Anyway, here's what I found: yet another
BBC article, this time about the nature of the presidency of the United States. The author found an interesting quote: "Great Britain is a republic, with a hereditary president, while the United States is a monarchy with an elective king." I don't think it's entirely true, but it says a lot about the powers and roles of the two positions.
