Title: Good news everyone.
Post by: Captain Carthage on April 03, 2011, 11:10:06 PM
I've finally got off my arse and bought RTW, and I'm having a blast.

One thing that really confused me though was the ridiculous goals set in the tutorial. Capture 50 provinces in that many years are you Mad?!

I assume the imperial campaign doesn

50 provinces are nothing in vanilla. Wait till you get the whole experience with mods. RTW is still being played in part because of mods.

I wish I had a counter of how many hours I've spent on RTW

Anyways, great to know someone else is getting ripped with RTW. I recently convinced a friend to play :D

Coincidence is that today I was hearing everyone saying 'Huzzah!'.

I don't think there are even 50 provinces to capture in the tutorial, from what I recall.

Oh, didn't notice it was in the tutorial (about the 50 provinces). Maybe you haven't installed the 1.5 patch yet. I guess it's retail right?

Yep just got RTW and Medieval 2 for my birthday.  Just sucks a little that I have no time to play em.

I recently had to give my borrowed copy back, leading to some difficulties with mods and such as the copy I got for my birthday was a SEGA one instead of the CA borrowed one.  A little fiddling with the paths later and I'm set.

So good on you for getting it NA. ;)  Now go get Medieval 2. :)

I have gone on a massive "liberation" campaign into central Europe to bring Roman security to the barbarians.

I guess you're playing Brutti? Don't forget to use the Tamples of Ares, they'll bring massive advantages when you get to the civil war, or even when battling in asia minor

Julii seems more logical to me.

Wait, central europe is the area around modern germany or hungary?

That generally makes sense, especially since he mentions "barbarians".

CG's correct I'm using the Julii and I'm building Jupiter temples is that good?

Also no matter what I offer no one wants to make peace is it something I'm doing or is it that I don't have any patches?

Peace? No peace! This is S- Total War! :P

But seriously as Romans once you start fighting everyone no one will want to befriend you.

Diplomacy in RTW is terribly flawed, that's why one of the first mods was the Force Diplomacy, and it must be in at least half of the mods out there

Nonetheless, it's the only TW game that has made me come back after at least a year and a half :P probably the only game that has kept me coming back, actually
