I can't sing.'
And here is the best of Disturbed in this fans humble opinion:
-
-
Great track :D
-
portugal me sideways with a vinyl why has it taken me so long to google this song? ??? ?
Sounds better than the original as well, they did the instruments but Brie sang. But if you want to check them (Metric) out have a similar sound and are actually pretty good.
-
Video is really cool as well. Everyone listen to this song it's goddamn amazing, had it on repeat for 3 days :D
-
And another not metal song....What is with me at the moment??
-
-
Just brilliant. Loving this band. Why is synthpop suddenly good? Who did this to me?
-
Why is synthpop suddenly good? Who did this to me?
You have found your inner 80s child :)
-
Lol G :)
imho probs the best by prodigy
-
Meanwhile, I continue to find my inner bearded shorty:
-
12/10, south wales rock band. Only really love this song but it's so great :D
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX1wPLjPhlc)[/url]
-
Damn that's pretty good!! :O
-
I know right! Chorus is catchy as hell, sounds so great :D
And who knew draco malfoy was in a band? :P
-
-
Vid is odd...I think I like it though.
-
Liking this Dirty Youth more and more. Never thought id say that.
-
Glad you like it gmd :D
Sounds like Muse.
-
Yet more metric. I'd have usually switched bands by now.
-
This is just a fantastic song, I absolutely love it. So I'm posting it again.
EDIT: I've listened to it just on repeat for 2 days, I don't even know why. Just love it.
-
This soundtrack tho.
You can skip to like 1:30.
Not sure that I like that youtube videos are now centered.
-
Finally switched bands. Halestorm again, still great.
-
Yes, not sure why the centring...
-
Spoke too soon. Goddamn it. Completely different from their other stuff, much more electronic/synthetic. Still fantastic.
-
Bit of an earworm this one:
-
Back to my emo metal bullarmadillo! Although to be fair I haven't listened to Bullet in a while. They're still pretty great though. But then again I've not got past being 15.
-
Re-discovering this album, which has some nice songs on :)
-
I goddamn love this guy and his covers! Prepare for more links in typical Rob style obsession.
And I feel heavy metal!
And I'm pins and I'm needles!
Well I lie and I'm easy,
All of the time and I'm never sure why I need you!
Pleased to meet you!
-
I'm a gangster from eastside.......Norway!
-
Coyote Kisses - Six Shooter
If you're reminded of Chuck when you hear this, it's because it's from Chuck.
EDIT: And the artwork is lovely.
-
These guys are pretty good :)
-
-
*E
You know what I mean. ;)
-
I do indeed :D
I'm not sure which of us would be which character though :P
-
Best song on the album imo. Sheeeet imagine being in that crowd. Must have been so portugaling sick! Never saw them when they had Rev but I'll see them sometime 2018! 4:00-4:45 best bit :D
-
-
That's a really great sound! Never heard of them before, going to check them out.
-
You can thank gtav. :)
-
Yeah half the comments on all their vids saying: here from gtav and half saying: omg gtafags gtfo xD
-
Double post!
Sheeet, yeah I think I'm a weeb. Still, they are pretty awesome. Kind of like a Japanese Muse?
-
Heather Dale does some amazing fantasy/folk stuff :)
-
More Leo! (gay lisp) He's so talented!
-
Despite how much I love Adele and the original, Leo absolutely nailed this one and I have to give him props. This song reminds me yet again why I love music:
Edit: YouTube link fixed
-
This one has some great lyrics even it's only half a great song. Middle is fantastic, start and end are meh. Still ends up being great just due to how great the middle is. Might see if I can edit it myself.
-
Jubal used Blast from the Past!
It's super effective!
-
This typifies Eurotrash rock but hell is it catchy :D
-
You gotta promise not stop when I say when!!!!!!
-
I wrote a chemistry themed parody of that once with no1 Croat fan :p
-
Almost pretentiously cool. Still, a really great sounding song. Kinda jazz/groove/rock mix. Like a lot of mid-late 00's songs but still....
