So I'm tinkering with some new and revolutionary ideas using the RTW system. Here is a sample of some very early stage test material:

I know what you're thinking - "you're a madman CG!" I know right? A Star Trek RTW mod?
So what do you think, should I roll with this and see what I can do? I'm quite familiar with the capabilities and limitations of the RTW engine. One thing I have determined is that RTS battles would not be possible so this would be based solely around the campaign map.

You could still have RTS battles on planet surfaces ...
You build your little starship armies and zoom around the map. :D
RTS battles are inconceivable because the engine wouldn't work for spaceships, plus there is a complete lack of models.
This is just for fun to set the player into the theme of Star Trek. ;)
I think planet surface battles fall into the Star Wars category. :P
I'd advise making it all work with boats then if that's possible (with each planet being a circular provincial landmass as small as you can get it). Otherwise telling everyone "you can't do RTS" is just gonna confuse thick people. :P
Yeah that might work. I'm still toying with ideas.

I came to the realization that the work involved was too extreme in relation to the results it would produce. This was just a fling ;)
shame, although yeah, the space ship battles would have been insanely difficult. CA should have thought of adding space ship animations
