Yes, another of these threads!
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...

She's like the Swallow

She's like the swallow that flies so high
Em                                     C           G
she's like a river that never runs dry
    Em                          G               D
she's like the sunshine on the lee shore
    Em             C              G              Em
She loves her love and love is no more
   Em              G             D              Em
She's like the swallow that flies so high
she's like a river that never runs dry
she's like the sunshine on the lee shore
She loves her love and love is no more

'Twas out in the meadow this fair maid did go
a-pickin' the lovely primrose
the more she plucked, the more she pulled
until she got her apron full

She climbed on yonder hill above
To give a rose unto her love
She gave him one, she gave him three
She gave her heart for company

And as they sat on yonder hill
His heart grew hard, so hard and still,
He has two hearts instead of one
She says, young man, what have you done?

How foolish, foolish you must be
To think I love no-one but thee,
This world's not made for one alone,
I take delight in every home

It's out of the roses she made a bed
a stoney pillow for her head
she lay her down, no word she spoke
until this fair maid's heart was broke

She's like the swallow that flies so high
and she's like the river that never runs dry
she's like the sunshine on the lee shore
She loves her love and love is no more

Notes: This is traditional, so lots of variants exist, but the chords here seem to fit OK to more or less Cara Dillon's version of it. The italicised verse isn't in Dillon's version, but is in other versions and is optional for "completion" of the narrative.
