Title: Age of Tyrants - Main Thread
Post by: Jubal on February 15, 2015, 05:22:19 PM
So this is my latest game project, on which more to come soon.

The aim is to create an immersive, detailed game that captures the loose but deadly political structures of the archaic greek period. As oligarchs of a medium sized polis city-state, you are locked in a no-holds-barred struggle for turannos - the total political dominance of the tyrant. The still-developing political structures of the city are weak, flexible, and provide one arena for struggle; you can also work to increase your personal prestige by displays of public power, building up a retinue, and showing visible respect for the gods. The law courts are yet another arena for conflict, as you try to gain allies and trap, fine, or exile your opponents.  As you circle each other around the council areas or acropolis, though, the charged political atmosphere is starting to spill out into the rest of the city. In the agora, the populace mill around and a skilful orator can start to make them realise their own political power and build a popular alliance. At the docks, merchant adventurers, wandering poets, Phoenecian traders, philosophers, and mercenary soldiers disembark, all ready to make their mark on the city. Military power, politics, prestige; all three will combine in the contest for domination.

So that's the basic blurb  :) More to follow!
