Never Forget (The Young'uns): Album Chords/Lyrics
« on: July 17, 2016, 11:45:33 PM »
There may be a few of these popping up, I keep meaning to transcribe folk chords and when I get round to it I figure I may as well post them.

This thread will be for anything from the Young'uns album "Never Forget". (For those who don't know them, they're an amazing male voice trio from up north, they do amazing harmony stuff as well as being extremely funny on stage.)

Altar

I meant to build an altar
G              Em        G
When I was a beardless boy
Em                G             Em
But my roses turned to bread
C                                  G
And my sorrow turned to joy
Em                  G             D
I meant to build an altar
G               Em           G
When the horse began to weep
Em                    G             Em
And the prayers of the mountain
C                                G
Sang me off to sleep
G            D       Em

I meant to build an altar
When the days of darkness came
When the wolves bayed in the woods
And the devil knew my name
And the angels came a-riding
On steeds so white and gay
I meant to build an altar
Perhaps I will someday

I meant to build an altar
When I was a beardless boy
But my roses turned to bread
And my sorrow turned to joy
I meant to build an altar
When the horse began to weep
And the prayers of the mountain
Sang me off to sleep
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...

Another one transcribed:

Rosario Lyrics

Early in the morning, the moon was in the sky;
Em      Am     Em       G               Am           Em
Early in the morning, I kissed my love goodbye.
Em       Am    Em          D                     Em
For kissing time is over,
D                           Em
And it's time and time to go,
D                                Em
And we've a long long road to travel,
G                             D               Em
To Rosario...
Em

Wake her! Oh shake her!
Am             Em
The Peter's flying free,
Am              Em
The pilot's come aboard her
G                D               Em
And she's hungry for the sea.
               D                     Em
For kissing time is over,
D                           Em
And it's time and time to go,
D                                Em
And we've a long long road to travel,
G                             D               Em
To Rosario
Em    D   Em

And now she smells the deep sea,
And now she's gathering way,
And soon she'll meet the rollers,
In a white smother of spray
And it's southwest! And a half west!
And steady as we go!
We've a long long road to travel,
To Rosario...

Wake her! Oh shake her!
The anchor chain comes in,
So a roaring shanty chorus
Will make the capstan spin!
For kissing time is over,
And it's time and time go go,
And we've a long long road to travel,
To Rosario,

The summer will soon be gone, lass,
The leaves will fade and die,
And white on every furrow,
The winter snows will lie
But we're bound for the long, long furrow
Where never lies the snow,
We've a long long road to travel
To Rosario...

Wake her! Oh shake her!
The moon was in the sky,
And early in the morning,
I kissed my love goodbye
For kissing time is over,
And it's time and time to go,
We've a long long road to travel,
To Rosario...

Wake her! Oh shake her!
The moon was in the sky,
And early in the morning,
I kissed my love goodbye
For kissing time is over,
And it's time and time to go,
We've a long long road to travel,
To Rosario.
