In other news, a gunman has gone on the rampage in Cumbria... (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/10214661.stm) :zegun:
-
This is very unfortunate.
So I thought gun control kept things like this from happening. [/sarcasm]

Only three massacres in recent history, compared to how many in the US? Yes, America is bigger, but size isn't the only factor.
-
Perhaps not, but its a major one.
-
In the past decade there have been fifty shootings at high schools in the USA; that is literally just at highschools. In the UK there have, as Marc pointed out, only been 3 massacres in recent history.
And in terms of size our population's about a fifth that of the US; 3x5 = 15 shootings in recent history if the US had had similar circumstances to the UK. And you've had fifty in highschools alone.

Before we get too into the debate, spare a thought for the friends and families of the victims, who have been taken horribly by surprise. The fact that this just doesn't happen that often makes it all the more shocking.
-
Indeed.
-
Oh, very much agreed. It's a terrible, terrible thing whenever and wherever it happens.
-
What about the AUS not many shootings here. We are clean.