-
-
Whatever that is: no way man, no way xD
-
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-aaa-aaah! Blblblblblblblblb-ah-ah-ah!
-
"Indietronica"
-
I really love this song. Looking forward to seeing the film too.
-
This is gorgeous :)
-
I sing, and this is actually one of my favourite videos on the internet xD
Anyone else think Malukah is somewhat reminiscent of Nightwish?
-
No idea, as I've never listened to any Nightwish!
This is a nice story:
-
New Nightwish? Don't think it sounds much like the old singer but then that could just be me :P
-
It's not too late, it's never too late!
Emo as portugal, don't give a armadillo.
-
Been listening to soundtracks of DW - mostly to block out the loud and terrible music that someone else in this block keeps playing until 10pm...
-
Hello Rise Against, my old friend...
-
This is fun and rather mad :)
-
-
-
Warning, contains an accordion:
-
Why does that require a warning? :P
Kris Drever (Orcadian singer/guitarist) did a gig near me on Friday so I got his new album, it's very good. The guy's mostly known as an insanely good guitarist, but he's also one of the better male vocalists in the folk world at the moment.
-
This ends up being an average cover because while the girl is a fantastic singer, the dude just doesn't have the right voice for this. Think english is not their native language either, which makes the speed of the lyrics difficult for the dude so that could account for his problems. They're actually spanish.
Still, girls voice is amazing, the playing is great and the video is shot well even if the firekickboxingdancing is odd.
-
Jubal - as currently powered & brought to you by continual mugs of tea and the Doctor Who soundtrack!
-
Legit one of, if not the most powerful voices in rock: Lzzy Hale. And given how much rock/metal I listen to, that's really saying something.
-
From the guys who brought you "What does the fox say".
They're actually amazing.
-
Would love to be able to play this.
-
I did a few grades on piano, never gelled with it particularly though.
I now have this stuck in my head:
-
I now have this stuck in my head:
That qualifies as the most surreal minute or so of the day by quite a long way - indeed the most surreal minute of quite a few days. I have some hope that I will not feel the urge to watch it again.
-
Do you know the original that it's based on, or were you starting with even less context than me?
-
I've just seen the horse one. That one was weirder. Zombies>Horses.
-
I really like this song, grim as it is :)
-
Dreaming that I'm, dreaming all right!
Do we, do we know?
When we fly,
When we, when we go,
Do we die?
No idea what that means but whatever; catchy as hell- SOAD.
-
Hell yeah! Great song from a newer album (Hail to the King). Thought I didn't really like that album for a while but it actually isn't half bad. Newest one is pretty bad though.
-
Still love Halestorm
playlist (makes this thread easier to find)
EDIT: portugal this, what's wrong with this link? I'm an asshat.
-
Possibly the best band from Oz
Debate as you will
-
Possibly the best of Slipknot, especially in the heavier era. Riff is portugaling great, vocals are clear if not clean and the rhythm is one of their best.
-
"We try to just stay alive, it's not too late, it's never too late"
Unfortunately this is me atm but hey, I'll turn it around.
Anyone that want's a portugaling deep convo about depression and all that, message me. I'm really struggling atm. Don't feel you have to, I'll bounce back in time; always do.
-
I do alas know the feeling :( Give me a shout if you need someone to talk to, I'm usually around!
-
Thanks Jub, I'm working through it ;)
Hell yeah, bit of Metallica!
EDIT: Oh sweet jesus this goddamn classic -
-
<3
-
-
This is a rather lovely version of a Tolkien poem set to music:
https://soundcloud.com/adelemcallister/song-of-earendil
:)
-
Yes I'm predictable. portugal you.
-
I am duly portugaled.
-
Sorrrr
She does a great acoustic cover to a phenomenal song. Wish Sum 41 did more like this tbh.
Original if you want context
Great lyrics, intonation and heart. What can I say, I'm a sap ;)
Oh and the opposite, great riff in the middle, rest of the song is terrible:
Warning - Contains ridiculous, gratuitous brutality. This is without context....Though I'm not sure that always helps tbh.
I sometimes like to think that I'll one day mix these great metal riffs with clean vocals and a better melody but I never get around to it.
-
Am I beautiful as I tear you to pieces?
Am I beautiful?
Even at my ugliest you always say I'm beautiful.
Hell yeah, In This Moment!
Aaaannd a retake on a Blondie classic, love the original, love the cover:
-
Such a great song, favourite atm. Placebo have had such a lot of great hits but I get the feeling that not a lot of people listen to them :P
-
Do they have a lot of great hits, or do they just write neutral songs that get you to *think* you're listening to a great hit? :P /placebojokes
-
hahaha :P
-
Great band. Great rhythm as always from the exceptionally talented Billy Talent.
-
I love the soundtrack to the new Beauty and the Beast adaptation. Shivers every time <3
-
I need to find more new music. Anyone come across any good folk/filk lately?
-
This. Just listen to this. Not folk, just like old people awesome.
Buzzcocks: Ever Fallen In Love With Someone
EDIT: Although don't trust my music taste, also been listening to Arctic Monkeys:
EDIT2: This is a decent cover:
-
I've been listening to a ton of Malukah recently. Really lovely voice.
-
Malukah is awesome! Didn't know you were a fan :D
Song about vikings riding thunderhorses. Pretty srs stuff, makes you think.
EDIT: Contains graphic images.... I mean all images are graphics I think but like....What the back of the box says and all that.
And again because it's awesome, Slipknot - Duality:
-
I am definitely a Malu fan - do you ever watch her twitch streams? :)
I'm mostly listening to lots of lute music at the moment, I really am a parody of myself sometimes.
-
No just YT, got into her from her Skyrim covers :D
EDIT: Would not surprise me if one day you up and left civilisation to live at a Renfair :P
-
Are there any permanent Ren faires one can just go live at?
(Asking for a friend :P )
-
Not that I know of, you can tour with some though and live out of tents or RVs/motorhomes.
Still loving Dethklok, so dumb, great riffs.
-
Just been listening to this. Now I really want to get a theremin...
-
This is the song I listen to after every tragedy. I haven't shared this with anyone tbh because I just found it was my own thing but anyway it makes me hurt in all the right places. You all know my thoughts on each time this happens, how sorry I am that this occurs and how I say I'd go to extremes that most wouldn't because it makes me so mad initially. But anyway: Placebo's cover of Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill
-
Yeah, music can be super good for emotional processing of things, whatever works for you :)
Found this recently, pretty awesome hurdy gurdy player:
-
-
Let's be honest, like, dislike, indifferent to Bieber, it's a great song:
-
Not as great as yet moar hurdy-gurdy :D
More seriously, yeah, that song is good easy listening. I guess I'm quite lyric-heavy in what I want out of songs but even I will concede it's perfectly workable background music, there's not much there that really grabs me but there's maybe something for everyone in it at the same time.
-
Ermergurd. This song is so portugaling good. It perfectly blends notes of Offspring, Bullet, BVB, A7X new and old with a great classic metal theme of drink, be yourself and have fun combined with a heavier message of a eulogy for James 'Jimmy' 'The Rev' Sullivan.
Seriously, without a seconds thought if I had to pick one album to listen to for the rest of my life - Hail to the King. So many good tracks.
-
I've recently started following Post modern jukebox on Youtube.
It's a bunch of different artists doing jazzy covers of all sorts of popular songs.
If anybody likes that sort of thing, I highly recommend it.
BTW, here's one of my favorites:
-
Personally, I'd suggest this one's their best:
You're welcome ;)
-
obvious thing about more cowbell.
-
I have a headache, so going with this one as it's rather calming:
-
This song has so many layers, it's absolutely fantastic. One of my favourite songs of theirs and I think perhaps one of their best technical works, the background is so evocative, it feels like it goes somewhere and has an intangibility to the sadness of it. So great.
