Title: Naval Battles
Post by: Millenium on May 28, 2009, 10:25:02 AM
Well, there's been some discussion on whether we should add naval battles to the mod. This would:

-Give access to areas like Vroengard and Beirland
-Give more ways to attack an enemy
-I'm not sure what else.

It would be very easy to incorporate this, thanks to Jubal:

Jubal's awesome Navy-scripts (http://s9.zetaboards.com/exilian?topic=467886/1/#new)

So, yes or no?

I think yes. It would be cool if you could ride your dragon against a ship as well. Would that be possible?

I doubt it, as you can't use mounts in naval battles.

I thought there might be a way to add them.

no, it doesnt't look good, if a horse is standing on such a little boat (btw, we should make new ones)

seems like naval battles are so much buggy but if you want them in, then we'll make better boats.

i asked mirathei a few days(or weeks?) ago how i can make the ships moving by pressing a button (so, left, right, etc...), but he didn't anywer (at least yet)

I'm working on a more advanced naval script. Button-press movement is unlikely, bu certainly I think I can create a much, much better, smoother and less buggy edition of Mira's code, with more features. I'll get it done seriously after exams. Southern Realms will have it first, after I release it in there it'll be free for y'all to use.

Destroyable ships, anti-ship weapons, boarding planks instead of the ships colliding, different ships depending on what type the player bought and/or what type the enemy is, and a few other things maybe.

That's plans rather than implelemtation, but I'm mostly sure those can be implemented.

*Drools

The only thing I found wrong with your ships in SR was that they took like only 5 arrows to die. :D kinda funny.

Yea, the HP won't go up to over 120ish for some reason.

All I remember of the ships in SR is that battles lasted 5sec, as one of my boats always crushed the other boat in the very start, resulting as our victory.

If we waited would Jubal have his out before the mod is released? If not we could use the old script in the first release and then we could upgrade it to Jubals.

I think it would be a better idea to wait until Jubal finished it. I'd rather not have naval battles in the first release, then have buggy naval battles. No offense Jubal, personally I haven't even tried it, I just keep hearing it's buggy. Excellent work, though!
