I totally didn't post this on facebook yesterday....
But it's an interesting theory, not sure if Tolkien intended for this interpretation though (similar to the 'is dumbledore really ron' theory)

On reflection
I quite like the Ron-Dumbledore thing but I'm utterly unconvinced the Grandpa Joe thing. The Tom Bombadil thing is, I think, much more compelling than either of those though.
