my least favourite charachter would have to be, the green knight!
-
my least favourite character would hav to be lord Kroq (the fat mummified frog)
hes the most useless mage ive ever seen in battle
-
you also forgot he costs over 1200 pts so its a waste and it's kroak.
-
yes well i dont speak retarded
-
i dont particuly like tyrion (when im playing against him).
-
same here
-
New Lizardmen book (like most new books) is screwed up. I hate ALL Lizardman special chars for having retarded names.
-
Tic-Tac-Toe lol
-
I like warrior priests, but I don't like the look of the figures... They look retarded, so I've decided to make my own, but I'll need one flagellant body and some green stuff...
Furthermore I don't like the style Empire generals and state troops form 7th edition ...
-
The spearmen are the worst model-wise. Utterly ***t.
-
7th edition spearmen ? Yes they do look crappy ...
But 6th edition spearmen (ones equipped with lion head shield) ... I quite like them...
-
The ones in 6th were fine, it's the new ones where the spear is so big they can barely get their hand round it that are rubbish.
-
Yes, that's one of the biggest problems... Along with the monkey face head, pajama like clothes and the body with bare feet.
-

also they lost their giant codpieces!
-
Yes ! Exactly ! They are not manly enough !
-
and when (in yr8) you have arguments over the size of your soldiers', *ahem* manhood, the winner was clear, but not anymore!
-
They must follow my example ! They are my soldiers after all...
-
That's too much information SilverWolf. Way too much. :D
Back on topic. I hate Karl Franz. Wierd name, don't like the model, (the Gryphon was nice, the rider, not so much) don't like the art, don't like the background. (He's TOO perfect. "He's a great general, great politician, great Emperor, great baker, great warrior, great looking. Bet he's also the best rider in the Empire and best boy scout too. Drives me up the wall.)
-
What ? Blasphemy ! (http://www.ums-agram.hr/forums/images/smilies/angryhit.gif)
Karl Franz is my favorite character... He's perfect !
The only thing that I don't like about him is current Deathclaw model ... Deatchclaw should have a majestic look, not that bloated chicken look...
-

Exactly.

Well I prefer Deathclaw's model to Stormwing's. I mean the wings on Stormwing! :X Although Beaquis is beautiful.

Exactly.
Well he is supposed to be the best of all ... He is the leader of men after all ... He was chosen to represent the best of mankind ...

I agree... Beaquis is beautiful... Although she/he 's a hippogryph ...
-

Well each to their own I guess. I still don't like him though. Anyway, I thought that being the Chosen of Mankind was Valten's schtick.
Although she/he 's a hippogryph ...
He. And I just thought I'd voice my opinion on the model since we were talking about large feathered beasties. ;)
-
Karl Franz is much better on a horse than on Deathclaw, sure he has decent armour and ward but he is just a cannon magnet on the griffon and the model is hideous
-
You're right of course but in my opinion Deathclaw is what salvages the entire Karl Franz mini. Deathclaw is the reason my cousin bought Karl Franz. He's also the reason why I stole Karl Franz. :D
EDIT* I should probably mention, stolen FROM my cousin.
-

I'll have to agree with that one ... The same idea crossed my mind, although I'm noob...
That's why I was thinking about converting Karl from various empire bits 6 pieces of greenstuff ...
-
yeah all you need to do is get a Gharl Maraz cheaply (one on the Valten models) and stick it on a general of the empire (remembering to put a helmet on said general) and adorn him with laurels etc.
-
Wow, now that would be expensive ! :D
I was thinking about using bits from knightly orders, state troop and greatsword boxes and the griffon from Island of Blood...
You can always use Runefang instead of Ghal Maraz...
-
Goldswords you mean? Now that's expensive.
-
yeah its a shame they price units on the points cost in the game (or tactical value) rather than for what your paying for
-
Goldswords you mean? Now that's expensive.
No they're greatswords, I have no idea why people call them goldswords... I've bought 10, mostly because they look good, and they've turned out to be pretty much the most useful sprue ever... I've made a warrior priest and spearmen sargent from the leftover bits (they still need legs though)... And I still have enough crucial bits for Karl Franz...
-
You're right about the usefulness, tis a good kit. The goldswords name comes from the fact that they are way too damn expensive for 10 models. To cost that much they must be made of solid gold or something.
-
Karl Franz is my favorite character... He's perfect !
[/quote] ummm.. I would just like to say
something about the fact that Karl Franz is "perfect" he is not the perfect man because he is not flawed. He is too pertect, he needs a major flaw in his character
-
That's true, GW has moved away from having flawed heroes I feel which kinda sucks.
-
all the 'Forces of Order' Heroes have no flaws,
those of the 'Forces of Destruction' have a fair few, Grimgor with his uncontrolable rage to name only one
-
The forces of destruction ones would be better described as villains rather than heroes though. :P
-
heroes and villains
its all a matter of perspective
if Hitler had won WWII Churchill would be the villain, no?
-
It's a bit clearer cut in Warhammer what with Chaos and Orcs wanting to tear civilisation to the ground and all.
They did a better job with the new Tomb Kings, Settra is ruthless dictator and an asshole for the good of his nation. Ramhotep is driven to better himself with greater creation and avenge the destruction of his great works.
Actually the Tomb King fluff is good overall.
-
heroes and villains

