Finished/Dead Mafias and RPGs / Finished/Dead Mafias and RPGs
« on: March 31, 2014, 07:46:04 AM »
This is a thread so that if I accidentally moved anything to the 'Finished" section that I was supposed to (Sorry about that in advance) than you can request it moved back. I've locked all other threads that I've moved in here so if you want a specific thread to be moved than you'll have to tell me the mane of the thread.

The stuff that I move into here are threads for Mafias and RPGs that are finished/dead or discussions or ideas of Mafias and RPGs that are dead and haven't been posted in for 120+ days.

Finished/Dead Mafias and RPGs / Lets Get This Started Again
« on: March 22, 2014, 08:43:21 AM »
About an hour ago I had an idea to start a new RPG based on The Hill RPG that finished a year and a bit ago. Than I also realized that I hadn't seen anyone post here for a very long time. I've gone ahead and unstickied and locked the threads that I think need to be (Sorry if I overstepped my privileges).

My idea is to have an RPG that is a "move one space one turn" type game like The Hill RPG. But this time it will be set in a space station. My idea is to have people in a space station there for some reason of their own, some people to find out what happened to it, others to salvage it's equipment or were there to start off with etc. The basic plan is to have a 2 story map with rooms and corridors numbering about 100 on each. You can move two blocks each turn and search the block you're in for anything that you can use (Bandages, improvised weapons etc.). In specific rooms you can find stuff associated with those rooms. There will also be events in some rooms, such as a button that shuts off the power or maybe a place on the second floor that you may fall through. There are other stuff to flesh out and such but they are the basics.

Now, the purpose isn't to be the last person or team left but to finish an objecting that relates to your character, if you are a scavenger than you may want to kill everyone else so that you can have everything to yourself, you may team up if you want to but keep in mind that the other person may not be who they say they are. the game will be played mostly through PM via me so that you can send me your actions without giving away your position to others. You will have to find each other. If you can see each other than you can talk to each other, but someone may overhear.

No one will know who each other are, you will have to find out in game. You also have no obligation to tell anyone who you are and what you're doing there. I will tell you what equipment you start with so that everyone starts evenly. Some people may be able to do stuff on the map that other's can't depending on what they choose to be.

Now, this is all just a rough idea that came to mind very recently so I haven't fleshed it out properly yet. Please tell me if you're interested and what you think of my ideas or if you have any other ideas of your own to add.

Southern Realm / Southern Realm: Resurected
« on: November 12, 2013, 07:45:32 PM »
So, who's interested? I'm planing on using the Floris Mod Pack because it adds so much more items and stuff. So what I think I will do is get the map file from the Southern Realms and (I think it should be compatible) put it in the Floris mod pack. Actually, I wouldn't be able to upload it so could someone else please do that and upload? We can start from there.

If anyone has anything against using the Floris Mod Pack than please post. Maybe we only need the Diplomacy mod with a few other added items and stuff.

Finished/Dead Mafias and RPGs / RPG Map and Stuff
« on: August 07, 2013, 01:24:35 PM »
Ok, so I'm making a map for an RPG, the same style as "The Hill" one, except much more sensible. A proper fantasy world. The Map is a WIP at the moment. It's very big. I'm wondering, should it be an RPG with towns and stuff already there with shops and roads and stuff and you start as one person (Like a normal RPG) or should I make it a settling RPG where you start with a Boat full of people and enough resources to build a small settlement and you build roads and expand the empire yourself and have armies. Kind of like the one that PG and I wanted to do.

With the map I still got to add borders and squares and other stuff like that. The image is a bit big so you may want to zoom out to see it all.
Spoiler: WIP Of map. (click to show/hide)

Forum Games - The Beer Cellar! / Fortunately, Unfortunately
« on: December 10, 2012, 07:49:45 PM »
I'm not sure if you all already know how to play this but here goes.

One person say something good happens and the other something bad happens.

eg.
Person 1: Once upon a time there was a princess, unfortunately she was stuck in a tower.
Person 2: Fortunately, one day, a prince came to save her.
Person 3: Unfortunately the prince fell down a hole on the way there and died.
Person 2: Fortunately there were some stairs so the princes could just walk out anyway.

etc.

Ok, so I'll start.

One day Bob was on his way to the pool to have a swim, unfortunately it started raining.

