QuoteFans of Games Workshop's tabletop warband game Mordheim will be excited to learn that a video game adaptation is in the works from Focus Home Interactive, and it looks to be a near-perfect translation even up to and including elements like permadeath and limb loss.
The press release for the game – there's no official site up yet, or trailer – explains that the game will include the iconic Mordheim factions including Skaven, Sisters of Sigmar, Possessed and more, and will replicate the turn-based strategy of the original game as well as the original looting and weapon-stealing system. A solo campaign and multiplayer modes will be available.
A release date is given as "Fall 2014″, so sometime around September – November for us here in the southern hemisphere.
This does look pretty exciting :)
The bloodbowl video game is pretty slick so fingers crossed for this
I just hope GW don't relaunch Mordheim with new rules and kits as I know I wouldn't be able to resist
Being done by the same people who did blood bowl none the less http://www.focus-home.com/index.php?rub=news&id=675
This may be the first new game I get that isn't abandonware since M&B Warband :)
Yaaaay.
Oh daaaaaayum....And I wasn't going to buy anything else this year because I got ESO...Ah well :D
Wonder if it'll be moddable?
Doubt on the modding front, though they might go the way of bloodbowl which is have three versions of the same game but with later versions add more teams
I'm not so sure they will this time, it received fairly heavy backlash from fans as it was pretty much a bug fix patch plus a couple of new races per 'expansion'...Would have been so much better in DLC format imo.
Expansion is more likely to be the woodland variation (I have it but can't remember the name). I would think and hope that additional factions would be DLC and priced accordingly.
I think Empire in Flames is what you're after?
Yeah that's the one :D
I'm pretty excited for this as well, if it's anything like as good as blood bowl I'll be sinking a few hundred hours into that one as well :P
I just pray my old laptop can run it on ultra low at least

Q&A with developer
kl
Anyone else think that their 'late 2014' release date may be too ambitious given that the website isn't properly up yet? :P
Unless they're just spending all the time on the game and cba to advertise it :P
Hehe, perhaps. Advertising has been rather low, although Gamescom saw a demo which I can't find footage of. According to the forums they're looking into doing more than 1v1 MP which sounds good. Although I am a little disappointed that there's only 4 races (Posessed, Merc, Sisters, Skaven) but more could be revealed later I guess.
If it's anything like the bloodbowl game, more races will be released in later expansions/versions

And there was me foolishly believing they'd learnt their lessons, maybe the fanbase will shun Mord as a result, like they're doing to BB 2 :(

Pics and things updated every week plus Q&As
So it should be out soon apparently. I imagine it won't be before the end of my christmas holidays though so I doubt I'll get time to play it.
Yeah they said something about a tentative Q1 2015 release date iirc.
It's been released on Steam as Early Access, it's also on special for 20% off until December the 2nd!
Nice one Khan, cheers for the update :D
The reviews so far are all good, apparently the recreation is very faithful to both the style and the gameplay. Very excited about this :D
It is very tempting to get...
Think I actually might, would have time to play at christmas and since its multiplayer it could even be a good shout for the odd night of chilling out after christmas.
people are actually complaining on steam that an early access game is buggy and missing most features....
do people even read the description??
Some do not.
So did anyone get the early access?
DD did, said that the game crashes and was unplayable on his pc iirc but don't quote me on that, it was something along those lines anyway. It was in the chat box thing.
I got it in the sale. You run around the map with WASD, no top down tactical things at all. Uninstalled and got a refund. If only they reskinned X-Com: EW they'd pretty much have a license to print money.
That's a bit sad :/
