I have a around 600 points orcs and goblins army, But i almost only have gobbos in it, It contains 2 regiments of night goblin spearmen, 1 regiment of night goblin bowmen, 1 regiment of goblin spiderriders, 2 gobling warboss, 1 night gobling shaman, 1 troll, 1 regiment of gobling wolf riders, 1 wolf chariot and 1 regiment of orc warriors.
When the ex warboss Gergoth Stone splitta was killed by a dwarf ranger,Gasgul goldtoof took gergoth
I assume the model selection is based on Skull Pass?

Yeap, I also have a Empire army, but i didnt like the playing style (detachment and all that crap) so i started a orc and gobling army, they are more like me, (get to the fighting as quick as possible) =)
I like fancy tactics... orcs are good though, a lot of people I play with like them. I like hacking them to pieces (Dwarfs) or whipping them to death (Chaos Dwarfs) for my 2 armies.

A Chaos Dwarf army? Dude you have been into warhammer for a long time, didnt they stop selling chaos dwarfs for like..15 years ago or something?
The old rules are still (technically) legal, I've been playing CDs for about eight months (having played Warhammer for four years now). I got bored of Dwarfs after the new army book and rulebook relegated them to sitting and gunlining. I'm modelling a greek- themed Chaos Dwarf army, there's a thread here (which i need to update) with the start of my work.
if you class legal as an army written for a set of rules that is like two editions out of date
If you can genuinely find a single balance issue that's worse than any other army today, I might consider that. Ravening Hordes was a continuation list written and legal for 6th ed which is very similar to the current 7th ed.
These are my Armies currently

Now that's a collection ! :D
Men (all four of you).... TO BATTLE! :knight:
I've ordered a pack of knights a few moments ago... Web shop is finally open !
Steam tank was on huge discount (from about 50 pounds to 22), but I'm not a huge fan of steam tanks...
DD I'm curious ... Your chaos knights... Are they the old metal version?
no,
they were like
They were that expensive ?
Huh... But they did look better than new plastics...
well, I have lotr goblin and gondor army, 3 tomb king chariots and dark eldar army
Quote from: "Silver Wolf"They were that expensive ?
Huh... But they did look better than new plastics...
very static and just seemed to be one solid lump
the new ones are posable, dynamic, much more easily converted and best of all, come with BITZ!
Well they looked better to me... I don't know, these new ones are OK too, but they're kind of cartoony...
And they lack fur cloaks... But that could be solved with greenstuff...
Only do The Lord of the Rings.
My army
Gil-Galad
Elrond
Elladan and Elrohir
High Elf Captain
Elf Spearmen x3
High Elf Archers x16
High Elf Warriors x15
and
N
I've got way too much LotR to count. I sort of gave up on it when War of the Ring came out. I loved the SBG but nobody plays it anymore.
As far as 40k goes I have a small Space Marine army, (come on, who doesn't? :D) a 1800 Craftworld Eldar army, some Dark Eldar and my main 40k force, 2250 points of Exodites from a fan-made codex I'm working on. I say working but I haven't touched it in about a year.
Fantasy I have almost 16000 points of assorted Elves. My High Elves are the main force with Prince Raethelas even having his own fluff written about his exploits. If anyone's interested, here's the story. (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242853)
I also have almost 3000 points of Bretonnians and I'm slowly amassing a force of Khuresh. Another project I've been working on, they're the noble Tiger-men of Ind.
I'll post pics if anyone's interested.
I also run a Warhammer E-Magazine as well as Exilian; I ought to get you to do an article on your army sometime...
Cool I'd like that. :D
Well here's the start of my Altdorf army:
on the pictureCaptain on foot (6th edition command sprue + greatsword head)
Captain on barded warhorse (not yet finished, contains bits from 7 different boxes; my biggest conversion so far)
20 swordsmen, full command (standard bearer not yet finished)
12 plastic greatswords (new plastic box + 2 conversions)
other miniaturesReiksguard command, I use them as my greatsword command models (and I owe these to Marek (http://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?action=profile;u=5838), who gave them to me for free) (http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_cheers.png)
5 metal greatswords (6th edition models)
7 knights panther

