Good to know!

There will be other torsos and perhaps I'll leave them as raw muscles :)

The next thing using this sculpt will be a warboss scale model inspired by Immortan Joe  8)

That's kinda funny - I actually added putty to cover up the definition! Originally he had virtually raw musculature on there:

Hope you get permission to release it commercially
I hope so too! Either way though it'll be useful as a basis for some large Orc models.

is it that you need permission from the original artist for the concept essentially?
No - concepts aren't protected by intellectual property law. The model is a direct adaptation of his artwork - it's not inspired by it or anything like that. The goal in creating it was to make a derivative work.

19
I was considering it but time was against me on that one. The deadline for the competition was today. I emphasise "today" because I don't know when today! I was uploading the video at five in the morning (BST?) and so considered tracking down some suitable music, adding some titles, etc.. but sleep beckoned.

I was asleep a little after six and it turned out I had a dental checkup at 1030. Oops. Well my teeth are apparently healthy so that's excellent!

The other caveat with this model is that I don't have permission to release it commercially. I'm going to see if I can get permission though!

I've been working on something for a competition over on YakTribe.

Based on Clayton Tait's artwork, created under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 UK: Scotland license for this Gorkamorka scenario:

He's, well, pretty huge:

Here's a video of him:

Work on him started here and there's more photos here.

General Gaming - The Arcade / Re: Dawn of War III Announced

It seems unlikely to me that other races won't be added. Perhaps there's something I've missed that specifically says it'll always just be those three?

It has Orks and as such I am interested.

Fox Box / Fox Box Medium Wheels (War Rig and Worn respectively)

Got plans for a vehicle using Craig's awesome engines? You'll need some wheels then  ^-^

Unless otherwise stated our wheels all use the standard 4mm diameter axle that seems to have become the de-facto standard.

I've been working on something for a YakTribe competition and this month's theme seemed right up my street.
Some years ago we wrote a Halloween scenario entitled "Frankenork" that was accompanied by a brilliant illustration by Clayton Tait:

I'm not sure if I'm good enough at sculpting to do it justice yet but I think I'm probably far enough along to give it a go!

So, basic parts:

Miscast legs, miscast torso (both my own sculpts)

Using the legs as a base I've started on a new set of legs. I thought I took some intermediary shots but apparently not - these are still going to be redone in a while. The general idea is to block out the approximate proportions and try to get the scale right:

You might notice that the monster only has nine toes. Check the illustration...

Lots more reworking still to be done but the general build is coming together:

Work continues  :D

It still amuses me that the complicated stuff I sculpt is so easy to cast but chunky regular shapes cause no end of problems.
This feels like the third attempt at these damned things but I think I've cracked it at last:

They're available as 2, 4, or 6 wheels (with the price per unit going as volume goes up, as one might expect):

I really like the visual style!

Fox Box / Fox Box Basic Orc Heads
« on: March 27, 2016, 03:15:18 PM »
These are my latest attempt at Orc heads. They're not as swish as some of the excellent work done by other sculptors but it's nice to have some that can be used as the default heads for my own range.

Oh and they can be yours if you like. Much like the legs they're pretty cheap.

Fox Box / Fox Box Orc Riot Shields (version 2.0 - now with clubs!)
« on: March 26, 2016, 04:49:47 AM »
So these have gone through several iterations dating back to, erm, you know, I'm not entirely sure how far. Let's say 2012, that sounds about right.

Since then we've had version 1.50 which came with redone musculature (as frankly the old sculpt wasn't all that great - yeah, you can blame me for that one). Since then I've made a fair few casts but that mould is now residing firmly in donesville. Wait, that makes it sound finished rather than defunct. Defunctsville just doesn't have the same ring to it though, does it?

Right, they look like this and come with a variety of means of administering blunt trauma:
