RTR 0.5 Imperial Campaign / Re: RTR Developer Walkthrough
« on: April 20, 2014, 09:26:17 PM »
I changed my name for the IRC, and that seems to have been the problem.  I can stop by there under "aqui1a".

Could someone please enlighten me on what I am supposed to do with this SVN thing?

I have been trying to get on the IRC, but nothing happens when I hit "Start".  Except once, at apparent random.  I was then told I can't be Aquila, then I saw ahowl say I could probably change now, and when I couldn't find how, I closed the tab and made a new one to log in from, and nothing still happens when I hit "Start".

Those are pretty good trees.  I cropped them like this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I think it was a decent crop.

I had some difficulty distinguishing which were Roman soldiers in the UI topic.  :-\  I guess I need to call up my optometrist.  Should we compile the UIs here, or the AEE ones?

Maybe we can set up a Roman Preview after the Roman roster is finished? We need more attention at TWC.
Going off this, I am thinking an all-Roman preview might be a nice way we can start our publicity on Total War Center.  We could use parts of the U.I. and Unit Making Threads and some other Rome-related stuff.  What that stuff may be I have little idea.  Do we have new banners, buildings, or things related to the campaign map?

I will take it that is a nomad city strat map model.

Thank you Bercor.  Keep up the good work, gentlemen!

I recently accepted an invitation from ahowl11 to be in charge of the preview, announcement, and release threads as a sort of promoter/public relations person for Total War Center.

For the sake of organization, I have created this thread where we can put any images or information on our progress that would be useful to put in announcement thread(s) for Total War Center all in one place.  Right now I won’t be too picky on what to put here, so feel free to post screenshots, updates, milestones, UIs, or any other mod progress updates with the mod here.

Since this is 280 B.C., Pyrrhus of Epirus would be alive for eight more years.  Historically, there would have been a fully developed Epirus, along with southern Italy supporting Pyrrhus' campaigns in 280 B.C.  Three years later he would control most of Sicily, minus the west part, which contained Lilybaeum, that still belonged to Carthage.  How could we incorporate this into the mod?

RTR 0.5 Imperial Campaign / Re: Announcement/Discussion: Faction List

Sorry that I only made two posts and disappeared.  Internet issue and beta testing trouble due to being new to this.

Anyway, one problem that I noticed in BETA testing the Gauls for 0.5 (do you still want that report ahowl11?) is that it took the Julii nineteen turns to summon the guts to attack me.  Granted, I sort of blitzed northern Italy and they got no rebel cities there, but it was sheer passiveness that I didn't expect to happen from Rome. Do factions specifically like to pick on smaller/weaker ones?  If so, I have a possible solution to that if we don't want to make the AI attack certain settlements.

If we wanted to be historically accurate, the Gauls didn't exist, they were a conglomeration of various tribes.  We could shrink Gaul's borders into a tribe or two, and have it become something Rome is more willing to take a stab at.  Europa Barbarorum uses the Aedui and Arveni, for example, competing for France while the Aedui have a foothold in Italy.

The problem with this is that I can't think of a tribe or confederation large enough to be something that plausibly controlled parts of Italy and France.  Confederations of tribes that I know of are Hevetii (border the Alps), Aedui (near the Rhone and Loire Rivers), and Nervii (in Belgium).  The Gauls were simply too fractured.  Vercingetorix did make an alliance with a lot of Gaulish tribes though.  If we do that we could theoretically make Gaul whatever size we want and call it the Gaul Alliance or a Gaulish confederacy of some sort.

My name is Aquila, and ahowl11 (somehow) recruited me for history, research, discussion, and whatever I may end up having enough competence to accomplish for the mod.

This is the first time I have done any sort of modding.

- Custom Settlement Plans. Once we have a finished map we should research the cities we can and make unique settlement plans for cities, that way it's not the same set up for every siege. RTH has a few custom settlement plans. I'll have to check them out
I am pretty sure I can find basic city layout with major streets for several cities from ancient times.  Whether or not they are on the internet so that I can send to you is a different matter altogether, but I don't expect Google Images will fail us for the concept art.  The main problem tends to be beyond major streets it can quickly degenerate to artists' impressions.

Will there be an acropolis in some Hellenic cities?