Dethklok - Galaxy
-
-
Had this stuck in my head a lot recently:
-
Lately, there is but only one album for me there.
calms me down, allows me to work. a stable land amid crisis.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWGCEDYJAZ4
-
More hurdy gurdy! :)
-
I'm currently in a constant Lana Del Rey kinda mood.
-
I think Adele McAllister's Tolkien music is excellent, been re-discovering that recently:
-
Aaaaand I'm in love:
-
Since it's Friday* here's a cheesy fin-rock hammer I'm enjoying very post-ironically.
It's got fireworks and everything.
* If you don't happen to live somewhere that has Easter bank holidays or don't work Monday to Friday, please read: Thursday
-
We should really make some sort of bizarre mashup Exilian playlist of our 100 favourite songs or something at some point. It would be musically incoherent given none of us like the same genres, but it'd be kind of fun. :)
-
Nice idea. Would it be songs from this thread? Or maybe some fun democratic submission process where people can submit 5 songs as a poll then you add the top 3 or something...
-
I've lately been singing this to myself a lot...
-
Terrific version of jolly swagman / waltzing matilda by Tommy E.
-
It's time again for Tusky's famous* Friday song!!
This one is go by public service broadcasting. It's great, and comes from an album I highly recommend to anyone who likes the likes of daft punk or lemon jelly.
Enjoy!
(Was very tempted to post this in Space yays (https://exilian.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1696.msg119264#new))
* Not very famous
-
I've been stuck in my 2008 emo phase for the past decade so the only bands I consistently listen to when I'm looking for music are Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and Panic! at the Disco. Would recommend Gerard Way's breakaway album 'Hesitant Alien' because personally I really love it. Only good songs from the recent FOB album (in my very humble opinion) are 'Last of the Real Ones', 'Young and Menace', and 'Wilson (Expensive Mistakes)'.
-
When the movie you are writing a paper on has only one song in the soundtrack running on loop and you get it stuck in your head... Have been humming/singing this all day...
-
One of my old theme songs, for sure:
-
The above two vaguely American/Western themed choices/videos led me back to re-listening to An Ecstasy of Gold. It's one of those pieces that never, never gets old, I think:
-
Brilliant soundtrack from a brilliant movie. Brilliant.
-
This one's going around in my head a lot at the moment: "Voyage", by LEMMiNo.
Found originally on this other video, neatly matched to some fascinating footage of a wave on the shore:
-
I've lately been singing this to myself a lot...
:O I love singing this one, but it does tend to make me cry. I think it was the first song I ever performed in front of people (outside of school, anyway) too. I was about 7 :')
-
I keep meaning to learn the guitar part to Streets of London. It's a really nice song.
-
I think I have sheet notes for piano somewhere those usually have guitar chords on them as well... I was trying to play it on the harp, but AMSND kind of got in the way with Titania's Lullaby and things...
-
One advantage of parental visiting occurring, I now have my actual guitar stand so it's not taking up half the sofa so much of the time :)
-
The ladeez probably melted when they walked in and saw it laying there tho.

The ladeez probably melted when they walked in and saw it laying there tho.
Unless they are a stickler for tidiness. Then I should imagine they will instead melt because of it being stored correctly on a stand.

Hunter by Marnie, on a spotify playlist I have called "focus" :p
-
-
-
I very love this
-
Watched Spectre again yesterday.
I don't know this singer, but I can't get the song out of my head, and more interestingly this would be the vocal ranges I would sing at if I did much singing.
-
Yea good song. Sam Smith is a great singer.
This is a track with some lovely vox that get stuck in my head. Also great keychange @ 3.30:
-
It came up today and now it's stuck in my head...
-
I like it :D
-
In complete contrast to the last track, here's a sort of oriental / power rock song someone recently put me on to.
I loves it. Great production in the vid too.
