New info guys. Maybe im misunderstandig the situation, but i think that 9th edition will have 2 ways for play WH. The game coming this month is the skirmish way i think, and the rules for massive battles will come this summer. But maybe im wrong and skirmish is a complete different game, but, 2 starter sets based on fantasy after the world ends seems so strange for me...
I'm trying with a fresh start, summarising the things I have from a very trusted birdy. According to this source, the models released over the next weeks are:
"Glotkin" ... a named character, not a mount option for anybody, the biggest kit to be released (though not as big as a Stompa, as rumoured by others)
Nurgle (?) Chosen ... the uncertainty here is whether they are actually dedicated to Nurgle, or "only" very mutated
A new big mount ... for "multiple types of riders", but most likely to be WoC only
Named character in clampack ... no details here
The upcoming WD points to "Scions of Chaos" next week, which is most likely the first batch of these going on advance orders on the evening of October the 10th. I've been told the Chosen and the clampack character are the week #1 releases. With a bit of uncertainty: the "big mount" for week #2, and Glotkin plus book in week #3.
There is no box like the 40K "Stormclaw" one coming.
So I've been informed that the "Nurgle Blightkings" are infact the unit previously running as "Nurgle Chosen". And the clampack character seems to run by the name Gutrot Spume...
Hey, I'm not a 40K person only, I can also give some info for WFB from time to time!
What the background in the WD tell us:
- I hope you didn't like Kislev, because there is no longer a Kislev.
- Archaon advance have been stalled by Vlad under the order of Nagash (the Empire was in major trouble).
- Nagash goes fighting to unite the Tomb Kings and VC (one of the scenario pictured in WD translate into "the Fall of Settra").
Regarding miniatures/rules:
- Nagash is magnificent, and very very tall thanks to his flying posture (he is supported by a bunch of souls).
- But he's not that massive overall, I have no idea how he managed to reach the 85€ pricetag.
- Not a dual kit.
- No other models that week, but the ones serving under him are hinted at the end of WD for the week after (so I suppose Vlad and that Arkhan dude, note that I know the WFB lore very poorly).
- As people expected, the new magic lore appear to work like Demonology for 40k (except with undead).
- Rules are changing with that extension, 50% lords for example.
Ok ladies and gents this is what I have heard.
The end times will be coming after grey knights which means they will be going up for pre order 23rd, there will be Nagash, Nagash end times campaign book, plastic spirit host, Mannfred and nightgheist / Arkhan the black / Neferata on some undead monster plastic kit.
There will be a battle report in WD, Nagash vs Tomb kings army, Nagash fights them on his own. He is very expensive.
He can be taken in any undead army. Undead are running rampant through the warhammer world and because of this undead units can be taken in any army.
Enjoy.
Thank you guys!
@Silver Wolf: I can't give any detail about the price (but in the region between 16€ - 20€). But I can tell you something about the content of the box
It will include 24 miniatures. 2 x 10-men frame plus 2 x 2-men command frame. In the rank and file frame you will have options to 20 - 30 different heads, including soem spare hats and feathers. There will be arm pairs for front and second rank pikes. if all goes well (this means, that there is enough spare room n the frame!) there will be options for all soldiers on swords and bucklers, spears and maybe some single great swords for first ranks.
The command frame will include one full Maximilian Style armour and one half-armour. Options beside standard bearers and different instruments for musicians will be given as well as options on maces, warhammers, axes, swords and great swords. Also some single arms for command poses and pointing etc.
In the set will be a rather small leaflet (around 20 pages) full of historical background, assembling guides and painting guides. On a single sheet made of light paper, there will be some flags (around 4 - 8 different ones for germans, swiss, french and italians).
No bases will be included as I find that most gamers do bin their bases or do not use them at all. So I can leave them away and keep the price a bit down in that way.
Info: Durthru [WS7 S6 T6 W6 A6] is a SC his rules are pretty solid he has single 2D6 shooting attack at S2 2D6 hits (the old Treeman shooting rule I'm assuming) or he can nominate a enemy single enemy model and force a I test if failed; D6 Wounds no AS. He's very well painted sword and is featured prominently on the cover.
A combo kit for Eternal Guard or whatever their name would be) -they look similar to all the new elf Shadowarrior/Sisters kits with their legs and armor -they have hoods on and halberds/scythes instead.
There's another SC that has the Stubborn Special Rule and 5 attacks as well as when he's a alone he is Unbreakable. He has some magic items that are niche but some are clinical as well. For Example his "shooting attack": at the start of your turn nominate a single enemy model within 18in', they take a S4 hit. If the wound is unsaved and the to wound roll was a 6 they lose -5 WS and I for the rest of the game.
Additionally Forest Spirit gives: +6 Ward Save, ITP, Magical shooting and close combat attacks.
All Woodies have ASF -confirmed.
