Savage Worlds Exilian Game
« on: May 18, 2020, 11:16:38 PM »
So I'm looking to run a Savage Worlds based Play-by-Post RPG on the forums.

Savage Worlds is a simple enough system to get into and I've been playing and running games of it on another site.

There is also this website where you can create characters; https://savaged.us/

Now for the options;

Deadlands - One of the system's flagship settings, originally Weird Western but has branched out into other genres; Noir, Post Apocalypse, SciFi and soon Dark Ages as well. The original Western based setting has recently had a Kickstarter for a new edition.

Mutant Chronicles - I call this '40K Lite'. Far future has seen the Earth abandoned and megacorporations spreading out across the solar system before dark forces were unleashed and pushed back.

Ravenloft - The classic Gothic Horror setting of D&D fame, has a quite nice fan conversion for Savage Worlds.

Weird Wars - Another flagship for Savage Worlds, Weird Wars combined the likes of WW2 with supernatural horror. Think Hellboy or that recent Overlord film.

My vote is deadlands, I think. I'm not hugely a fan of modern warfare for games I play in, the others seem fine but gonzo nineteenth century bizarreness sounds the most fun.
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...

I'm really not into horror as a genre (and wouldn't be interested in playing a horror RPG), but I agree with Jubal, Deadlands sounds like it could be fun

Thirded!

I really like this idea :)
Check out Tourney: The medieval tournament simulator, a PC game I am working on!

Is it Deadlands that has cowboys on dinosaurs as a Thing That Can Happen?

No, the closest it has is reanimated dinosaur skeletons.
You've also got undead cowboys, magic slinging gunmen and crazy mad scientists to contend with.

Deadlands is looking like the winner here.

I'll wait until I get hold of the new PDF, though I do have an adventure in mind to run.

I think I have heard of Deadlands, even though its strange because the American mythical west is not my west (Judge Begbie is not Wyatt Erp, Barkerville is not Deadwood, the Royal Engineers are not buffalo soldiers, a ten-canoe party of Haida is not a Comanche raid).  I never got into that genre like I got into American SF.

My jerkbrain is being particularly awful this month.  I may not be too active or quick to reply.

That's fine, likely to be a little while before this starts.

Mad science and undead and horses are cool.
