RIP to the 92 or more people who appear to have died at the hands of an extreme rightwing christian fundamentalist in Norway.
Do people think that tragedies like this are avoidable by better planning? What are your views on the political dynamics?
Horrible.
Also, my parents have heard that the guy plays Warhammer. Is that true?
I haven't seen anything on that - by "the guy", you mean the killer?
If so, I certainly haven't seen it reported.
Yes, the bomber.
Turns out that my parents were wrong, as usual. I've done a bit of research and it looks like he was a World of Warcraft player.
Yeah, blame the video game, not the society, as usual.
To be clear, I'm not saying that this isn't horrible, I'm just saying that they always blame the video game. That's outrageous...
I blame religion. :P
That's a fair point there CG but I have to ask, Jubal what exactly do you mean by better planning? I mean how does the government of a country plan for a tragedy such as this in a city where the death-toll is usually ten per year? I mean the street I live on has a death-toll similar to that. (I am of course not being completely serious here.)
So how exactly does the government plan for some psychopathic nutter devastating downtown Oslo? And then gunning down kids on a school excursion. Restricted line of sight? Bulletproof vests on all school children?
Just hope Avian from Warseer's alright. Pretty sure he lives in Oslo. Definitely in Norway.
RIP.
EDIT* Just realised, I do not blame religion, nor the computer game. I blame the guy. There's real evil out there guys and some people are just unhinged enough to listen to it.
I wonder if he listened to Heavy Metal......does anyone know if he did?
I don't think music makes a difference... listening to Electronic music doesn't make you a drug addict.
I also hate when people blame video games... my parents did it all the time (although they were right on the fact that it did waste my time :P )
You see that is the thing buddy. I listen to Heavy Metal and well, Metal gets blamed for everything. Its not the music that turns people like that, they have to be messed up enough already.
My mother doesnt believe that though, she once said to me,
"Im going to have to start sleeping with the the light on, just in case you come to slit my throat."
And that was just because I listen to Heavy Metal. Its not fair. I know for a fact that many Heavy Metal bands come from Norway, so I was wondering if they had blamed them yet.
I should probably mention Ladyhawk is a bit different from the majority of girls. Not too much. But a bit.
I'm sure you're mother was joking. Anyway, my mother came into my room while I was sleeping one night. That was creepy. When she woke me up, I asked what she was doing and she responded with, "I'm going to cut your hair."
Scary...
I love punk rock. What am I supposed to be? Some kind of aggressive-social-outcast-drug-addict or whatever?

Rejoice! Her plan was to cut off your hair, not your manhood.

Yes. Yes you are. :D
And mate I'm still worried. I have to condition myself to sleep with one eye open. For me, my hair is almost as important as my manhood. Well not quite. :P
I can't help but think we went off topic.
@ PG: Im sorry to say buddy that she waa not joking, she hated me for it. And just slitting a throat is no fun, there is no imagination in that :) Oh and stop lying, Im more than a little different mate.
One more thing, the cutting of your hair is now a serious crime. The punishment: Death.
@ SW: Yeah we did lol
I listen to folk music, so goodness knows what that makes me in popular perception terms...
A classical English cowboy robot?
A tea-drinking Trireme?
