Title: Generic Site Direction & Ideas Thread
Post by: Jubal on October 02, 2011, 11:28:15 AM
Yeah, some input would be nice...

Essentially here's where we are.

The Channel: Is going well, but we need to think better about how to pull people onto the site via it.
Gaming sections: Kinda dead most of the time.
EG: Township's nice, but not much else occurring.
RTW: 3+ active mods. Definitely worth keeping open, though I'm wondering about integrating the workshop.
0AD: Needs expansion and we need to get plugging our stuff for it more.
M&B: Little to no activity, and just had a very pissed off PM from Ealabor pointing out that the password protect doesn't work and basically asking us to shut his stuff down:
Spoiler
Jubal,

There's been a serious loss of integrity after the swap to new server.

For one I cannot log in with my old account, perhaps the old one is no longer valid?

Another being that the developer forum I have for my mod here is no longer password protected, which was the sole reason I sought out this forum to begin.

A concern in itself, but when a dispute took place between myself and a former contributor to the mod, he took the opportunity to grandstand, and cast allegations against me using the now open developer forum as a weapon to attack my credibility.

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,178976.15.html

I never made any request to any admins to publicize that forum, nor was I notified in any form about it being publicized, not that I could have been informed without access to my account. Maybe this is the first time someone has brought this to your admins attention. Seems the old forum still asks for password, but not the new one.

Whatever the case is, I'd like to close the chapter with Exilian. I'm not too concerned about recovering my old account, but would rather have the forum locked up from public access, maybe some temporary password you can generated and hold on to, as I may need to access the site in the future.

Just as well I would like to bring closure on the dispute I had between myself and the former contributor whom is now largly discredited. I would like an explanation or confirmation acknowledging that the forum was password protected, and that this was unknowingly or unintentionally compromised when transferred to the new server. This could be done in PM here or at TW, so that I may cite this in closing argument against the former member.

Regards,

E.
Other stuff: Ticking along nicely.
Citizens: Not much to report.

Soooo... M&B we need to either do something or at least fold it up into a smaller space. RTW we could try and condense as well perhaps in terms of index space? What other ideas do we have? Are there any games we should support big-time but don't?

Well I'm sorry about that mate, I wasn't aware of the password thing not working. Any ideas why that would be? I mean the Brytenwalda private thread is still protected last time I checked.

EDIT* That's really quite strange because I just had a look and 286BC thread is password protected.

As far as new M&B people go, I did a fairly thorough run through over there but unfortunately, the majority of people don't reply. And those that do rarely stay here.

Cheers,

Me too. It's soo awesome. I created a city inside a ravine and all on the inside of the side. 8) Back onto the topic of the shout box though. To me that's a very well missed feature of the old forum. That link is the best answer yet. :) http://www.cbox.ws/. And back to TES: III Morrowind, we should also host some of the mods as well. That'll bring people around. :)

EDIT: It was really me and Deathnade that built that city. We also created and awesome train system. And it was two ravines crossed together like an X. We never finished it either (The city). :)

Was this one a random server or a private server of you guys?

An Exilian Minecraft server would be awesome!
