Title: Name for a new release
Post by: Jubal on February 22, 2013, 10:26:09 PM
Okay, this is a surreptitious (at least on the grounds that nobody really reads this place much) announcement of the final version of WHTW. I can confirm that once we release the next version there will be no more releases (excepting patches), and that the next version will be really awesome.

So what I want to ask you all in this thread is... what should we call it?

Things I can confirm about the release:
- Lots and lots of fixes for problems
- All factions will have proper generals, faction names, and so on
- The main foci for new units will be Rebels/Mercenaries, Skaven, Beastmen, and Lizardmen
- It's going to look better than previous releases!

Current name ideas:
- Warhammer Total War: Gromril Edition
- Warhammer Total War: Rise of the Wilderness
- Warhammer Total War: A Call To Arms
- Warhammer Total War: Storm of Chaos

Currently thinking one of the middle two but feedback would be nice.  :)

Warhammer Total War: A Call To Arms
is the best one

Storm of Chaos, if you ask me.

Just a few other suggestions:
Chaos Rising, Tide of Chaos,  Faith and Steel, Empire in flames, Empire in ashes, Children of Chaos, Sigmar's Heirs, Favor of the Dark Gods, Tome of Endtimes, Slaves to Darkness.
(some of these are books)

I'll try to give some better suggestions when I finish my exams. Totally stressed out right now.

My issue with Storm of Chaos is that it implies a heavy focus on Chaos and specifically the war involving Archaon, whereas this mod is really set about a generation later in its campaign mode.

i wouldn't use Call To Arms because people will confuse it with Call of Warhammer (unless you're wanting to do that deliberately to get people googling for Call of Warhammer to find your mod)

I hadn't really thought of that; ah well, it seems to have stuck now.  :P

sure it'll be fine - it's different enough that people will still be able to tell the difference, but similar enough they might still find it when googling Call of Warhammer

Well, I for one don't really have any problem with us getting extra traffic that way.  :P
