Title: Warhammer 9th edition
Post by: Silver Wolf on January 07, 2015, 02:34:40 AM
Rumours come from Darnok (Warseer), who is usually known as a reliable source.

The news look dire, and if they're true I'm most likely abandoning the ship.

Yikes, that is quite a shake up. I don't see who they're trying to appeal to? Have I misread it or are they completely changing the lore and also releasing new models every month that are limited time only? But that sounds ridiculous tbh. The lore needed some retconning, sure but not deleting.

EDIT: Also, that's a sic profile pic SW :D

Honestly, I think GW have been removing all the bits of fluff I like since before I even started playing, and the trend apparently is continuing.  :(

We don't need no steeenkin' space muhrines!

Thanks Colossus.  ;D

Here's a longer explanation from Faeit.
Faeit is usually untrusted (for a good reason), but this guy seems to know what he's talking about...

Faction reduction to 6 alone is bullarmadillo. I'll stick with 8e probably, not that I've bought models in a long time but still play at weekends if I can.

What do y'all think the six factions will be?

Chaos, Space marines, Undead and the Elves for sure.

Not so sure about others.

Dwarfs and humans I would think.

will greenskins be their own faction?

they better not be included in the chaos faction, the orcs have always been a strange form of neutral, well at war with everyone WAAAGH!!

I dunno, I was thinking maybe they'd just tie into the 40k version?

I think Orcs are far more likely to survive as a faction than Dwarfs, who may find themselves submerged in a "generic good guys" bundle faction thingy.

Not sure about Lizardmen, I guess they might just have been wholly wiped out by the Coming of the End Times?

I thought it was part of Lizardmen lore that they prophesice that they get destroyed by Chaos, and there was something in an old HE book about it as well? I can barely remember it was near 10 years ago.

And the Old ones abandon the ship in the End times, if what I heard is correct...

Quotevia Earlybird on Warseer
factions :
1) Chaos : Demons + Beasts + Mortals
2) Elves
3) Empire
4) Undead
5) Orcs and Goblins
6) Skavens

Lizards are gone in space.
Dwarves survivors join the empire with the ogres.

1) Chaos core : Warriors of chaos/chariot/Hounds
Demons figs will be kept as they are usable in 40k
Bye bye marauders, ungors, centigors, razorgor etc

2) Elves core : spearmen/archers/cavalry on horse
No more xbows
the 3 elves will blend in one faction
dark elves monsters are gone : cold ones, hydra

3) Empire core: Hallberds/Handgun/Canon
Some dwarves survivors and ogres are included
Imperial and bretonnian knights are merged

4) Undead core : Skeletons/Ghouls/Spirit host
bye bye bone giant, scorpion sphinx, chariots and everything too much egyptian

5) Orcs and goblins core : Goblins/Orcs/Black orcs
no real change for them

6) Skaven core : Clanrats/Plague rats/Rat ogres
no real change for them too

But then that wouldn't leave a slot for a new faction...

why is GW doing this? they go like 30 years with the same basic structure and fluff but now everything is going to armadillo

They're probably cutting the costs of maintaining WHF and focusing on 40k completely, since it's much more financially viable.

WHF Space Marines might just join Humans?

Serious BS, definitely sticking to 8e.
