A vicar has revived an ancient law to call members of her parish together for archery practice.
The Reverend Mary Edwards, of Collingbourne Ducis, near Marlborough, called residents to the village recreation ground on Friday.
Residents were rewarded for complying with the law with a bar, a barbecue and live music.
Church warden Mike Cox said: "It seems she's still entitled to do that."
I have never supported a Church of Englad actvity this much. Utter WIN. :D

I agree. I love Archery.
I'm also quite a dab hand at it.
I want our local parish to do this.

I've never learned properly... my total lack of co-ordination doesn't bode well though. :P
Nevertheless, I'd like to learn sometime.

It's not that hard... I've practiced it several times. A steady hand is all you need.

I've done a bit of archery, it's good fun. Glad to see this law still exists and can be used. Is it option or compulsory though? I know back in Medieval times it was compulsory, was it changed?

I think they repealed the one that made it totally compulsory, but it seems they haven't repealed one allowing parish priests to summon their flock for it. :D

that is pretty neat, i've got a nice long bow at home myself :)

I wish something like that would happen where I live...
