Yea.. it's a shame the right-wingers, xenophobes and whatnot have all adopted St George's flag. I rather like it, but I think it's sadly become a symbol of parties like the BNP who are just evil racist thugs.

Anyway, I must say that the War of Independence would have been one I would have supported methinks. The generation of Washington, Jefferson, etc. Created some of the most enlightened thinking of any governments anywhere, up to this day.

Jefferson just regurgitated Locke. I guess changing one word makes all the difference. If you ever get the chance read Captives by Linda Colley. She explains the divide that emerged between the British in England and those in America. Its facinating tracing the steps to independence. Also, did you see the croatian flag woman?