Spoiler: click to toggle

Just a few basic colors on greatswords and that's all.
I quite like those however i do hope your not planning on leaving like that painting wise? i add eyes and scars and stuff to my marines. Makes it look cooler, im a bit of a perfectionist with my models :P, its why they take so long.
Nah Silver's got his army blog coming along nicely. (slowly :D) He's got a link to it somewhere in this section. ;)
So guys and gals I'm almost finished with collecting my 2500 points Empire army.
Since I've started painting most of the stuff already I've been thinking about starting a new, smaller army.
I've had a few races in mind such as :
a) Warriors of Chaos
+ I already have a smaller force, not sure about points, but mostly characters which I bought because I like painting them
+ these guys are mostly already painted, but I've been thinking about repainting them since my painting skills are now much better
b) Orcs and Goblins
+ I already have 10 black Orcs and a Boss
+ huge diversity
c) Wood elves
- I have none unfortunately
+ really like the style though, even though the models are outdated (and rules, but that'll be fixed)
d) Dwarves
- I despise the current models
- the rules also need an update. Dwarfs are boring to play right now.
- Not much different than the Empire gameplay-wise
+ I would like to run a hammerer/ironbreaker army if the models and rules get updated
+ ridiculously easy to paint
With rumors of 9th edition appearing next year (though I'm not so sure) I have a feeling that I should wait for a new starter set.
There are some speculations about a new starter set and it might include empire, woc, wood elves and dwarves. Loving it so far.
Wood elves and dwarves get my vote because they're opposing armies.
Organic vs. heavily armored, magic vs. machines (template weapons), highly mobile vs. slow moving.
Previous editions for reference:
8th: High Elves vs. Skaven
7th: Dwarves vs. Goblins
6th: Empire vs. Orcs
5th: Bretonnians vs. Lizardmen
4th: High Elves vs. Goblins
Match-ups seem to have some sense since the 6th edition. (probably the best starter set so far)
Here are some other possible match-ups:
Quotewood elves (melee troops, ranged troops, cavalry) against beastmen (melee troops, monsters).
Some over-knighty bretonian vs. chaos demons.
Empire vs. vampire counts (sylvanian wars)
Dark elves vs. dwarves (both elite troops, but one is fast and vicious while the other resilient and purposeful... quite opposite IMHO)
I don't know if I've already said it somewhere but I've begun to slowly ( and even more slowly paint ) collect my Skaven army. At the moment it only consists of a plague monk regiment and a pack master kit with rat ogres. I may have posted pictures somewhere too :P . I've been gone too long really , Perhaps sometime I'll get around to painting and uploading my plague monks.
You should split the IoB starter box with someone.
You'll get a lot of useful units for a relatively small amount of money.
And not to mention that they look very good.
It's a deal you shouldn't miss.
I'll consider it, I'm not that serious about warhammer at the moment. Too much school and gaming to be done :)
I'm just saying that if you have any desire to continue this hobby, even in distant future, it's a great opportunity.
The new starter set is rumored to come out next year. And the contents of this box will cost at least 3 times more when bought separately.
Yeah that sounds pretty nice, do you know of the set is pre positioned or if you can pose then yourself?
Pre positioned. Push and fit models. Starter sets are always like that.
But you can always cut of the hands and position them anyway you want.
Standalone clanrats don't offer much positioning anyways.
And it's decided.
My next army are the Wood elves. Tree huggers.
This is one of the reasons why I chose them:

"My reasoning: DRAGON."
^ This should be used more often.
Yes, don't you agree? :P
Winning games is not my priority.
It just looks so cool and different from standard "optimized" wood elves.
And it's fun! ;D
Bought the damn dragon for half the original price.
