Post by: Elenmmare on April 12, 2008, 02:53:23 PM: I figured an empty Warhammer sub-forum is always a bad idea, so voila.

My favourite race is by far the High-Elves. Following that would have to be Bretonnia or the Empire. I like the Dwarves a lot, but I've never been a Dwarf player at heart.

I don't play much anymore, due to a lack of opponent, but I like the Gotrek and Felix books so I get a lot of inspiration about dwarves and Empiremen.

So, what are your favourite races?

Simply on playstyle I'd choose undead or possibly Lizardmen, but I don't like evil or wierd races, and I like the ethos of Dwarfs (never forget), and their industrious nature appeals to me.

I still play at our local Warhammer club, where I'm organising an underway based campaign (Pentathagnus plays HE, we're going to ally and kick Skaven ass).

Post by: Gen_Glory on July 17, 2008, 09:39:07 PM: oi vile shrubo you dont have giant dinosaurs, a stegadon is probably the same size as a stegosaurus and a carnosaur is based on a very primitive reptile (postosucus, i think) probably pre- to early triassic. Terradons are based on a type of Pterosaur, some of which often had wingspans over 7 metres (20 feet)
so hah lizardmen dont hav giant dinosaurs!!

P.S: bet you didn't know but i have paleantologist to fall back on if a fail at being a scientist

after reading through this topic again i have noticed something i did not at first

you said i uses twice as many orcs, i had no orcs, only goblins and not normal goblins but Ld5 night goblins but i think your main problem in that battle was low initiative on your thane who got squished ['Mork wants ya' FTW]

so i second that Goblins FTW!

And me I've always been a High Elf player. Then I got some Wood Elves. And then Dark Elves. Then some Brets before more High Elves. And then I started Khuresh.

So my order of favourites is:

1. High Elves
2. High Elves from the Old World
3. Bretonnians
4. Emo High Elves from Naggaroth
5. Khureshi but most of the stuff I have on them, I made up. So of course I like them.

Their filth will eventually destroy all, i think its a bit weird that theres a battle kit with them in it fighting High Elves yet in all the stories and what not that Ive heard about Skaven are them overrunning Dwarven cities and underground places :P High Elves would probably dominate Skaven unless they could be whacked out bye mutant ogre rats and warp-thrower teams...

Actually as an interesting note, every time my High Elf Prince, Raethelas goes on the field he brings his Moon Dragon Minaithir. Now keep in mind that I don't, haven't and will likely never play 8th Ed but while Raethelas himself has been brought down, Minaithir has never been taken off the table.

And I've played a lot of games....

The Lammasu is a horrible waste of points in general, but just dancing round an ogre army blasting them with death magic (literally solo-killing an 800 point stack) is priceless amusement.

i) They are the bond villians of the warhammer race, complete with underground lairs and WMD's.
ii) The Skaven though lacking mass archers have flame throwers (anti-regeneration) and Ratling guns, those ponsey elves hate them ;D
iii) Doomwheels
iv) The life is cheap rule for the poisened wind globadiers is so much fun when you lob twenty into a melee. So you'll kill 10 rats, they are so much cheaper than the chaos warriors who discover they have no armour save 8).

Admittedly they have their flaws but under the latest rules at least they can hit a barn door, more than they could when I first started playing!
