Except that I am a Witch. :D [old]
Witch as in Wiccan?
I'm still looking for a program to numbercrunch this lot properly, It'll be interesting to look for political/religious correlations if there are any, if there's a line of best fit (i.e. is there a correlation between economic and social policy) and so on and so forth.
Is Karma religion?
Quote from: "stormcloud"Witch as in Wiccan
No. In modern practice, Wicca is a very specific set of traditions that are part of the umbrella of Witchcraft, with well-defined beliefs and practices (such as believing in the Wiccan Rede and the Law of Threefold Return, using a common framework for ritual and myth, etc...).
That is not me. My practice is much more individually-oriented (old school Wiccans will tell you there is no such thing as a Solitary Wiccan), and not bound by Wicca's customs and ideas. I am closer to being a Shaman than a Wiccan, but I am not a Shaman either. I am simply a Witch. Or if you really want to be specific, a priestess of Hekate.
Quote from: "CN2"Is Karma religion?
It is an idea embraced by some religions and philosophies, to one extent or another. The basic idea being that what goes around comes around.
I'm filing you under agnostic CN2, and SubRosa... unsure, probably gets a category of her own.
Quote from: "SubRosa"It is an idea embraced by some religions and philosophies, to one extent or another. The basic idea being that what goes around comes around.
Yes that is it ^^
Quote from: "Jubal"SubRosa... unsure, probably gets a category of her own.
Neo-Pagan would seem the obvious category.
Whats that 8-/
8-/?
Oh... It was supposed to be  's yellow brother... I spose he passed away :(
So you are asking what Neo-Paganism is then? You have never heard of it? Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neopaganism) probably puts it well I suppose.
grrr, double post
I know what Neo-Paganism, is, I was wondering whether and to what extent one should subcategorise it.
I meant CN2.

So according to the site... Hello, I'm Nelson Mandela.
That is a bit Liberal, it's just leftish-liberal.
But I thought I was a proper neo-Liberal. Turns out I'm not.
Brown and Bush are Liberal, and I hate them both and most of their ideals. I feel they're idiots who have no idea how the world should work and aren't fit to run the 100m at school sports day, let alone run a country.
If I oppose their ideas, I guess that makes me more left than right.
hehe did it agian, radically different again

An English Political Scale goes, from left to right
Left:
Communism
Socialism
Liberalism
Right:
Conservatism
Facism
I'm Socialist/Liberal
Economic Left/Right: -0.25

Im an Offlian.
Wow, according to this im freakin Ghandi with a little more spunk...lol.
A lot of people find that their beliefs don't match where they thought they were.
At least you're not an Omnian. :P
I knew i was relatively centrist. I took a Human Rights course where the teacher and other students would lambast corporations and rich people, etc. I was always the devils advocate because i disagreed and was articulately vocal about it. I only had to tell one kid he was dumb.
Edit: Yeah i though about being an Omnian, but i hate talking to people about leaflets and educational writings.
I have to say I'm pretty (on this test, very) left wing. On the other hand I often manage not to come over that far left as I'm generally pretty pragmatic about how a leftwing agenda should be achieved.
My latest result:
L/R - -9.3
Authoritarian/Anarchist - -8
Religion - Atheist.
And I tend to come across as less than that when you talk to me, as I moderate my ideas to something if not reasonably achievable, at least something theoretically possible in my lifetime.
I actually am less extreme than I come out; mostly because I'm a pragmatist to the extent at which the ideal is in fact never the desired option as it's unworkable and thus problematic for the people it's meant to benefit.

