Prosoportal is a project I've been hoping to do for some time and have finally started getting round to: there are SO many historical resources on the internet that are hard to find, especially in the world of historical data and databases, that having a location to start keeping tabs on them felt like something very needed that we were missing. Hence a portal for prosopographies and other historical data - prosoportal.

The initial aim of this project is basically cataloguing and keeping up to date links available for as many of these projects as possible. Beyond that, there are two main routes I want to go down. One is making metadata searches available, not searching within the databases, but just finding which resources might reasonably cover your areas of interest. The other is working on providing bibliographies and resources to help people understand this sort of data, a lot of which isn't clear for the non-specialist and even for specialist academics can be challenging at times.