Discussion and Debate - The Philosopher's Plaza / Belief

This guy made such an awesome point that I just had to post it here:

I don't know if I hate this kind of post or not. I am personally bothered by it, because it reminds me of people who believe in ghosts or god, or aliens, Bigfoot...on and on. without any real reason too other then it cramps their tiny brain and somehow gives them a retard hard on. If you are just trying to have some fun and be imaginative cool beans, other wise...Yawn. Admittedly it would be cool if there was some random hidden NPC dangers lurking in the zone untold.
There's no really substantial reason to believe in ghosts or Bigfoot (that I'm aware of) but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss God or aliens. It is speculated, that there are thousands of potential planets out there that can support life (though no proof exists). In the countless galaxies that exist, and within them the billions of stars/planets, don't you think it's a bit unreasonable to think that people don't have a good reason to believe aliens exist .

Similarly, there are many things that make a universe without a creator of some kind implausible. This is not to say that it's likely there is a creator, but I would say that we should all try to be a bit more open minded about such possibilities.

Besides, why should it bother you in the slightest what other people believe in? As long as they don't go around shoving it in your face, does it really matter that some people believe in ghosts? What automatically makes it so that anyone who thinks ghost exist, do so to get a "retard hard on"? Or have I misunderstood your statement?

Personally, this stuff is all really entertaining. I love the fact that some of it could be true -- if I made a game, it'd have loads of tiny cool stuff in it. I love Easter Eggs, or other hidden discoveries waiting to be found.
Why not? There's no evidence for him, so why are you not as quick to dismiss God as you are Bigfoot?

This is actually a very misleading statement, and I question whether you know what the definition of evidence is or not. Evidence does not mean solid proof, evidence means, "The available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid." Clearly, by that definition, we can determine that evidence only means something that suggests a certain proposition is true. You know how when you're watching all of those crime T.V. shows, and they're dealing with the law, evidence can be anything and everything that supports a proposition? Witness testimony is a form of evidence -- this is because evidence is a broad term that applies to a range of things.

The arguments that true infinities are implausible, and as such the universe did have a definitive beginning; the simple question of "why something, rather than nothing?"; the fundamental physical constants are set to such a narrow range that if they were changed in minor amounts the universe would be totally inhospitable to life; the list goes on and on and on (I have about 12 more by rough estimation in mind). There are many reasons to believe in a God, one shouldn't simply dismiss the possibility of any evidence existing.

Like what? If you say ANYTHING about the eye I'm going to punch you

"Science adjusts its views based on what's observed. Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved." - Tim Minchin

If I were you, I would've used one with some substance and wit, such as, "In the beginning, man created God.". Of course, neither quote is relevant to discovering what the *truth* is, they're only used to insult the other side of the argument. There's plenty of evidence and reason to believe in a God, but there is also plenty of evidence and reason to not believe in a God. To have faith and absolute faith are two entirely different things. Faith on its own, is not an inherently negative or close-minded thing. It can be both, but only in the case of absolute faith (which many theists do have admittedly).

“Atheism is so senseless. When I look at the solar system. I see the earth at the right distance from the sun to receive the proper amounts of heat and light. This did not happen by chance." -Sir Isaac Newton

Cute quotes, that they are, but both irrelevant. Plenty of theists, in spite of their faith, are open to reason. What I find really funny, is that many theists admit that they're close-minded... yet atheists who are obsessed with being open-minded are entirely close-minded to the idea of any God existing.

Tl;dr: Don't dismiss the possibility of evidence supporting a certain proposition. This is not the place to have a religious debate, so please, let's not try to insult other people's beliefs.

Is anyone here good at writing lyrics for songs? Me and my friends band at school just made a song (I wrote it) and now we need some lyrics to go with it. I may be able to record and upload a recording for you to work with but not any time soon. We may be able to write our own but just in case...

Discussion and Debate - The Philosopher's Plaza / Googling Bing
« on: September 05, 2012, 11:42:07 AM »
Hmm, I found something out a few days ago. I was at school in the Computer Lab when the teacher saw me searching up Bing in Google; or maybe it was searching Google in Bing. Anyway, the teacher started saying stuff like "Don't do that! You could kill us all!" and stuff like that. Turns out that when we search up Bing using the search engine Google than the Universe ends. The only thing stopping this is that in another dimension someone else is Googling Google, which saves the Universe. Oh, and there was also something about Cleverbot turning into the Terminator in the future when it gets smart enough and learns too much.