I'm thinkng of making a chart showing everyone's results and the average; sound good?
Ja, good. A graphic like it shows with everyone's name who took it here.
Once again following my own suggestions.
Check the OP for the image.
Economic Left/Right: -5.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.08
Here is my new one
Didn't want to be the only Fascist, eh? :P
Oh, and I moved the image to the OP.
Looks great! As a suggestion, you could use the fact that we have religious data too and colour the spots by religion?
Excellent idea, good sir!
Ok, my score:
Economic Left/Right: -1.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.26
Religion: Agnostic
Yay, more data! :D
I'll update the image when I have the time.
I was thinking, it'd be pretty cool on this to have the outer ring coloured by nationality, so the graph shows an extra layer of data...
Can I show off my data?
Economic Left/Right: -5.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.74
Religion: Christian
looking back on this i'm sure my position will have changed considerably
Economic Left/Right: -7.12

Much more left wing libitarian nowadays, and on pretty much the same as Ghandi...
now where are my sandals...
It's my corruptingly lefty influence. :P
Economic Left/Right: -4.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.67

Updated with the new info, but I can't be bothered to find the new average or associate nationality. :P
Should we be scared the the two most powerful people on this forum are relatively almost completely opposite?
Spoiler
JK ;), found it curious
I wouldn't say "relatively almost completely opposite"; I'd say one is more neutral than the other, but hardly relatively almost completely opposite. :P
On another note I think I should take the quiz again.
edit, this time:
Economic Left/Right: -1.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.82
Did a flip-flop over the centre of the graph. I'm not going to change it though, I don't really like the structure of the quiz because I could answer most of the questions a little differently every time.
Economic Left/Right: -4.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.26

Where I always have been - centre left. I had to play the turmpet at a conservative association barbeque today... the speeches were horrendously bad-mouthing the poor lib dems...
I find it amusing how pretty much all our chosen voting parties would be four to seven points to our right, if not more.
Am I late to the party?

Going to get the first post chart updated soon. :)
All is updated.
So, plenty of Ghandi's around here. :P Marcus and I are the only two who dip a toe into the other quadrants, but not the Nazi quadrant, so that's good. :) We're like the complete opposite of the example chart they give on the test site.
Well after coming to terms with my religion I took the test again and it appears I'm lefter and liberaler.
Economic Left/Right: -6.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.64
Religion: Agnostic
You did the right thing, Night. :)
There's something screwy with all our scores ending up so far left/liberal I think. According to the graph even I am more left/liberal than Obama. ???
Economic Left/Right: -4.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.79
Your religion: Catholic
cg: The test gives underlying motivations, the ones they show on the website are based on actual positions. The fact is that America is very, very far to the right as its baseline, and Obama isn't actually doing much about that or challenging the basis of the super-rich and corporate power being the main driving forces in society.
I'd bet that if Obama did the test himself he'd come out somewhere in the middle of the lower left quadrant. Due to the dominant economic theories all being very free-market based, even someone who is mostly in favour of a thriving, competitive market of small businesses and low personal taxation might well come out as to the left of a bunch of politicians who are happy to watch transnational companies turning a free market system into an oligarchy and sit on their asses.
NA: It's my corrupting influence, everyone seems to head left after a while on here. :P
But even all of you here from the UK don't even come close to the graph they show of your parties (unless you're all Greens).
The UK isn't really that far to the left of the US, economically. We have a few vestigial bits like the NHS and a slightly larger benefit system, but other than that we're economically running in pretty much exactly the same way you are.
Yes, but that's not what I was talking about. :P
It means my point still stands about politicians all actually having very far economically rightwing policies, even if it's just because they can't be bothered or aren't able to act on their real beliefs.
I had my brother take it and he ended up right smack in with the rest of the republicans.
We're all just outcasts. ;)
Okay, maybe it's just my corrupting lefty influence again. ;D
There are worse influences ;D .
Another random political test I found recently, found it quite interesting (though I prefer the Compass as an indicator still)

