Okay BETA testers, time to really use your testing skills.

First you need to create an account with Dropbox and then send me your email so I can invite you to the shared folder. Then I need you to view the 'Shared Files' thread that way you know what to look for etc.

Take the files that you see in the RTR Project Files and implement them into the 0.5 version. Then test and give your results here. You are testing everything that is posted by the modders in the Shared Files thread.

Britons lack temple descriptions
Armenian Temple to Armazd (5th level) needs description
All Greeks have same Temples (Just an observation)

Other than that it seems good. Gives the player four choices of where he'd like his settlement to focus on.

Britons will be gone with the next beta, so nothing for them. Likewise, Thrace already has Illyria's temple descriptions.
Greeks worshipped the same gods, so I made things easy for myself.

Aramazd issue fixed.

Yeah I know, I was just pointing it out. Should we keep the descriptions simple, or should we add more depth to them?

So exactly which files am I supposed to be using?  There is a file called .6 and a rar directory named .6 as well as some loose files in the dropbox.  Do I copy and paste all of them over the .5 installation and does the order matter?

After extracting the files in 0.6.rar to my RTW folder, I found that the only infantry that could be recruited by Egypt is Nubian Spearmen. Did I do something wrong? Or other units are being removed as they are ahistorical?

I did a 20 turn "hands off" testing of Spain (that is I didn't expand the territories and just built buildings and units to see how the AI would react). Around turn 10-15 the AI finally had built up enough and was making conquest on rebel territories and by the end of the session Carthage was sending some half-stacks to encroach on my borders.

Only complaints I have is that Spain starts with quite a good income (though this will be fixed later on I imagine), I didn't have to do anything except sit back, build and watch the income flow in.

I hate to say this, but 0.6 doesn't work for me. I deleted and re-installed everything, but the game just crashes while loading. No error message either.

That's probably because the desc_strat is incomplete. Ahowl still needs to tweak it a bit, because, right now, it causes CTD. Use the desc_strat from the 0.6 folder.

Double click on the shortcut. Game is loading. CTD.

It doesn't matter which version of descr_strat I use.

0.5 was working just fine, too. I'll reinstall everything one more time later, but I'd be surprised if it worked. Am I really the only one with this? The fact that there is no error message implies that it's not just some little coding issue.

Yes, and I have just done it for the 3rd time. The only thing I noticed this time is that, for some reason, 0.5 had the vanilla main menu. What on earth is going on?

You must have installed something wrong somewhere.. Go back to the 0.5 install instructions and make sure you did everything

After lots of deleting and re-installing, it looks like I managed to at least get a proper 0.5 Beta again. I'll try to install 0.6 little by little and see what file(s) are causing problems, although that won't be easy, since several of them depend on each other. But that will have to wait until tomorrow. My nerves won't take any more of this.

That makes two of us, then.

There seem to be different combinations of files that cause a textless CTD. The only file I found capable of causing a textless CTD all by itself is expanded_bi.

Just to be on the safe side: the Beta is supposed to go to RTW->data, not RTW->BI->data, right?

Well, anyway, no beta 0.6 for me.

Now the question is what I'm supposed to do from here on. I guess I can redo my previous trait work in a way that it won't affect any other files, so it shouldn't matter what beta I'm even using. Thoughts?

This makes just no sense what so ever. If you have 0.5 installed, all you have to do is download 0.6, and extract the contents of it's data folder into the data folder of 0.5..

Delete map.rwm and everything should run smoothly.

I'm not gonna continue until you we can get 0.6 working for you.

Take screens of the process and then post them here. Maybe we will catch the problem.

Actually I'm having the same problem now too, I had to reinstall the game and the 0.5 beta worked fine but when I add 0.6 it stopped working for me too.

I added a folder with some screenshots of my installing processes to the dropbox, with short explanations, since I have a German computer. Not much to see, though, and I can't even take a screen of the error message.

0.6 is added, not much to test, just check names, starting positions, and the symbols/banners.

What was changed:

All ahistorical units removed
Senate feature removed
One Roman Faction
Hellenic Kingdoms Added
Greek States Added
Eastern Kingdoms Added
Thrace changed to Barbarian Tribes
Britons Changed to Celtic Tribes
Egypt is now Ptolemaic Empire and Greek

Yeah I guess RS2 was able to use one model for every single standard bearer in the game. I'd like to know how that is possible!

How different do they look? Because I'm assuming that probably IS an alpha channels case; they're a very powerful modding tool if you use them right.  :)

Different textures assigned on the descr_model_battle for the banner unit, I would imagine.

They are all the same, holding a square and wearing the same equipment, it's just textured differently.

Hi Folks,

Just a quick update.

I appreciate we aren't looking at unit texturing at the moment, but it seems the back plate on the Hastati model is missing.

The Bruttian Rebel Hoplite Spearman seems to have an overly long spear....more like a phalangite & the melee animation doesn't match it well.

He punches with his fist with the spear pointing vertical rather than using the sharp end.

I am getting a repeatable game freeze when clicking start battle on a seige at Messana.

AI forces are:

40 strength 3 bronze chevron Hoplite
33 strength 1 bronze chevron militia hoplite
25 strength tyro militia hoplites
14 2 bronze chevron peltasts.

AI also has reinforcements that I can't detail in composition

I have a save game just prior if needed.

Balla,

1) Will be fixed with new unit
2) Is a bug with the hoplites and the formation they are in
3) Are the reinforcements in Sicily or Italy? The Game will CTD if Reinforcements try to join a battle across a landbridge.
