Title: Post your computer specs!
Post by: SaidaiSloth on September 02, 2012, 06:26:14 AM
Post your PC specs here!

Use this format:

OS:
OS Version:
Hard Drive Space:
RAM:
Processor:
Graphics Card:

I will start with my armadilloish pc
OS: Windows
OS Version: XP Media Center Service Pack 2
Hard Drive Space: Started with 186, now 154
RAM: 2 GB, 46 MB
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUS)
Graphics Card: ATI ASUS EAH 5570
Title: Re: Post your computer specs!
Post by: Cuddly Khan on September 02, 2012, 10:10:11 AM
OS: Windows
OS Version: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
Hard Drive Space: 74.4
RAM: 1024MB
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Graphics Card: Intel 82945G Express Chipset Family

I really shouldn't have installed Windows 7. With only 1GB of RAM it makes my computer run really slow (Window 7 requires 2GB).

Kind've, it means you can't figure out whether you can play a game or not. :/

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83 GHz
GFX: Nvidia GTX 260 896 mb
RAM: 6GB DDR2
HDD: 1TB

Wasn't the best when I built it, but not bad for £960 in 2008, including a 22" LCD monitor and cheap HP printer.

Well, that's nice... :D
I'm curious about one thing. When you play M&B and/or Warband, what's your battle-sizer setting?
How far can it go before crashing to desktop?

I was thinking about upgrading my PC a bit, since RAM goes cheap these days.
I still have my old PC:

OS: Windows
OS Version: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Hard Drive Space:  500 GB
RAM: 4GB
Processor: Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Graphics Card: GeForce GTS 450

So what do you guys think?
I still have room for another 4GB. Would that make any difference, especially in gaming?

Windows 7 system rates it this way:
- processor speed and RAM with 7.1
- graphics 6.9
- Hard disk 5.9.

Title: Re: Post your computer specs!
Post by: comrade_general on March 08, 2014, 03:39:42 PM
More RAM is always good, I have 8GB. Can't really do anything about the hard disk rating.

Mine is rated thus:
processor/RAM 7.5
graphics 7.4
hd 5.9
Title: Re: Post your computer specs!
Post by: Silver Wolf on March 08, 2014, 04:02:52 PM
I know. I'm not concerned about HD.
I just posted it because it was there and I wanted the list to be complete.

I agree. More RAM is always good, but what I need is a significant difference.
I'd rather save the money for something else if that difference is minimal.

Quite impressed my comp can still handle most modern games despite being about 5 years old now. Not on max settings any more, but still pretty. :)

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking about a week ago and I came to a conclusion that the hardware requirements bar wasn't raised much in the last few years. For example, a few years ago when oblivion came out, my old computer was barely able to run it and it was lagging like crazy. I had to buy a new computer to play it on medium requirements.
Title: Re: Post your computer specs!
Post by: Death Nade on March 23, 2014, 09:25:23 AM
Next gen games are starting to come out, most computers wont be able to handle them on ultra. In fact even if i wanted to i'd have to buy a new graphics card/s.

I recommend upgrading your GPU sometime soon, the GTS 450 is kinda old now, and is really low end. and after that, your CPU and motherboard

Then start worrying about RAM

I just built a new PC out of some old parts -

Core i7 2600
Radeon HD 6850
8GB ram
2TB hard drive + 128GB SSD

Be posting testing results and such soon.

3D Mark completed!

Ice Storm - 102462.... it is intended for ultrabooks and phones / tablets

Cloud Gate - 14427 - over double the score of a gaming laptop and over half of a GTX Titan + i7

Sky Diver - 8184 - this time I was beaten by the gaming laptop, but I think it's because of it using a AMD A10 with decent integrated graphics (very good, in fact), which was crossfired with a high end laptop card.
Still pissed though.

I am here to announce that my long-serving computer, Hex, is finally retiring due to running out of storage and having a graphics card that just can't keep up any more. I'm working on setting up its replacement, to be nicknamed Mankana. It's by far the most expensive piece of tech I've ever purchased, but I'm excited about not having to be juggling things between drives all the damn time and about being able to play newer games and run Docker environments and stuff without the maching breaking a sweat.

I went with PCSpecialist on CrazyOC/Ivy's recommendation, and the resulting specs are:

Core modelElimina Pro Series: 17.3" Matte QHD 165Hz sRGB 100% LED Widescreen (2560x1440)
Processor Intel® Core™ i7 14 Core Processor 13700H (5.0GHz Turbo)
RAM 32GB Corsair 3200MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 16GB)
Graphics NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 4060 - 8.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
Storage 1TB core drive, 4TB data drive, both SSDs

So yeah, looking forward to getting it into use. Unfortunately I do have several hundred gigabytes of data to move first...

Looks very good indeed.

I need to do the same thing very soon TM (probably by the end of the year).
I'll be going to go for a very similar setup, but I'm most likely going for a data HDD instead of SSD to save some money.

So yeah, looking forward to getting it into use. Unfortunately I do have several hundred gigabytes of data to move first...

I did a backup of my data drive today and I had to make 620 gigabytes of space on my external SSD.  :P

Despite all the high specs on this machine, Baldur's Gate 3 still gives the fan quite a work-out! It's not the best optimised game ever, I think...