-
Lovely new song by Belgian veterans hooverphonic with their new singer.
The last third of this vid is shot in Brighton where I live!
-
I may be visiting Brighton in September :)
Meanwhile, pirate bagpipes because why not:
-
That's a pretty cool version.
I may be visiting Brighton in September :)
Oh wow cool - if you do pay a visit let me know!
-
Can't get enough of this
-
Bulgarian lyrics, kinda catchy and reminds me of the Witcher 3 soundtrack, only remade for clubbing (not a blunt weapon reference).
I don't know how I managed to miss this thing before.
-
Soundtrack from the most recent part of the "Yorkshire Gubbins" game universe (Yorkshire Gubbins is an AMAZING point and click which I love to bits).
I have this really badly stuck in my head so I thought I'd inflict it on you guys :)
-
I quite like this
-
-
Van Morisson - St. Dominic's Preview
-
Lovely song
-
This is sooo- catchy.
-
I still absolutely love this soundtrack (which tbh outstripped the quality of the actual show by miles):
-
-
Love that song :)
Happy Synthwave Friday everyone!!
p.s. If you like that song the whole album is tremendous
-
Happy epic soundtrack Friday everyone!
-
Just discovered another really good folky-gaming-covers person on YouTube - lots of cool bouzouki/banjo/misc folk instrument versions of Witcher, Skyrim, etc songs :)
-
I love it!
-
I very much love listening to game OST while developing, and one I absolutely love is the Sunless Sea OST :
-
I very much love listening to game OST while developing, and one I absolutely love is the Sunless Sea OST :
I do that too! Good suggestion, will add that to my list :)
Here's an amazing singer doing a (better) cover of a nightwish song. I very love it
-
IN SOVIET RUSSIA, SONG COVERS YOU
-
-
Oh I haven't seen that thing in years now!
Thanks for reminding me of this. :P
-
haha. Yeah I'd seen it ages ago and came up in my suggestions thread - I think because they updated it for the latest season :aragorn:
-
Just discovered another really good folky-gaming-covers person on YouTube - lots of cool bouzouki/banjo/misc folk instrument versions of Witcher, Skyrim, etc songs :)
Just so you know I have listened to this loads since you posted it
-
Oh gawds, that Russian march is awesome!
Going a bit retro with my OST choice for today, starting with Dune 2 - epic music :-)
-
Happy bagpipe and flute metal Friday everyone!
-
Another recent Gingertail cover - I actually quite like listening to good lyrical music where I don't understand the lyrics, it makes for better background when working :)

Today is a lot of business development stuff, so I like to balance that sort of thing with a nice calming soundtrack :-)
( The awesome thing with the quake cd is that you could stick it in a cd player and just listen to the music, it was quite mindblowing as a child :-) )
-
Having a binge on Carolina Eyck's stuff, which is great:
-
-
We think any of the armadillo we're living means anything? It's been done before! And it meant something then!
-
Heidi Talbot's Bedlam Boys is excellent:
-
Stumbled onto this artist - Positively Dark. There's so many flowing beats and melodies I just get lost in each one of their songs. They remind me of classic game background music, a la Donkey Kong or Command & Conquer.
-
Love the Positively Dark song, will definitely check them out
Happy disco Friday everyone! This is a certified banger
-
Happy folk metal Friday Exilipeeps :)
-
The Mongol folk metal you didn't know you needed today.
-
This is an odd one for me: a piece of classical music - Erik Satie's Gnossienne number 1. It's haunted me for nearly 40 years, since it was the intro music to a now little-known James Burke documentary series on the BBC, "The Real Thing". Today, by a combination of serendipity and modern technology, I finally found out what it was.
-
onuka - intro
-
This one's for anyone wanting to brush up on their Glaswegian
-
I'm sure I've posted the Fiechters' albums before, but they're very good background noise:
-
Here's a catchy goth rock song
I think the singer is behaving in a very un-gothlike fashion here; having fun and splashing around in the water.
