Title: Voice acting project?
Post by: Jubal on April 20, 2012, 10:40:16 PM
I've been wondering if we should look at undertaking a voice acting project, have everyone contribute a bunch of lines and do some kind of play or something. Maybe some Shakespeare would be cool? Any thoughts?

Yes! I love Shakespearean dialogue.

What about The Tempest as a shout? I must admit always having wanted to play Prospero, awesome character.

I love voice acting!

Though I've never read The Tempest.

I like Henry V and Othello.

There are about forty-two characters in Henry V; I'm up for it, but we'd need a lot of recruitment. If we're doing it by voice-acting without graphics, having one person per part is pretty vital. The Tempest has about twenty people needed, and Othello a similar number.

We could double up if we had a decent way of doing graphics, but filming the shots for The Teacher in AOEIII took ages and looked hellish so we'd need a much better method.

I have a good range, I can do quite a few characters but still we should pick something with not very many.

I know Macbeth quite well.

I was thinking we could just use pictures of the characters; like a wide shot for the group in the dialogue, and then closeups of their faces to show they are the ones speaking.

I'd be happy to join, but I'm not the best at drama...

Shakespeare ftw  ;D

I would, but I can't record. The mic input plug doesn't work.

That's be fun, doing some Shakespeare or something.

Just so long as everybody has a decent microphone. I can't remember who it was that didn't on The Teacher, but ow, my ears.

Shakespeare still the best idea, or should I write a script for something else?

Could we do the Doctor Who thing as voice? It would eliminate the prop problem. But probably be less awesome :/

A Who script could definitely be a plan. Hm, just need a good plot.

Some of those story lines are epic. Perhaps the best I've seen is the "Untitled 2008 Christmas special" which was "On Christmas Eve, an alien creature attaches itself to author J.K. Rowling. Suddenly, the real world is replaced by a magical reality influenced by the writer's own imagination. The Doctor must battle witches and wizards to reach Rowling and put the world to rights."

Why didn't they do it? Can you imagine The Doctor vs Voldemort?!
