:D thought we should have a thread for it :) What genre of music do people perform/enjoy? :)

I'm a bit of everything, but like to make songs my own if I perform them :) I think my voice suits musical theatre and Celtic Women type stuff :)

And get a decent microphone :P

Well, my voice is on my YouTube channel.

I would say that I have a reasonable, albeit quite low, singing voice (Think Tom Jones).

DeepComet, are there any videos of you singing? :)

CG: LOL

MoD: Not from this Millennium, I'm afraid!

Trouble is, my mic is more for regular speaking than singing. Maybe if I get a better one, I shall serenade you...

Haha, I want a better singing one before I record too :)

Soprano rant: I recently had laryngitis, and the cold I had that led to it went on my chest, and I've not had my full vocal range for weeks :( Give me back high C-F D:

Rant over. :P

That's always the excuse; "oh my camera doesn't work" "my microphone doesn't work" "I have a deadly respiratory disease" wahwahwah. :P

Some of us have to work within very sensitive parameters!

I just always end up really dissatisfied with recordings I make - I like singing but I don't actually like the sound of my own voice.

^ Ditto! I get really embarrassed hearing myself sing :(

You don't have to listen to it. We want to. :)

The music in the background of this video is MoD singing a song she composed when she was 14 (she was 15 in the recording). Her voice has matured more since then, I'll try to persuade her to sing soon :P .

(The voice-over stops about 10 seconds from the end).

Mind the gap.

That was nice. :)

I wish I could listen to it properly without the annoying voice over the top. It sounds awesome.

We had a songs & stories of Middle-Earth evening at CTS yesterday - I may record some of my contributions if I get time :)

^ Is this where Will You Follow Me came from? :)

I want to cover Billy Boyd's The Last Goodbye for the channel, but I have a horrible cold and can't sing properly :( Also need to learn it better :P also, need to stop crying every time I hear it :P

Also, hope it's possible to do with a soprano range without sounding silly :P

I've got my own versions of Misty Mountains Cold and Gimli's song in Moria that I should record too  :)

DO IT :D

I made up a quick tune to Galadriel's song of Eldamar a few weeks ago,and recorded it one my laptop, but it's accapella and the sound quality is terrible because I used the in-built mic :P

And a song I wrote about the battle of Abanulbizar. I can probably now do a roughly 20 minute set entirely comprised of dwarf songs :P

Other vocalists: do you also have a love/hate relationship with this season? Weather is nice to look at at times, it's not too hot, but TOO MANY COLDS/COUGHS :(

Listen to my version of Durin's song and you can probably pick up the answer to that :(

Cannot believe how tough some of the music is for the choir to learn!
Latin is tough enough for children 11 and under, but the tune and rhythm (and lack thereof in places) of this particular song is going to be really hard.
Usually I can pick up a song in 10-15 minutes when I need to, but wow :(

Had a Doctor Who Soc music night earlier. Was feeling rough but the five other people who turned up seemed to like the song I wrote for it :)

*Waves*

If ever you need a Tenor at home in the Anglican Choral tradition (with a particular fondness for early music) I am your guy.

Turning it round, if you could have anyone's voice, who would it be? My Target would be Ian Bostridge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lncPMZz5lxc

I'm singing Ave Maria at a funeral this morning.
Feeling incredibly sick and nervous :/

How did it go?

It went alright I think - I was incredibly nervous though. I was shaking so hard during the practice that my voice disappeared :/ But the sound came out for the real thing, and I think the family were happy. :)
