I have decided to give the ''King of the HILL'' game another prospective...

If the defeated player has no more hitpoints, he is pronounced dead and he is removed from playing.

Just uploaded a primitive form of the map...  :)

What I need of you? You will use your own names we must find a way of how to get skill points or buy better armour and all I need from you is your map-based starting location...  :)

The map needs a ton of refinement...  :D

Opinions?  ;)

Not quite what I expected.  It's not very historical on "The Hill" scale, you forgot Terra Australis, The Hill it's self, Jimbobland and Khanville. That there reminds me too much of England. :P

It reminds you of what it is supposed to be...  :)  ;) Are you still in??  :)

Hey Dimos, two things.

First you didn't respond to my earlier suggestion that we wage our wars over Multiplayer M&B.  What do you think? I am sure that we could make a pretty kickass mod out of it with at least two factions, the Kingdom of Jimbobland and the Hill Empire.  The two factions would have classes based upon our names, so the Kingdom would have King Phoenix, Lord of Jimbobland, He of the Spiffy Hat and Hair and Grand Admiral Mark Khan, Rider of the Storm.  Meanwhile the Empire would have Emperor Dimos, Lady Sorceress Hawk and Baron NightAngel.

Then each force would have a list of bots specific to the forces each of us would bring to the fray. So we'd have the Grand Wombat Legionnaires, the Echidna Spinebreaker Tunnel-Fighters, Emu Riders and Bilby Shadow-Walkers in addition to the great Golden Hordes of the Khan's Cavalry, clad in heavy Wombat armour. Meanwhile you'd have your Sorcerors and Kataphrakts and what have you.

In addition to this we could also find out what Jubal's realm is and what forces he has at his command.

I also suggest that we have a new map as while the map you have done up is very nice Dimos, we have so many other places that are not on that map.

Well do you want to play the online RPG inspired by the HILL game? or not?

And I agree for the mod provided you will make it yourself. I do not have warband!  :o

I still don't like the map. I can't remember anywhere in "King of the Hill" thread that says anything about it being based in England. And my previous statment still stands. Where's Jimbobland and the rest. Either change the name to England RPG or change the map. :(
Title: Re: the HILL RPG, Recruiting... [Medieval Britain]
Post by: Dimos on November 17, 2011, 10:31:18 AM
It's a HILL style RPG based on [medieval britain] as the title says...  ;)

Are you happy now? What do you think about the economic system and the weapons etc?  :P
Title: Re: the HILL RPG, Recruiting... [Medieval Britain]
Post by: Phoenixguard09 on November 17, 2011, 10:38:38 AM
I think that whacking someone with an axe causes more blunt trauma than whacking someone with a spear. That and as the King of Jimbobland I'd just like to point out that my royal weapon is the mighty glaive, Silverfang which I believe should have the following profile.
Glaive: Blunt:3 Cutting:5 Piercing:4 Cost:8 coins

Aside from that I like your system except we need to sort out whether we can lease out land and such. Also the cost of outfitting, recruiting and training armies and fleets and such and building fortifications and other additions to our cities. Oh and for that matter how to set up new colonies.

But I'd like a new map too, would you be ok with it if I made a new one please?
Title: Re: the HILL RPG, Recruiting... [Medieval Britain]
Post by: Dimos on November 17, 2011, 10:50:21 AM
We need to get it as sipmle as possible. And all weapons must have pros and cons...  :) If you attack someone with an axe and you have a spear you can have a way of defeating him...

If you like you can make a new map, sure that. Are you in for the game?

All players will have 10 HP if the victor in a compat demands to kill the looser, he can be either killed (if he has no more hp) or loose the amount that his resistance weapon can't hold. [ie: I have a shield and you have an axe: I loose 2 HP from your attack]

Note that each means of defence that's used to stop an attack will be either destroyed completely or damaged to the point that the attacker can acumulate damage.

If the victor demands enslavement, the enslaved player looses 0.5HP for each time he/she is driven as a slave. The slave can rebel from the next round of the game.

If the victor demands a simple novice defeat, the looser just looses the battle and the victor just gains 1experience point (+1 in either attack or defence, he chooses). The victor in all cases holds a right in the less expensive item of the looser.

Post by: Phoenixguard09 on November 17, 2011, 10:59:08 AM
Well an axe would be better in both the blunt and cutting categories while a spear would have piercing capabilities. I also propose a reach bonus as well which the spear would have over all the weapons.

Yeah I'd like to make a map. And yes I'd like to play thanks mate. :D

So have you got rules for armies on the way yet?
Title: Re: the HILL RPG, Recruiting... [Medieval Britain]
Post by: Dimos on November 17, 2011, 11:17:54 AM
Should we use a map like that:

The other ones looks more ''gamy'' though ...  :D

Armies, Kings, Mercenaries and Vassals will be nothing more than the players. We need many players so that the space will be just not enough for all so as only a Kingdom will be able to stay alive through the rounds/days/years...  :)

Each player mooves 1 rectangle per round. They can build ships if they are close to the sea, only after they build docks for 4 coins... ships cost 2 coins each.  8)

Post by: Phoenixguard09 on November 17, 2011, 12:04:54 PM
I like how you have the map divided the only problem is it being set in England. The Hill Empire and the Kingdom of Jimbobland are in a fantasy world and as such the map should represent that.
Title: Re: the HILL RPG, Recruiting... [Medieval Britain]
Post by: Dimos on November 17, 2011, 12:13:27 PM
it's set in britain. It just takes elements of the HILL game.

Look at the new map... is that better?  :D

It's better in detail of the land but thats about it. Your stubborn aren't you. You know exactly what we want in the map. And I'm in too.
Title: Re: the HILL RPG, Recruiting... [Medieval Britain]
Post by: Dimos on November 17, 2011, 11:27:09 PM
we need more men to join. A good RPG with the hill can only be successful if we have 10-20 players  :)

XD Good luck with that. You'll really need it.

Post by: Phoenixguard09 on November 18, 2011, 05:42:46 AM
I honestly don't think we'll get more than about 5 Dimos mate. Perhaps we should look at revising the premise of the RPG.

For instance set in a fantasy world. :P With us as the rulers and vassals of the kingdoms. At least that way we'd get the same sort of stuff as here but with less necessary players. :D
Title: Re: the HILL RPG, Recruiting... [Medieval Britain]
Post by: Dimos on November 18, 2011, 11:27:47 AM
If within 20 days we will still have so few players I think you can do the fantasy HILL RPG. I prefer the real world, sorry.

This map shows as well the places that by being adjustent to the land mass of the Brittish Isles can be used as bases to construct a dockyard.

Post by: Jubal on November 19, 2011, 05:04:06 PM
Unfortunately I really don't have time for this, but just a map comment...

Why are some provinces named by their capital towns and others by their counties?

Devon, Norfolk and Cornwall are counties, whereas Birmingham, Bristol, London are cities.

Also: Glasgow with a g, and Canterbury only has one r.  :P
Title: Re: the HILL RPG, Recruiting... [Medieval Britain]
Post by: Dimos on November 19, 2011, 06:14:49 PM
noted, and most will be fixed... well actually I prefered to be all in towns... like cornwall should have been in the name of the biggest town in the area... I prefer towns rather than ''Devonshire'' ''Yorkshire'' , ''Oxfordshire'', Lincolnshire'' , ''Aberdeenshire'' or ''Kent'' , ''Cornwall'' , ''Highlands'' , ect...

Jubal, join the game, it won't start too soon, we need to get some players first... I promise it wiwll be epic...  :D

To SUM up a bit: Each player starts as equal, free and in a place of his choosing. (ex: I might choose to start from Edingburg or Inverness) . Each rectangle that represents a town and its countryside can hold up to 3 players. The first player to build a ''house'' , ''mannor'' or ''castle'' becomes automaticaly the owner. Each player has the ability to move to 1 neigbouring rectangle. If a person is caught as a slave and he succesfuly rebels against his captor he has the right to moove 2 rectangles away. Docks do not claim any ownership over a region. To use another player's docks you must enter an agreement with him. he can either tax you or let you use his docks free of other charges but 2 coins for a ship. If a player decides to gather food as a hunter he must be mooving 1 rectangle each round (to find prey). All players that own ships can go fishing, just by mooving 1 rectangle each round. If you own a rectangle, you can freely tax the passer by. If he asks for a parlay you can offer him a better paying agreement. If he refuses to pay he can attack you. In an attack each player has a right to give and suffer 1 blow. The player with the less hitpoints is considered the looser. The looser can either be let free (the cheapest item he has will be taken from him), be enslaved (he loses further 1hitpoint). Or if he has no more hitpoints, he is pronounced dead and he looses the game. Each player starts with 10/10 hp energy. The players are fully free to enter and leave kingdoms, mercenary pacts, and sell items they have gathered from fights. Each player starts with his bare hands (+1 blunt damage). Buying a weapon he chooses (between blunt, pierce and cutting) the damage he will cause to others at will. Each victory over a person gives to the victor the ability to boost his attack or defense skills (+1 to attack or defense). If a device of defense is severely damaged (has no more hitpoints) is considered destroyed and can’t be used no more, unless the player buys another one.

