Haha, thanks guys. Jubal, now that you mention it, yes, the sudden rhyme scheme does feel kinda weird. Might change it up later...

Stories and AARs / Treachery, Discord, and Chaos
« on: November 16, 2014, 01:24:22 PM »
Treachery, Discord, and Chaos is a series of three books (or novellas) I am co-writing alongside a friend.

Set in a fantasy world full of lore and intrigue, much of the tale takes place in Tarmulin, the largest continent in the known world. Tarmulin is a land that has always been ripe with trouble. Divided by several kingdoms vying for dominance with old ties and grudges dating back hundreds of years, war is inevitable, and a constant itch on border tensions. To add more to the toil, many have turned their backs from the old Hermanic Gods, claiming allegiance to Saint "Elim", and to the Ubner who rules from his high seat in Grannot. Some even say talk of rebellion is astray in the Kingdom of Ethre... the land where the story of our hero, Lord Cereminner, begins.

Betrayed, framed, and left for dead, Lord Cereminner must free a king, revive a nation, gain new allies, and perhaps even save Tarmulin itself in order to stop the spreading flames of war. Treachery, Discord, Chaos.

You can read all the novellas/books so far below. Treachery was completed last summer but is still always up for reviews and comments and criticism. A Tale of Discord is currently being written. For your reference, curiosity, and as guide as you delve into our world, I will see about making the background and lore available to you. I will speak to my friend about that.... Oh, and just so you know. Neither of us have ever read Game of Thrones, but are great fans of LotR. Any similarities to GoT are purely coincidental, we are making this tale our own.

Arts, Crafts, Music & Drama - The Artisans' Guilds / Re: Favourite song?
« on: November 16, 2014, 12:43:05 PM »
Favorite song is hard for everybody. Personally, I don't have any ultimate ones. I go through moods and feelings... and since I'm young I go through ages and phases. Right now my favorite songs are...

What Difference Does It Make, by The Smiths (quite simply because Morrissey is one of the greatest lyricists in the world)
Politicians In My Eyes, by Death (no, not the metal band. All African-American proto-punk band from the early 70's)
Jolene, cover by The White Stripes (Specifically the Blackpool lights performance)
Nightcall, Kavinsky (Might know it from the film Drive)

A lot of these I just jot down, not caring for rhyme much at first. If I can't think of a tune for it, I call it poetry. XD I like to play with my stuff visually as well. XD Enjoy, here are some I've done in the past. All comments and advice are very welcome.

The Dreamer

The Dreamer,
Mind lost
           out the window

                         Into an endless tomorrow.

The monotonous shades
Of black-white                         invisible,

                                        To the miraculous
                                            Spectrums
                                        Of his imagination.

All watch with
Tamed eye,
Capturing the moment in
      Sickled hands
                        Sharp as ambition.
The Dreamer sees.
Goes forward,
                                                                                    up.
                                                         only
                                  though

The Stars are Dead

The Stars were dead
And nobody knew it.
All lay in fluffed beds
Not worried a single bit.

The Stars were dead.
Not even the scientists knew.
All went on day to day,
Trapped to their lives and work like glue.
No one had to worry
About what drifted
Above.

Nobody knew
The Stars were dead until
All was Black.
Swept in a pastoral darkness
So thick
Not even the warmest life
Could puncture it.

The Stars are dead.

Walk

Walk
Just walk.
To move is to live and to stay
Is to die.
Walk.

The road is barren
Trees are staring
The very air choking and burning
Your very lungs.
Walk.

The night is near
Though nothing is here.
Not even the stars,
Clouded by tar.

The sides of the street
Padded with feet
Are filled with
Them.
Just staring at Them
You know that they did not
Walk.

A Knock

A knock
At the door.
Two men broad with frowns
And downcast eyes.
Uniforms adorned with color and metal
                              The American flag.

You drop the letter.
The very envelope weighted like stones.
Words from mocking mouths and false sympathies:
                             He fought for his country.

You cannot hear more
Knowing that there will be no more
Birthdays or smiles or joy
Or your own baby boy.
Shutting the door,
                                Lies lies lies.

Thanks! Forgot to mention that I've been playing guitar for around five years now. By looking at some other people's profiles I can see there are lots of others who play too.

Hello all! You can call me Captain or... Nips. That might feel weird though! Haha, or say the whole thing if ya want. Your great KHAAAAAAAAAAAANN sent me here. I met him on a Metro 2033 RP site, where I act as a member of staff.

Anyways. I'm a guy, 16. I'm from Texas but live in Japan, where I go to an international school. My interests lie in history, science, reading, writing and music. I have a brutal relationship with math... which is probably why I slowly drifted away from learning javascript after a few lessons on code academy. Games are still a great enjoyment of mine, though. Ever since the Last of Us and Red Dead Redemption and all those other tear-jerkers, I am convinced games are one of the best mediums of storytelling. Big movie and documentary buff here too.

I love any kind of writing. From poems, short stories, to songwriting, I find enjoyment in all of it! Last summer, a novella I co-wrote with a friend was finally finished. Being fantasy fans we just had to go all Tolkien on it as well, creating a whole background and history for this one world. I'm also working on a sci-fi choose-your-own using the inklewriter tool, which has slowed with the emergence of a new post-apocalyptic novel idea of mine. Music is my other love. I enjoy all genres and think each one has good representatives. I write music but do not know music theory... which explains why I am huge fan of punk and am one myself XD. Classic and anarcho-punk is more my forte (Dead Kennedys, Clash, Subhumans, Black Flag, Crass, UK Subs, etc). But again, I enjoy all music!

That's basically me in a nutshell. I really look forward to this site and do think it'll help to accelerate all of my creative processes. Even better, maybe I'll try an attempt at coding and modding again...? I'll be taking this community slowly, life and its many responsibilities, so bear with me if I stutter in activity until the holidays. Thanks!

...... I just realized there are Lotr emojis! This site earns 1,000 cool points. Also saw there was a dude name Glaurung here. It took much restraint to not change my alias to Turin Turambar.  :gollum:
