Ok, in case this gets made in the future :P, what are some thoughts on the Atlantean battle lines? Should they be more light and projectile-based or more heavy infantry type or something else? I'm pretty set on using the Numidian faction as a base since they are useless anyway, and Carthage will have plenty to deal with when the Atlanteans make shore. :P
Come on SotK I'm counting on you to answer this one. ;)
I always imagine the Atlanteans to be similar to those in Age of Mythology, but that is only because that is the way they have always been in my head since playing that game xD .
That is they have heavy spearmen, supported by lighter swordsmen and guys with maces. Ranged wise their only options were some jav cav and a basic archer, with a standard lancer as cavalry. You would definitely have to mix this up a little though, its too generic like that I think :P .
Interesting; I'm looking up the unit list for AoM, seems Murmillo gladiators are their general infantry unit? :P
Yeah, but that is unimaginative :P . Their "Destroyers" are the heavy spearmen with big shields, and I thought they would be better as a general unit than the building demolishing role they fill in AoM since building destroying isn't really a part of RTW :P .
They should have their own cultural identity I think, maybe influenced by others, but having gladiators as mainline infantry makes them seem like escaped slaves :D .
Indeed, I was thinking that they'd have a mix of stuff going on; like they had been spying on the peoples of the world and took the best ideas from everyone. So their heavy infantry would be triarii/poeni infantry-like but with phalanx capabilities. Then they'd have horse archers (like they do in AoM) and maybe even a Fanatic-type unit. They will definitely get some sort of fire-thrower! ;D
EDIT: THEY HAVE LLAMAS!!!!!!
Sounds amazing :D . That is what I was imagining it to be like.
Edit: Yeah, they do. They must be incorporated somehow :D .
I think this will be the unit listing:
Spoiler
barracks
Town Militia
Atlantean Marines (sort of a lighter legionary type)
Lancearii (heavy spearmen with phalanx)
Katapeltes (ultra heavy mace-men)
stables
Light Cavalry
Turmarii (mounted archers, similar to Persian Cavalry)
Contarii (heavy lancers)
Charioteers (mix of heavy horse and archers with scythed chariots)
ranged
Javelinmen
Arcus (similar to Cretan Archers)
Chieroballista (somewhat better version of repeating ballista)/Onager
Fire Siphon/Heavy Onager
boats
Bireme
Trireme
Fireship
Fanatics will probably be incorporated into a religious building.
Thoughts? :)
Sounds good to me.
What about llamas though?!
I don't know, I'd need a model to be able to use them. Might have to just be mentioned in a building or something. :-\
That's a shame :( .
I will do what I can. ;)
Sounds good! :)
Should be able to squirt out some photographic evidence soon! :)
Been working on the Fire Siphon. 8)
Picspicspics (and possibly code if you get anything exciting working that I can steal?) :P
O'course, Joob. ;)
Also, here you go:

Neat :) Scorp cart a possible shout?
Possibly, but the Chieroballista is pretty powerful, plus the Fire Siphon will give them a good extra oomph artillery-wise. ;)
But otherwise thanks! :) I think I will add on a symbol to their shields once I come up with one (probably something naval?).
Waiting on SotK for the Katapeltes yet. ;)
Schweet! Screenies look great :)

Looking nice :D .
I'll try to get those Katapeltes done this weekend, can't promise anything though since I'm rather busy (21st tomorrow and a year since I started dating the lovely MoD the day after :D ).
Well hell, don't even try promising anything. I couldn't live with myself if I took anything away from your due-celebrations. Congrats, btw! ;)
Haha, modding is a good way to spend a birthday! And thanks :) .
That it is! Welcome! :)
Very nice, I like it. Will you change anything with any other factions?
Thanks. :) I wasn't planning to change anything else, keepin' the old vanilla-ness. ;)
That will be a very fun game to play then!
I hope so. :)
How are them Katapeltes coming along, Saw? ;D
Atlantean Katapeltes takes on 3 Urbans. Alas, he didn't make it, but the Katapeltes split the Romans in half!

Special thanks to Alpha Saw for making these guys! :)
You're welcome :) . Done anything about fire siphons yet btw?
Still working that one out. :/
The Katapeltes look really very cool :)
Must. Keep. Working. On. This.
*cheers CG onwards*
Would this look okay for the Atlanteans' symbol?
I'll just take that as silent approval. :P
Would anyone be interested in writing up a nifty campaign description for these guys? :)
Never mind I found one that will work.
Just need to get those fire siphons to work...
I think that the symbol is ok,but it could be a bit more detailed.
Also, what problems do you have with the fire siphons?
I need to get the effect right. It needs to look like a giant flamethrower. :P
Might a trident work better than an anchor as main symbol? I think it looks good regardless, either works. :)
I thought of that, but then I thought it would be too similar to the "rebels".
Making some interesting progress on the fire siphon. :)
I'm probably going to change the Marines unit to use the Scutarii model instead. I think there is too much Romani going on. Either that or change the heavy spearmen to use the heavy spearmen model that Carthage uses, think dismounted Sacred Band Cavalry. Or both, or neither, but probably just the Marines.
Has anyone actually tried it yet? :/
I have not tried it yet, I'm at MoD's house this week and my Rome disk is at home :( .
Aw, bad timing. :(
I might also play with the Siphon settings some more; if I increase the rate of fire and ammunition while lowering the damage some I should be able to get more of a stream of fire without making it too powerful.
Just out of interest, how did you get the map on the faction select screen looking so similar to the vanilla ones?
I forget exactly what options I set, but you just add the faction color over the plain map in a layer and set it to 'color overlay' or something, and possibly make it more opaque, then gauss the edges properly and add an outer glow.
Where is the plain map though? :P
You have to make it. :P
Take Parthia and Spain and combine the empty halves. ;)
Genius!
