Hetairos is a tabletop RPG-boardgame set in the Greek underworld, for 4-6 players. Each player controls a hero - one of a range of character archetypes, with varied special abilities - and then sets out to achieve either a goal set for all the players, a goal set for a team, or an individual goal, depending on scenario. The basic play area is a squared map (roughly 2x2cm squares, usually starting about A2 but can be extended) that the players explore, filling and drawing in the new parts of the underworld as they are discovered. Hades is a land of mysterious shrines, deadly traps, isolated villages, and dread monsters - all this and more can be discovered as you travel the tunnel systems. Scenarios range from simply who can survive longest to group tasks such as building the great automaton Talos and protecting an NPC from the wrath of the terrifying Furies.
This forum will give more information about Hetairos and also provide rules, advice on playing pieces, and will also be a hub for continuing game development.

Awesome, can't wait to play it.
Sounds good :)
Sounds armadillo. 0.00005/5 would not play.
:P
You don't have to pay...
:P
I wrote play. With an l.
You see that Khan, he used an l :P
I know that. ;) He still doesn't have to pay though.
Unless Jubal uses the EA free to play model :/
This is a boardgame, and frankly I don't have the infrastructure to try selling it. :P
I know, I know, but in game purchases with real money :O who wouldn't like that? :)
Maybe you can sell and market it as a real board game that people can buy. :o
Again, not enough of a team to make that happen most likely.
I know. :P It'd be pretty cool though.
Lack of a team's not the main issue, it's the structure of the game. The map size, the numbers of different kinds of piece, and so on are all very unpredictable in this ruleset, which makes for a game that's actually really difficult to create in saleable boxes etc.
Aaaah okay, fair enough then. I'm sure you could find a way if you really want to.
It would be a ton of work for very little money if any, I suspect, as much as I'd like to :/
Lets see how fun it is to play first :)
I've run four test sessions so far and, with some tweaks, feedback has been pretty good. I'll release a beta of the rules sometime soon hopefully. :)
Awesome :)
Talking to someone about them volunteering to do rulebook art, much excitement. :)
Just ordered some actual playing pieces for showing this off at the convention :)
*gasp* Stop making me want to go even more! :o Someone HAS to get pictures or even videos of it!
There will definitely be pictures :) Not sure about videos.
Downloaded the rulebook. Looks real good Jub. :)
I'll definitely run a game at some point, perhaps for people who get here early before 3 Coins.
Good work bud,
Yay! You don't need a GM so you can jump in yourself too :) Though I'd warn you to set a good 3hrs aside, you can sometimes finish in two but generally it's that sort of length. I suspect some games could end up in epic inter-player warfare stalemates too, though I've not encountered that yet. :P
Oh I intended to play too. :D It's just that no one else in my group can really be bothered picking up rules systems in advance, so I'll have to take care of telling everyone what they can do and how to do it. :P
The system is fairly simple so hopefully won't be too hard to pick up - and do remember to write a report! :P
Will do mate. ;)
More testing occurred at ExiliCon, and I now have a big box of painted models to use for it :D
I did end up running a game mate and it went pretty smoothly. I'll have to dig up the notes I took and write a quick action report for it. Ladyhawk lasted the longest if I remember correctly.
Also, it appears your link for the rulebook may be down.
Ooh, yes, action report would be absolutely amazing, thankyou :)
Rulebook link is working for me though?
I don't know mate, didn't for me. I'll try and find those notes. ;)
Any news?
I'm afraid not as I have been away. I shall continue to look but I am concerned the notes may not be found.
I might have to run another game instead. :P
That works too!
