Title: Southern Realms; Main thread and Latest Release

This is Mount & Blade as you've NEVER seen it before. Southern Realms adds a lot of variety to the game, giving you more opportunities, skills, and... and I'll let the features list do the talking, since I'm rather chuffed with it myself.

<big>MBRepsitory Download Link (http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=1688)</big>

------------------------------------------------------------

Main Features List:
- Map almost doubled in size from native, showing the Nord homelands, the mighty Empire of Gorinia to the south, and more!
- An extra 18 factions, each with new lands, troops, and heroes.
- Naval travel and combat adds a new dimension to the game; battle cutthroat Nordic pirates or the proud Alanian navy at sea with 2 different ship types and improved boarding ability.
- Foxyman's formations give you the ability to command your troops with deadly precision, but beware; morale failing is now a real problem that can crush the cohesion of your forces.
- Huge troop trees, including several non-faction ones.
- Religions; join the Orinite, Varalite, or Conirile churches to gain access to their holy men, healers, and (of course) battle-hardened religious warriors...
- Face enemies with powerful special abilities such as healing nearby troops, raising morale, or even regenerating health in battle.
- Become a Town Watch commander, with control over the defences of one of the many new or old cities in Calradia
- Hunt deer and boar for food or trophies; these latter can even be taken and sold to those who want them...
- New locations, including country taverns, two universities, and the rogue outpost at Jarren's rock
- Learn one of three skill sets, allowing you an incredible amount of choice in your character development. Either train as a barbarian with the Doaghan, or an Assassin in the alleys of Harlaushia, or learn the arts of command with general Tataca.
- Pubs are rather more interesting; meet the gamblers and drunks of Calradia, along with new mercenary forces that you can hire!
- A ton of other special features; villages now spawn refugee parties when burned, new bandit types roam the map, several companions require quests to allow you to hire them, and troops can be hired in city marketplaces.
- Other new features include shield bashing and spear bracing, both employed by the AI as well as your own forces.

Awesome mod!!!  Thank you Jubal.

Having a blast playing but I am getting a lot of lag on the world map.  I thinks its from the ships.  Is there anyway to git rid of them so it just shows groups walking across the water.  It would look odd but way better than the lag.  I seen this work in Roots of Yggdrassil Mod but unsure how it was done.

I completely missed the new release. I'll d/l it in a bit. I have to finish my current bout of AI mesh editing.

Enar: are you playing with all parties visible? If you do, it will lag unavoidably.

The trouble is not the ships, it's just the sheer number of parties on the SR map. There are tons and tons more than in native, and all the little walking animations create the lage.

I just started playing for about half an hour now, and have run into my first issue. I was contracted by a fellow in haralushia to whack a dude in a town named halshan. The problem is that when I enter the village, i end up with an error code by the name of "Unable to load scene objects! scn_village_105". While I know this is not exactly a bug, since you have most likely not finished scening this place, i was thinking a list could be drawn up of all the currently scened and unscened areas.

Also, i found it funny that my father could be a "Priests" when starting out. While I am guessing that is a placeholder, it seems like an easy fix.

Post by: Jubal on February 21, 2010, 10:20:12 AM
I know the sentence doesn't make sense with the priests thing, but the logic does. I'll edit the top of the menu or something so the English works as well as the theory.

You are wholly correct that not all scenes are done; xGhost4000x is doing a sterling job, but it's pretty difficult to scene a mod this big. If you take a look at the "SR: How You Can Help" thread there's more info on how you guys playing the mod can chip in there.

Glad you got it working, Maximus.

Saiyan, it's a nice thought but the trouble is that in big mod teams nobody can ever agree on anything, hence the fact I can make mods on my own much bigger and faster than some really big teams. :P

Fair enough jubal but, i was wondering as i've not played the mod extensively yet, have you made some improvements on the mercenary crossbowmen as I liked that mercenary a lot and found him really useful in the other mods and native, but he always died too quick as his armour was pants, really useful at taking down the inqusistion troops in TWD though, those grand inquisitors are scary sods one on one.

