To keep you updated on the trials of my seeking a new homeland. :gimli:
So far, sent 3 messages, all had replies - am seeing one house later today, one hasn't replied to a subsequent message yet.
Also, just working through the crazy world of spareroom.com and some of the "interesting" things on adverts there...
- The house that advertised "nice desk and professional chair". The nice desk was basically a coffee table.
- I require a female to keep the male/female ratio an even split - why is this a thing?
- All the "No DSS" messages are really unfriendly and offputting. They don't apply to me, but even so.
Buy my house I don't want it anymore.
Unfortunately my search criteria include "within walking distance of the University of Birmingham". Also I don't have enough money to buy a house.
:(
I think I have found a room to live in.
A singular room?
Yes - renting one room in a shared house is basically the only affordable option for someone like me.
unless you're going to live in a DIY hobbit hole? (aka, a cave)
Birmingham is not known for its caves, sadly.

Congratulations! I hope it's hospitable, and conducive to working.
I'm still waiting for the guy to send the paperwork over... I think it should be alright, it's hard to tell with new places at an early stage like this. I think I can confidently say that the room exists, will probably be watertight and have basic water/electricity/internet, and it's on a short let so if it's awful it won't have to be awful for too much of my life.
To let = toilet.
Can confirm, house does have toilet.
Yusßßss.
In fact I found out when I finally got round to looking in the back yard that the house still has its old outdoor toilet; it's never been removed, it's just there in an outbuilding!