Ok little necro but meh, wanted to add something, the right is vastly under represented! :)
Interestingly, just today my mates found this same political profiler, and nigh on all of them were left wing libertarians. Also, all are atheists. Interesting...
Get them on here to post their scores. We wants datas! :P
Would be good to make an updated version of this at some point...
Thought I should add my two cents:
Your left/right score: -4.12
Your lib/authoritarian score: -3.28
Your religion: Atheist/FSM
And still nobody else seems to be in favour of right wing dictators :sauron:... :(
Your left/right score: -0.38
Your lib/authoritarian score: 1.23
Your religion: Christian I think. :P
Yay! I'm the top most person! (I don't even know what that means.)
It means you are the next Stalin.
The next KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
Hehehe, that sounds like a bad thing. :P
CG, how did you make the graph, out of interest (I think I'm right in remembering it as your work?) I could update it if I knew how...
Would this be useful?
http://www.politicalcompass.org/crowdchart.php?showform (http://www.politicalcompass.org/crowdchart.php?showform)
The resulting chart is basically too small, the names end up running over one another too much :/
It's a shame the entire forum is crowded into the lower left :P .
Maybe create a 2000x2000 image, add a pair of axes and just plot the points mathematically?
The plot points were just eye-balled in using Photoshop. I'll send you the working file, but it's kind of a mess. :P
I'm on the case.
I feel like weighing in
Economic Left/Right: -4.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.21 Religion: Atheist
In the middle of the main block :)
Left/Right: 4.5
Libertarian/Authoritarian: 5.95
Religion: Wiccan/neo-Pagan
Two positive quadrants! Practically un-heard of! :o
I'm probably thinking too much, but I can't take this test on its own terms. At the very least, I need a "Don't know" or "Neutral" option, and preferably a "This question is badly worded; give me a better one". I could rant about individual questions, but I don't have time. All that said, I strongly suspect I'm somewhere in the lower left quadrant of the graph.
Religion: atheist probably comes nearest.
Another resit: -8.62 -7.33 this time, still happily floating around the far liberal left. :P
You're slightly less communistic than before. :)
I'm pretty convinced that this is tied to electoral cycles - I get more left wing the further from an election I am, as close to elections I start realising that I'll need to compromise some of my idealism to find someone to vote for.
Economic Left/Right: 0.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.46
Getting a bit more Libertarian but I consider myself to be a balanced individual.
Economic Left/Right: -6.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.79
I'm the same left/right, but more libertarian :P
The liberalism conversion plan is working, I see. :P
It's not liberalism it's libertarianism for me. :P
I'm using liberalism in the British sense.
I should do a video about all the different uses of that word...
I just noticed that 'political' has been spelled wrong this whole time. :(
QuoteThe liberalism conversion plan is working, I see. :P
As long as it isn't socialism or communism, go for it :P
I am more keen with converting everyone to liberalism, mainly because I find that regardless of economic beliefs, people who are socially (British-sense) liberal are people I can have sensible conversations with. Committed authoritarians, regardless of political stripe, tend to be much more dogmatic and talking to them is often somewhat akin to trying to break down the gates of Minas Tirith by repeatedly headbutting them. Sure, it may work eventually, but it's just not worth it most of the time.
Left/Right: 2.12
Up/Down: -2.87
Religion: complicated, but I usually go with "unaligned theist"
Ello :)
Ooh, slightly libertarian leaning...
Also, welcome to Exilian :D
The initial graph has one colour for Christian and one for Catholic. SAY WHAT?
Anyway
Economic Left/Right: -5.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.23
Anglican (liberal anglo-catholic)
Also, can't help but agree with Glaurung on the need for a neither agree or disagree category. Or a "I dont't have a clue about this issue" category in a couple of cases...
According to a 29 question quiz, in american politics anyway I am:
Mostly Liberal
You believe in social welfare and equality. You side with the liberal agenda in most arguments and tend to vote that way. You can see the conservative point of view but have a hard time fully buying in to most of their arguments.
Good men love freedom, others love license - paraphrased from someone
Link to the quiz? I'm interested to see where I'd come out on this one :)
Ah sorry, was on fb it's passed somewhere into the ether now :/
Ah ok, no worries :)