The merc troop tree is very different to native; there are Rhodok merc crossbowmen to be hired which should be useful to you, and also many high level "mercenary captain" style troops have crossbows. I can't remember what became of the old crossbowman mercs, I think they're still in there though (they almost certainly have another tier you can upgrade them to now which should be good for what you want).

I downloaded mount and blade on steam and im just wondering if the mods will work with it? :/ :/

Not sure about making mods work with steam, ask on TaleWorlds maybe. I've never used steam so I don't know how mods work with it, although I'm sure it's possible somehow.

Hey I'd just like to say that the mod is really great.

Only problems I've had is I don't know how to get the ships to the Nord homeland. When I go to the docks in Wercheg I can only walk around in an alleyway, and when I go to the docks in Tihr, the guy who's standing there doesn't tell me how to get the boat, only that I am annoying him or something   ...

Also, a few of the village and castle scenes in the kingdom of Harlaushia seem to be broken. Anyway, GREAT MOD! Thanks :D

You need 2500 denars to buy a ship. When you ahve that just go to the dockland menu and the option to buy a ship will appear. :)

Hi. Amazing stuff what i read in here. I both Mount and Blade Warband for the first time now and as a medieval period fan i am hooked.
But  as i reed trough what the mod brings i can't stop wondering why didn't tale worlds make these improvements themselfs?

Anyhoo , great job with the mod .

And now the main question , does it work with warband? If not is there a mod out there that does ,something similar to this one , i really like what this mod brings to the table

Seeing as Southern Realms is what could be seen as the poster-mod of Exilian, I dare not touch it. :P

Given that it's got a very playable downloadable release, I don't think it'll ever quite count as dead. It's inactive at the moment, but I think if a mod has a good playable release then it's definitely not worth removing or archiving it. And if I get WB at some point I'll probably try and port the thing as well.

Hello again Jubal
Still playing SR regularly although still experiencing the old crash problem after 300+ play days.

Does the new thread started in June mean that the mod is going to be added to or is that too much to hope given that you are a busy man?

Either way,  best regards

I do not have sufficient time to work on it - I dearly wish I did, but I have to draw lines somewhere and I'm awful at taking on too many projects. I am of course happy to provide anything necessary to help others do so.

Title: Re: Southern Realms; Main thread and Latest Release

Find the relevant scene files, put them in a zip, then upload them to a filesharing site of your choice.  :)
Title: Re: Southern Realms; Main thread and Latest Release
Post by: Cuddly Khan on December 12, 2012, 10:59:19 AM
...But what if I'm not a member of any filesharing site? :( We really really really need a uploading plugin for Exilian.
Title: Re: Southern Realms; Main thread and Latest Release
Post by: Jubal on December 12, 2012, 12:05:45 PM
Loads of filesharing sites don't require you to become a member.

We could start our own upload server, but the issue is fundamentally that we'd need more webspace and that would cost more money. We can dump some files on our own servers, but we can't host all our own mods - if we did we'd just run out of space very rapidly.

When im playing on the fullscreen mod and try to buy armor some times it says that Some items are missing so a error message comes up but i cant say ok to them, so it just stays there and the game crashes, so could you make an patch where the missing items are in the game, and i cant play the windowed mod because of this, Windowed mode is annoying! Is there a solution to this problem when i play in windowed mode, when i go to battles you can still see the arrow that you use to select things is present in the battles and when i press the mose buttons the arrow responds too. So when i try to battle i can accitendly press stuff that i dont want to press like i might turn of the game for an accident, is there any way to disable the arrow in battles?

The stuff on windowed mode isn't affected by SR, so I'll leave that.

I'm not sure which armours don't work and currently I don't have the scripts with me to work it out, I haven't worked on SR in quite some time. Can you tell me what exactly the error message is that you're getting?

It says that some Zendarian armors are missing (Zendarian officer helms)