-
-
Something random that I thought was kinda cool, cellist/lead is apparently German/Peruvian:
-
Bellowhead time!
-
A superbly upbeat 80's song.
And yes, Jubal, it's because it was in an Ernest movie. :P
-
I kinda know the singer/hammered dulcimer player in this (we've not met in person but we're FB friends). It's a nice piece :)
-
A bit of Canadian... well, whatever it is:
-
Not played this game, but I'm enjoying the soundtrack:
-
This is AMAZING and excellent:
It's the fact that they take the song so incredibly seriously that absolutely makes this cover. Given I rarely like growl-vocals, I have to say this is nonetheless a 10/10.
-
Not really a recommendation so much as the curious fact that if you search "wololo" on YouTube you now get this Kenyan pop song (not my genre but I guess it's fine) along with all the Age of Empires priest videos (in which, for the uninitiated "wololo" is the chant they make when converting an enemy unit to your side), which were what I was actually looking for... but more amusingly, the video includes the singer's costume changing from red to blue and back again in the middle; I can't tell if they're making an Age of Empires reference or not but it feels weirdly coincidental otherwise!
(Also, someone should remix this with the AoE wololo).
-
A very accurate song about Irish pubs:
-

Loving it! :D
The original is still one of my favorite D&D-themed Youtube videos.

Today's serendipitous discovery, from a shop's background music.
-
Listening to more Heather Dale, and this one's pretty good:
-
This song is quite lovely
-
I keep wondering about trying to do a cover of this:
-
I really like this one:
-
This is a very moving video
-
This is a very moving video
Yeah, that's very powerful. I had to read the explanation in the comments to get the exact story it was based on, but even without it, ooft. Very well produced, and fits the music very well too.
Meanwhile, more hudry gurdy:
-
This one seems to be my current earworm. Note that the video includes a lot of sudden movements and cutting between images, so you might want to just play the soundtrack.
-
I've rediscovered my love for radiohead's emotional draw and been listening to their albums on repeat. This song has always struck such a feeling with me:
-
I've been listening to Radiohead a lot too these days...
Also, I rediscovered this. Hard to believe this is a Slipknot song.
-
love that
-
Been having an Irish music day :)
-
I was yesterday years old when I re-listened to viral sensation of 2007ish, Chocolate Rain by Tay Zonday, and re-appreciated that it's actually a really rather serious and quite powerful song about racism and not really the video we giggled at thirteen years ago. It's worth a listen: there's a sort of odd trance-like quality to the repetition.
-
A pseudo-medieval cover of "What is Love", the funniest thing I've found in a while :)
-
Nostalgia hit.
-
I've heard a lot of covers of "The Wolven Storm" - I think it's probably one of the most covered videogame songs on YouTube - but this is a particularly good one, my favourite of the instrumental covers I've heard.
-
Got a bit emotional at this one
-
I don't know Naruto at all but this pseudomedieval version of the theme is enjoyable:
-
This is fun - an Israel-based folk ensemble that specialises in North African tunes.
-
I don't know if it's just because it's a voice I grew up with so much, but I suspect will always think that Judy Collins is one of the best singers I've heard. The clarity and power are just absolutely what I want for ballad-type songs.
-
Has anyone played any of the Divinity: Original Sin series? I'm sort of tempted to try them solely because the soundtrack is good.
-
I played divinity 3 which didn't blow me away if I'm honest. Very pretty and quite fun though.
(I enjoyed Skyrim much more ;) )
-
This may have already passed the radar of those on this site, but there's a great "bardcore" scene around on the intertubes at the moment, converting popular music into a more medieval (I expect ahistorical) style. At any rate, this channel has taken things a step further, and redoes the lyrics in (apparently) period-correct languages and dialects, creating some of the best things I've heard musically (possibly just in general) all year.
