Title: Jubal's Maps
Post by: Jubal on January 22, 2011, 07:56:36 PM
Here's all the maps I've made for 0 A.D., for your use and enjoyment.

To Install
Go to your 0AD folder, then go binaries -> data -> mods -> public. Then unzip public.zip, go to maps -> scenarios in the new unzipped file structure, and paste 'em there then unzip. You should be able to reach them ingame by selecting "All Maps" under the map filter when starting a game.

On Ubuntu, your 0ad folder will be buried in /usr/share/games/0ad. It won't have the maps/scenarios folders, so open up Nautilus as root (Alt+F2, gksudo nautilus) and enter your password, then navigate to /usr/share/games/0ad/mods/public and create a folder called 'maps' (without quotes) then inside that make one called 'scenarios' (without quotes). Then put your map files in there, and access them the same as above.

Jubal's Maps Pack for A13 Maghada:
This contains Barcania II, Colonia, Epidaurum, Nova Isla, and From the Mountains to the Sea in one pack:
Download (http://www.exilian.co.uk/mods/0AD/Jubal_Scenarios.zip)

Individual maps for Alpha 13:
Barcania II
This stormy-looking island map contains huge potential - a swathe of rugged inland forest cuts off an athenian, a carthaginian, and a briton village. Around the edges of the island, cliffs and coves bring huge potential for sheltered bases and ports, with the starting villages sheltering a few peninsulae or islands accessible only by muddy tracks. Barcania II updated with new factions as above (the original had 2x Hellenes, 1x Celts):

Colonia
A carthaginian colony is founded on the Celtic/Iberian coast - but the locals aren't going to give up without a fight! Carthage, Celts, and Iberians struggle over a central valley on a resource-rich and rugged map.
Screenie (spoilered for hugeness, taken on older version though new one is very similar):

Epidaurum
The map is actually based on the modern coastline (Cavtat in Croatia) and so bears no relation to Roman/Greek Epidaurum except the name and location basis. Three Greek villages (Macedonian, Athenian, Spartan) in two bays fight it out on the Illyrian coastline for supremacy - both on land and on the water.

Screenie (spoilered for hugeness, taken on older version though new one is very similar):

From the Mountains to the Sea
A classic multiplayer designed map for one Gaul and one Athenian player. The Greeks start on an island, the Celts in the rugged and wild mountain regions of the map. The vast majority of the resources are clustered along the wide and almost indefensible coast, filled with light forests, marshes, and flat coastal plains. Whichever side controls the resources is more open to assault either from land or sea... the war is about to begin.
Screenie (spoilered for hugeness, taken on older version though new one is very similar):

Download (http://www.exilian.co.uk/mods/0AD/mountainstosea.zip)

Himalaya
Years after Alexander's retreat, it seemed as if the Macedonians had barely left anything in the Himalayan foothills near India. In fact, some of them had never left... 1v1 Macedon VS Mauryans.
Screenie (spoilered for hugeness, taken on older version though new one is very similar):
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Download (http://www.exilian.co.uk/mods/0AD/Himalaya.zip)

Nova Isla
For two players; greeks versus celts on an island. includes rough mountainous hills in the west, sweeping woods and grasslands in the east, marshes in the NE, and other such nice features. Pretty fun; a third player is there, for testing purposes mostly, and consists of a few shipwrecked sailors.

Old Maps

You impress me Jubal. They look really nice.

You might even suggest them to the 0 A.D. team.

To bad I can't try them out right now.

A fourth has been begun, this one's more designed around being a good 2P-MP-playable map.

Hopefully, not the Grassy Flatlands balanced type map  ;)

Good luck, I look forward to playing in it

As a preview, it'll be entitled "From the Mountains to the Sea". Essentially the premise is that the Greek player is on an island on one side of the map, the Celt player in mountains on the other, and the resources are for the most part along the open and almost indefensible coastline.  :)

Nice idea, although the balancing for the both islands will be hard. Best luck for you

A few pics wouldn't hurt *whistles*

Oh lord, that looks SWEET! I'm guessing that some of your inspiration came from a map in AoM? (can't remember the name though)

Next week, I'll be there.

Maybe we should all have accounts on something like skype to be able to coordinate better games on any of the games featured on these boards, like RTW, 0 a.d and all that.

MSN, usually.
Title: Jubal's Maps
Post by: Marcus on February 12, 2011, 09:33:55 PM
Ok, Epidaurum is a good map, but getting the secret valley gives way too much of an advantage. Once someone takes it and holds it, it's only really a matter of time, since no one else has access to anywhere near as much materials. Perhaps making an island in a similar mould would alleviate this?

Title: Jubal's Maps
Post by: Jubal on February 13, 2011, 02:30:47 PM
I'm really tempted to make a goldless map sometime. Tons of food, tons of wood, no metal. Result, massive peasant armies beating themselves to death against each other's walls.  :D
Title: Jubal's Maps

That would get incredibly tedious, I don't think I could handle that. :P

All maps DO work with Daedalus, in case anyone's interested for the info.

I wonder how the AI manages, I doubt it will make naval invasions :D

How does the AI manage?

AI still can't do anything naval, but on t' land it's improving.

Man, I really can't wait for the final release. Too bad they said that the abilities for units to scale walls won't be included finally. It would have been the perfect fusion and sex of RTW and AoM

The link to the TWC sub-forum (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1217)

I haven't started my own thread, since I few only a few things done from what I want to do. The mod is currently about Central Greece (I think this mean only the "real" greek states, it extends only to the north until Boeotia and a bit of Aetolia) from 360 to 336, although the v.1 is going to be released soon (hopefully!), stretching all the way to Macedon. My minimod is to change the music, add the EB greek voicemod (I'm still trying to get the permission) and change the unit names to greek (the way they are displayed on EB). So far, I have the names and the music, but I haven't heard yet all the songs I intended to use for like ambiance music (what you hear in the strat map), and I am still waiting for the permission to use the greek voice mod, but I already got the files I needed.

I suggest you check it out, although there are a few submods I highly suggest you to install before playing.

Maps pack added. I think Barcania is bundled with Alpha V, can anyone confirm or deny this?

Ugh, misinterpreted and understood otherwise. I believe two of your maps were included, or at least the uninstaller spared them and kept them in my PC.

Although Barcanian I'm pretty sure that wasn't included, nice map BTW. I just had a few problems with space at the beginning (in the south island). I had to start a massive deforestation program. And thanks to your bot, I now know how to start well a game.

I actually didn't remember the names of the new maps, and 0ad runs kinda buggy if I have Firefox open (to check out the names). I might as well write them down, I just thought of that.

I'm such a genius

It looks rather small, but nicely designed.

Colonia is my favorite, though.

A himalayan RMS will appear soon hopefully  :)

Colonia and Barcania are I think my two best pieces of work, though Mountains to the Sea I'll also always like just because it was my first really decent completed map. I'd like some MP opponents to test them sometime more...

Looks very nice! Sadly, the pc I'm using now can't run 0 A.D., hopefully the game's performance will be optimized in later stages for me to be able to enjoy it.