Goal:
Winner is pronounced the player or players that having entered into community manage to outlast of all their enemies (kingdoms or individuals). Each man that claims a rectangle land piece can declare himself ruler of a sovereign state.

Possible problem: The fact that I will be both narrator and player can make the things a bit complex. I think each round (day/month in game) will last 3 days and I will post the outcomes between i.e. 12.00 and 13.00… That will give me an advantage of moves (which is bad, we need equality) unless I will have a strict plan i.e. I will pm you one day before that I will post the outcome of the round next day at 12.00-12.10 . If I do the second (which I think is more fair) but I will loose one day, the round will end next day, the same time.

I count you in Hawk. Guys, if you like tell me from which town you want to start the game. OK?  :)
I start in Edingburgh.

There are 30 regions, thus we need many players... we can either count some regions out or there will be more free regions around the game map.

Post by: Cuddly Khan on November 21, 2011, 05:04:11 AM
Yep. That looks fine. We don't really need it too detailed. On the other hand you need to add the towns and cities as dots on the map but you can keep the regions. And Jimbobland is a bit bigger ;). You can have different empires like Paxdimos, Jimbobland and Mongland which contain places like Ladyhawkville, Khanville, Nightangelia and Towerville. You know what I mean?

Do you need to put the pictures on the Internet to put them on here?

Is it going to be a King of the Hill RPG or an RPG based in the area of the King of the Hill forum game?

Is this map better, Khan? (where in A1,2,3 ect and B1,2,3 ect you can go fishing and in C1,2,3 ect you can go Hunting. In cities you can build and go farming...)

Yes I like this map much better mate.

We still need an idea of where the cities are in each region. May I suggest that only the major places get cities while the others get hamlets, villages or even no settlements at all?

Cheers and yes, count me in,
Title: Re: the HILL RPG, Recruiting...
Post by: Dimos on November 22, 2011, 02:30:01 AM
Well my thinking for the second map is that: Jimbobland, Dimohill, Ladyhawkville etc are places where towns can be build. The C-polygons are just places where the player can go hunting or he will be when he marches against the enemies...  :)

So each ''named'' polygon is 1 town and its countryside. the rest being just wastle land, wilderness and hunting places

Oh right, yeah that's very cool then.

May I please request that Phoenixguardia be renamed Rennsguardia? Simply because I don't want to have to fight a country named after myself. :P

EDIT* Oh and if we are allowed to put in requests of where we want to play, I want Jimbobland please.

You'd better be part of it. And I mean actually be part of it. I've told you over and over. Be more active. Lol Mark, it's ironic for you to berate anyone for disappearing off the radar. You, who is the master of thread-necromancy after extended absences to build your mighty power.

Hey Dimos, reckon it might be possible to have certain powers within the game that reflect how we are on the forum? For instance, Khan has necromancy, DeathNade could have wandering traveller. Or invisibility. :P Who knows?

Yes, and taking into consideration we start on monday most possibly, sounds like If  he won't reply I will place him at a ranom location and if he's under attack and he won't post that he strikes back with his weapon (starting wieapon = bare hands = 1 damage) he will be beat to death... that's a slow death...

Now for the game. Each ROUND  you declare your actions publicly [ie: Mark: I cultivate the farms of ''Austrabia'' , PG: I hunt at the forests of C8. Ladyhawk: I am fishing at A27, NightAngel: I attack Driping D at C16 with my sword's blunt damge, Dimos and Deathnade attack player X at Exilianopolis (the last in each player's post and not in a single post made by one of them) etc... ].

Once you have build at least a house you can delcare youself king/duke/emperor whatever fancies you. You can send Vassal requests either via pm or in the game thread. Diplomacy actions are enouraged such as ''reduce tax for a specific player or faction that passes peacefuly through your lands'' , ''attack player or faction'' , ''pay money as tributary vassal'' , ''gain money as a mercenary'' and whatever else fancies you...   ;)

It's a game of complete freedom!  ;D
