A) It's open source, and generally free. (With the exception of Red Hat and a few others)
B)                                                    It's generally more secure online, due to the fact that very few people have written viruses for it.
C) I like it better, it tends to be more stable than Windows, the only time it crashes is if you tinker around with it and :)                                                       something up.

I don't use it exclusively though. Wine is good for running Windows software on Linux, but most games tend to have problems. So I run a dual boot system where I have Linux and Windows on the same harddrive, and switch between them depending on what I want to do.

And before you shout 'Linux freak!', I don't lnot like Windows, it's a good OS, it's just that I feel Linux is better. ;)

To me, the thought of people using Vista is weird. Basic seems to require a portugaling supercomputer, of specs that haven't even been invented yet, just to run without lag! Stripping out the graphical crap speeds it up, but UAC is a bitch. I turned it off on my friend's machine while cleaning it up for her.

You do know why MS have extended the shelf life of XP don't you?

because most people don't buy a new computer every year, allot of businesses still run old '98 machines because a replacement system costs too much, and if they do replace they buy cheaper old machines that will be run on XP

If you like Vista, fair enough, I just think it's a horribly bloated OS with more bugs than you can shake a stick at. Though I don't know if SP1 has remedied that. But anyway, just my two pennies. :)

Also, anyone know if there was similar moans about XP back when it first came out? I was still on 98, and so wasn't really in the loop so to speak.

I probably could run VIsta happily on my machine, but I don't want to. Planning to get meself a much more powerful one, and give my current one to my dad. His failed a while back. That's when I'll probably get Vista. Preinstalled on the machine.

Windows Mojave? I watched some of the videos on their site and Vista doesnt look half bad, some nerds found some bugs it seems and blew it way out of perspective. People i know personally who have vista love it, and the only complaints ive heard have been over the internet or through freinds who dont have it. IMO, i really dont think its bad at all, its just had some bad publicity lately. Same happened with the Mac OSX no? Didnt it have a big problem upon release (the latest one i mean)?

I can actualy run M2TW on 1024x768 or something like that (the default size) on medium settings with grass on low. Textures i usualy put on high and models on med. I can usualy play fine its just city battles that lag too much.

I then played a decent sized city battle and the lag wasnt very bad, It DID lag but nothing that detracted from the fun, the lag only picked up a bit when i had a huge melee brawl in a whole i had punched in the wall, so i must have misread the graphic card i had, must be the original one because my computer seems to be able to run M2TW fine.

...Although Firefox 3 page scrolling lags like a bit**, i dont have that problem with IE..
