I went though the read me file. It talks about a line in quotations in the preference options of the short cut.
I put the file into the main folder.
I'm using Win 7 and I don't see anything like that. I added the line of commands onto the address for the url.
I have little/no experience with this.
I bought RTW specifically to play warhammer.
Help.
Find the Rome - Total War shortcut on your desktop and make a copy of it. When you right click on the copy you can open the properties window.
It will look similar to this:
(http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/comrade_general_2007/th_pvshortcut.jpg) (http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/comrade_general_2007/?action=view¤t=pvshortcut.jpg)
You can see in the target line where you will add the commands for Warhammer.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
My icon properties has 5 tabs, none of which say Shortcut.
General, Web document, Security, Details, Previous settings.
I went through them all and couldn't find the example you gave.
What should I try now?
Thanks again.
What is the exact path that your main Rome - Total War folder is located in?
i.e. is is .../Program Files/The Creative Assembly/Rome - Total War or .../Program Files/Activision/Rome - Total War ?
C:\Program files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold\
WHTW is the folder that contains the mod
There are few problems that get me more frustrated than dealing with computers.
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks
Oh - STEAM. You failed to mention that fact. ;)
I don't use steam myself so I cannot help you with my own knowledge, but perhaps one of these links will guide you:
http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?123528-Using-mods-with-Steam-RTW-including-BI-and-Alexander
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=240335
Or to paraphrase one of those:
right click in steam game list ->Create desktop shortcut, then edit the shortcut as shown in C_G's earlier post.
I hope you guys will hang in there a little longer for me.
The steam short cut preference only has a URL steam://rungameid/4760
I still need help.
Thanks
Then writing -mod:WHTW after that target should work. I think.
Unfortunatly no.
I really want to play this mod, but I don't know what to do next.
Have you looked up general advice on installing mods for steam?
Should of been in those links I already posted?
Hey guys, Son of Calcanius here.
I had some trouble with the shortcut so I decided to circumvent the whole shortcut problem.
What I did was go into the \Rome - Total War Gold Edition folder and right clicked on the RomeTW.exe file itself & hit "send to desktop (create shortcut)".
Then I added the extension -mod:WHTW after the quotation marks like was suggested.
The problem I ran into is updating the intro movie. My question is:
What exactly is the file name of the Movie Swapper file? In the data folder all I see are .txt files and folders, nothing executable...
Thanks ^__^
Yup, just checked and I maaaay have forgotten to package the swapper. My bad.
I'd just skip it for now, it doesn't have any effect on the gameplay and I need to make a new/better intro movie anyway. Glad you've got the main thing working. :)
Hi, I have tried -

Can anyone help with this?
Thanks :)