I disagree - there are some things which CAN definitely and absolutely be classified as "good" as compared to "evil".
Torture is evil. Killing another human being is usually evil. Depriving others of their human rights is usually evil. Hitler did all of these things an a scale barely imaginable to us today, therefore I think it's totally fair to say that regardless of perspective Hitler was evil.

ok bad example, but take Che Guevara, hero or villain? V (from V for Vendetta)? There are aspects of history that are blurred or not well covered by the winning side if it reflects badly upon them, the Japanese-American concentration camps is a good example, as Churchill said "History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it."
-
Of course, you're totally right; that's kinda my point though, GW are writing those sorts of morally neutral characters out of WHFB altogether. Bar (debatably) the Tomb Kings, just about everyone is shifting their alignments either to Lawful Good or Chaotic Evil. This is one major reason why they won't bring Dogs of War back as a full army, it doesn't fit into the "Forces of Order/Forces of Destruction" crap they have now.
-
What about the Woodies? I wouldn't say they necessarilly fit into either. I mean, they're obviously against Chaos, but they'll shoot the living hell out of an Imperial Logging Corporation too.
As Jubal said, Duke Dev is right in that Karl Franz is too damned perfect. But its not just him. Louen Leoncour, Kurt Helborg, Ludwig Schwarzhelm, (To some extent Luthor Huss) and they're just the human ones. I mean out of them, can any of you name one weakness or character flaw?
I mean Elves should be perfect. They're Elves, it's inevitable. But let's just go through three characters with some sort of big character flaw.
Caradryan: In a race renowned for their arrogance, he somehow manages to be the most obnoxious of them all. But in classic Monty Python style, "he got better."
Teclis: Physically frail and weak, with a bitter mind. But once again, "he got better."
Alith Anar: Consumed by rage, he tortures Druchii. But of course the Druchii started it, so it aint his fault if they get their spleens torn out their eyes.
The only others are Tyrion, (No duh, of course he's perfect) Korhil and Eltharion. Out of those, Eltharion might be flawed, but only because he's tainted by that old, "ooooh, I'm a blind Elven Jedi" crap. I stand by, Eltharion as a character has no real flaw. If you go by the old book, then Imrik is there too, and he was perfect. And awesome, I am so pissed that he was dropped.
As an Elf, I have to say, the Dwarves are just a flawed race in general. :P I won't even bother going through their special characters.
I haven't read much of the new TK fluff, but I remember I liked their older stuff that wasn't all, "We really, really, hate the living, so we're gonna kill you and your descendants."
There is really only one army left to discuss and that is...Kislev. If you think about it, the two characters that were in there were both flawed. The Tzarina was all cold and aloof. Haughty. Distant. In fact, more frigid than an ice-cream factory. As for the Tzar, I've forgotten, but his obsession with bears could be seen as unhealthy.
-
afraid to say the new stuf is exactly that for TK "We really, really, hate the living, so we're gonna kill you and your descendants." In the latest WD that is the storyline for a battrep
The Tsar is freakin' awesome, Bear Cavalry, very His Dark Materials
-
Pity about the TK's really. They used to be interesting.
And yeah, don't get me wrong, I love Boris. Epic^2. But I'm sure there's a flaw somewhere in there. For that matter Louen is pretty damned cool too. I mean he's something like 70 now and still kicking ass like a warrior-king. Which he is.

Its funny how a thread with this topic can go into a debate about food and evil.
-
Food and evil? Doughnuts I say! The Doughnuts will betray us all!
-
Wait, where was the food and evil?
That being said, it's not doughnuts but croissants you must look out for. Bloody, solid goddamn French pieces of polished and baked dog-armadillo with butter and cheese!
-
Food will never betray you... Unless it's poisoned, but that's an entirely different topic.