-
Oh, yeah, the bardcore stuff is glorious :)
Meanwhile I've been listening to some more Georgian music:
-
Big nerd music squee:
-
Placebo - post blue
-
I've been enjoying Hades, and one thing I have to say among a number in its favour is that it has some absolutely cracking songs:
-
After having been bombarded with sub 60 second clips of this for months, having a full length version is somehow really really nice to give the song a sense of a closure!
-
This cover of one of the Skyrim themes is lovely:
-
It's an evening for something with a bit of twang I think:
-
It is a moonquest day.
-
New band recommendation is Cantica, who only have four songs on YouTube but the vocal melodies in their covers of Sera Was Never and Empress of Fire are really really nice.
-
Yet more varied international takes on Dragon Age music - a Ukrainian cover of The Dawn Will Come. :)
-
Here's a multinational jam with a cat that I found quite nice
-
YouTube's "Bardcore" bard, Hildegard von Blingin', has done I Need A Hero, and it's rather good - the animation is very nicely done!
-
Today, sea shanty doom with Heather Dale among other things:
-
Seemed right for this evening, in a heartbreaking way.
-
Having a Sarah Jarosz sort of day music-wise:
-
I don't post much folk on here but it's an important part of my influences/listening diet so have some Nancy Kerr & James Fagan:
-
Really enjoyed this Slovenian folk music I stumbled across while failing to find a video of a specific C19 Slovenian song:
-
This is quite a touching song I stumbled across recently
-
Neat :)
I like this piece a lot:
-
From one of the games around which Exilian was formed - a very nice folksy cover of some M&B: Warband music.
-
I've probably posted this before, but oh well, it's one of my favourite pieces of music:
-
Happy 2023!
-
Happy 2023!
Happy new year! May there be many more songs this year :) I think in this thread I sometimes especially appreciate the stuff that's way out of my usual wheelhouse musically, it's interesting & helpful to get some variation added to the musical diet.
Anyway, my first entry of 2023 is what I think might be one of the all time great songs about generations and life direction:
-
Some rather mesmerising music played on the Kokles, a Latvian folk instrument - the musician who made it stayed with me in Vienna once a long while back.
-
Don't think I've posted any Coope, Boyes and Simpson here in a while if ever :)
-
I enjoy how slightly unhinged this one is:
-
Here's a bit of symphonic rock!
-
Here's a bit of symphonic rock!
This is good! Which is mostly to say, I feel like I'd really enjoy a folk cover of this, but I do quite like it in and of itself :)
-
I have a lot of nostalgia for Leonard Cohen's Live in London recordings with the jazzy backing stuff: I think it sets off his vocals much better than some of the stuff with thinner arrangements, and also it was what I was listening to a ton in like 2010-12, so it brings back a lot of memories of trying to put together badly made Green Stuff models or paint Warhammer after school in my mid teens.
-
Much more metal-y than my usual, but this has a very fun core tune and has really badly earwormed me today.
-
This is quite interesting. Steve Wilson (from porcupine tree, blackfield & various solo projects) was challenged by a friend to come up with a Christmas song. He said it was not something he could be happy doing. So they got chat GPT to write a seasonal song in the style of himself. He wrote and performed some music for it
So This is a collab between Steve Wilson and AI, pretending to be him
him explaining the context https://youtube.com/shorts/BakIyOkJD-M?si=ukM-cJj-KryQd2KO (https://youtube.com/shorts/BakIyOkJD-M?si=ukM-cJj-KryQd2KO)
-
Hm, that's interesting :) Though I'd need to know more of his work to see how good a job GPT did.
This is the Christmas earworm at my end:
-
Nice! Here is some very nice & skillful guitar
-
I may have posted this before sometime, but it's a track I really love. Hammered dulcimers are great, and I think it's a very pretty tune - I could see it being a really good game character or incarnation of the Doctor type theme.
-
On a bit of a Judy Collins & Joni Mitchell listening run recently. The clarity of Judy Collins' voice is really quite something (her "Albatross" is another of my favourite ever songs, though I like this one a lot too).
-
Been listening to some Pete Atkin today:
