With a few new members joining I thought I would make this thread so everyone can introduce themselves to each other and we can form a bit of a community :)
I am ahowl11, I have been modding since the summer of 2011. I have had my ups and downs in the modding world but both have taught me a lot about how to be successful making a mod. I am passionate about the era from Alexander to the reign of Trajan, although I'm sure I could develop interest for the Greek Age or Fall of Rome. I can do just about everything when it comes to modding here is a little something that could describe my modding ability:
Coding/Text Editing - Above Average
3d modeling - Average
2d art - Below Average
Mapping - Below Average
Scripting - Below Average
I mainly implement things from other mods, of course with permission and if someone of expertise is available I usually hope that they can help me with more advanced things such as advanced coding (dealing with buildings/items), making new units (I can mix/match and make UIs), or mapping (it's a hassle for an impatient person such as myself) and scripting (I really have no clue what to do). In the past I have been successful. As long things are organized and goals are set in place, progress should always be moving forward regardless of speed.
In real life, I am a student living in the USA. I am studying Communications and Management. I also have a job. I have a passion for sports, music, and of course modding.
I'm anxious to start working with you all. Welcome to exilian and the RTR Project! :)
I may as well join in :P
I'm Jubal, I founded this forum and am currently its content director, I've been modding Rome TW since early 2007. I'm British and a second year history student at Cambridge, I bounce around a lot in terms of historical interests but I'm probably mostly a medievalist with particularly Byzantines, ancient Carthage, and demographic/economic history as points of specialism. I'm a big fantasy geek as well, I do a lot of writing/designing worlds and currently run the Cambridge Tolkien Society. :P
In terms of modding I'm a text editor, mapper and 2d artist - I'm a fairly proficient writer and proof reader, can code fine, my artwork is less good but still generally acceptable. Modding credits for RTW are team leading Warhammer, Narnia, and A Game of Colleges, a couple of minimods like Cities Alive, and helping and advising other teams. :)
How fitting that my first post should also be a self-introductory post. ;) Thanks, ahowl, for including me in this project. I'm from Ontario, Canada, and my passions include creative writing and history (I went to school for the former, and a bit of the latter). My interests are pretty wide ranging, so I'll just say that I'm most at home in European ancient-to-medieval timeframe with a healthy dose of early modern and nineteenth century. So, yeah. Like Jubal, I've long been interested in the Byzantines. I've also been an avid Total War player from the early days. Rome Total Realism 6 was my first experience with a mod, so I'm thrilled to have a part in the making of this latest incarnation, even if it's only a small part. My strengths are mostly in the text-editing and research departments, but I'd like to learn some basic coding and/or scripting. I'll also hopefully contribute an AAR or two as the game evolves. :)
Hello All, I'm b257, I am an acquaintance of ahowl from TWC and have been beta testing this mod since it was first introduced. My Modding skills are non existent but I am trying my hardest to learn how, though my poor vision makes reading script difficult :P
b257: are you short-sighted or long-sighted? And what sort of text editor are you using? There must be editors available where you can blow the text up a bit bigger...
Cyprian: Welcome to the Exilian, make yourself at home etc :)
Hello, I am Fëanáro, and I have been invited here by ahowl from Total War Center. I am from Greece, and dwell in the city of Pireaus.
I joined mostly because of my love for pre-modern History (I myself "specialize" in the history of the Eastern Roman Empire). I have always been a stickler for historical accuracy and realism which attracts me to this kind of mod. I do not have any skills with modding, but I can always serve as a tester. However, I happen to have some experience with mods due to my position as manager for the ModDB page of Fourth Age: Total War.
I also happen to be a great fan of JRR Tolkien's writings (As can no doubt be gleaned from my username).
@Jubal: Oh no my good Sir I have neither, In my youth I had two eye surgery's to repair the muscles in the my eyes to halt a chronic migraine problem I have been having. While it worked my eyes are prone to hurting after awhile while looking at text on the computer screen's and tablets. Happens to everyone but it happens far more quickly with me. I've tried dimming the monitor and expanding the text but my eyes either get tired or sore rather quickly, So my doctor says to go easy when it comes to reading on monitors and tablets, But I can still read paperback books and play rome with no problem, which is Why I content myself with being a beta tester.
It's so refreshing to see others fascinated with the History of the Eastern Roman Empire. I myself am also fond of them, and also the Indo-Greek's as well. Shame how they are ignored in mainstream media.

Hey guys. I'm xsithspawnx, and I live in Kansas in the US. I'm a college student and I spend way too much of my time reading/watching/listening to/or playing all things history related. As far as my modding skills go I have some very basic text editing experience and as much knowledge of the game engine as one can get through 5-6 years of playing RTW and it mods, and altering minor things on my own here and there. I'll be beta testing and helping with research, and hopefully picking up a skill or two that may come in handy in the actual modding process.
My favorite historical subject is also the Byzantines, but like I said I'm interested in just about anything history related. I mainly focus on ancient and classical history, the biggest exception being the later Eastern Roman Empire of course, but I'm always super excited to find a topic that I'm ignorant off and to learn something new. As far as my other hobbies go I read plenty of fantasy, some sci-fi, historical fiction, and whatever else catches my eye. I play a wide variety of non-strategy games including shooters (Halo), RPG's (FF series, The Elder Scrolls, and Fallout to name a few), platformers (Rayman, Crash, Mario, Sonic), and too many more to name. Basically I'm a self procaimed nerd and proud of it. I'm happy to be on the team and hopefully we can all make one awesome mod.
Yay more Greeks and Americans! ;D
If you love RTW and Byzantines then Exilian is definitely the place for you. :)
Welcome all!
@Feanaro
Could you enlighten us about the Indo-Greeks? If you know enough about them, maybe make a thread about them? I know little, of the regions east of Mesopotamia and would like every area of the map to be culturally relevant :)
@xsithspawnx
It's funny that you are a college student in Kansas. From Fall '11 - Spring '13 I was a student at Manhattan Christian College and played baseball there. I know of most the schools in Kansas. Where do you attend? I loved the people in Kansas, not the weather as I am an California/Arizona boy!
I'm glad you all have made it here, I think that we will be a great team of guys who share a passion for History and Realism in the RTW game. Having you guys aboard keeps me motivated to continue this thing as working solo can be depressing at times!
Hopefully a few more will join in the future.

I was actually referring to the Eastern Romans. I know exceedingly little about the Indo-Greeks.
Oh my mistake haha
Introduce myself? Okay let's start the steamroll of bad grammar and introducing! I'm from Europe, Lithuania (I am sure you never heard of it ;) ) . What else to say.... oh right I like everything about history (from 3000 BC to 1044 AD). Modding wise I have NO I mean NO knowlege of modding, but I'm trying to learn (slowly). My familiarity with TW is about 9 years. What do I need to say more? I think I'm done ;) I hope you will have the skills to decode this.

I completely know what you mean. I spend way too much time trying to enlighten people on forums and youtube comment sections who have either read Gibbon or more likely just bought into the stained image of Byzantium that his work has perpetuated.
Practically nobody actually bothers to read Gibbon. It was probably quite heavy going even for Gibbon to read. :P
But yeah, as you guys might notice all the staff titles on this site are basically adapted from the Byzantine court. ;D

Indeed, I despise Gibbon's works in regards to the Eastern Romans. Greatest of the Medieval Kingdoms in my opinion but alas they suffered the same fate of all empires and Eventually Collapsed. Wouldn't it be grand to make an RTR mod based around the Period of Heraclius and the Muslim Conquests, to me that time period was when Eastern Rome was at it's historical Zenith in my Opinion, The two great empires of Late Antiquity, the sassanids Conquered by the Arab Invaders and the Romans of the East fighting for their very Survival and inadvertently the Survival of Christian Europe as we know it.
Hello, I'm from the U.S. state of Virginia. :P Uhh, I play Total War mods. I honestly don't have a favorite period of history and I like almost all periods almost equally. I have very minor knowledge of modding, I've dabbled in it in the past but that's about it. Also I was invited here by ahowl. Good to meet all of you.
Good to have you here Sigma. Feel free to test the BETA and give your analysis in the BETA testing thread :)

Welcome Ciciro! Feel free to test out the BETA and give your analysis :)
Hi guys!
My name is Cosmin and I'm raised in the dark forests of Transylvania, Romania! I'm a RTR fan cos it represents my fighting instincts and trust me most of us here have lived the RTR reality in our past lifes. We are all warriors on one way or another.
At this moment i live in Stockholm Sweden, I'm 32 years old, and i work as a engineer on the cities electricity network. I play rugby on my spare time and like to collect latest electronic junk models out there. Just recently i purchases some floor speakers that have ruin my income for the next 2 years. I'm also into history a lot, (mostly my peoples ancient knowledge, the Dacians) i meditate and I'm a spiritual seeker. How all this is connected i let you put it together.
Playing RTR for some time i got very disappointed of the ROME II game witch i bought a special edition packaged by the way and want to improve the old Rome games because they are more fun playing. I believe the best mode out there is Rome platinum edition 1.9 because is kept simple and i believe this is very important to this game. RS II is maybe the best all-round but there are to many fighting units for each faction and that ruins the reality of the game. For exemple i believed a barbarian faction should be made of a war band unit (basic short spears ) an infantry unit (swords), a special unit (like falxmen as tracians) and an elite unit+ 1 archer unit + 1 or 2 missile units and 2 different cavely units. Thats a total of max 9 units and the game will be more fun in my opinion. No special design for units or something like that. a spear, a shield and a armour to the elite units.
Well i hope i can help Andy (ahowl11) with something and wherever he ask I will try to do it. I don't have time programming and stuff but i can put together already made puzzle and give feedbacks. I wish him all the best in this, and a big HI to you all ROME TR family. Where is heart there is joy and fun, and a lot of people is putting all their hearts in this game!
Cosmin (alias Cozmicus)
Hello all,
My name is Bernardo and I'm from Portugal. I'm a huge RTR fan, probably my favourite historical mod tied with Europa Barbarorum, and I love history, regardless of the era. It's funny because my interest in history started with Rome I Total War and I thought that the game was completely historical accurate until I discover the mods. Needless to say, I learned a lot of history since then.
In real life, I'm an university student in Lisbon's Law School. My hobbies are sports (I play rugby in the university's team), hunting, fishing and pretty much everything it has to do with nature. I'm also, like many others here, a big fan of Tolkien.
I pretty new to modding and I suspect ahowl (Andy?) only asked me to join because I have 3dsMax and he needs help doing the unit cards. Nevertheless, I would do my best to learn fast and, hopefully, become somewhat of a modder one day.
Welcome to the Fun Cozmicus and Bercor :)

Don't be silly, that's just one of the reasons :P, Truth be told beta testers are very much needed for this mod. Since it just started it was just me and a few others testing the game so most likely bugs slipped by us. The more beta testers the mod has the more bugs the team will find and the more polished the mod will be at released. Plus I'm learning a lot too, It's not just about modding units and stuff, it's also about balance, so you'll learn a lot :)

Yes my name is Andy haha. I don't mind being called by my name but I'm used to ahowl on the forums :)
welcome Cozmicus and Bercor. Yes Bercor, I do need you for Unit Cards but you will certainly not be restricted to that, ideas, testing, and a lot of other things are needed as well.
Hi everybody! I'm Mirionis9. I am from Larissa, Greece. I've studied history and archaeology and I'm mostly interested in the hellenistic era. My modding skills are below average, but I'm willing to contribute in any possible way, propably as a historian.
Welcome Mirionis!
Greetings, I live in Italy and I'm an undergraduate student of ancient-medieval history. I'm happy to give my contribution.

Greetings all!
By invite of ahowl from TWCenter, I am here as an enthusiastic beta tester for the new Realism project! So let me introduce mahself!
My name is Casey, I live in Oklahoma, USA, and spend my time as a general layabout, wastrel, philosopher and ancient military strategist. I love reading, writing, drawing, video games, hiking etc. I also wash dishes at a burger joint.
I have no experience in modding any Total War game, but I have modded the Elder Scrolls series of games, so learning how to mod Rome isn't immediately daunting, I could potentially learn.
I'd like to mention that I'm new to the Realism mod series, being currently engaged in my first campaign in fact, in RTR VII as Sparta. I am enjoying it tremendously and I am very excited to be a beta tester for a new project!
Welcome, you're enthusiasm is what prompted me to ask you ha. I believe Egypt and the Julii are still in need of testing.
;D
Sounds perfect, I will start a Julii campaign tonight.
Salvete commillitones,
I was just hired by awhol as well ;D I'm a historical advisor on R2TR and have been on TWC since late 2011 (?). Actually I signed up just after RTR VII came out and have been quite active on the RTR forum since then. I'm studying in my Master at a small university in Germany next to the mythic Teutoburg Forest (actually there was fog hanging over the forest today when we had a seminary and I remarked to a mate that it's like what Varus would have seen ;) ).
For now I'll need to look around a bit here and see which progress has been made thus far ;)

Hello Fellow Modders,
I am phalanx_man and I am new to this forum. I am Serbian by birth and a Canadian citizen. I currently live in Mexico but am about to move to Michigan, USA for a new job in the coming weeks. I have been a Mechanical Engineer since graduating in 1990 and my specialty is working at power plants in a commissioning and field service capacity. I have always been interested in ancient military history from a young age. My favorite period spans from 490 BC (the Awakening of the Athenians), through the campaigns of Alexander and the period of the Successors to roughly the end of BC (the beginning of the Roman empire), although I have lately also become interested in the early Roman Empire and the span of the Eastern Roman Empire as well. If reincarnation is real then I must have been a Greek in those times because I love the Classical and Hellenistic periods and everything Greek in general. I have particularly followed the military career of Alexander the Great and my greatest historical interest regarding battles are the fascinating duels between the Macedonian Phalanx and the Roman Legion. In 2010 my wife gave birth to our first child, a boy, who we named Alexander in honour of the Greatest Man That Ever Lived.
I have been an avid fan of RTW since January 2009 when I first played the game. Since then, I was introduced to Rome Total Realism which, for me, took the game to a new level with its' realistic battles, skins, historical unit additions and historical backgrounds. This prompted me in 2010 to do my own research on ancient arms and armour and, after reading many works of both ancient and modern historians, I made my own personal mod of RTR which I have been playing and tweaking ever since.
My modding has mostly focused on text editing of various files that were necessary to do my RTR mod and I can say I have pretty much examined or modded about half of all the text files in the Data subdirectory. The files I have spent the most time with are EDU, DMB, EDB, descr_Formations, ED_ancillaries and ED_character_traits. I haven't had much luck modding banners as I had hoped – something for a future time perhaps. I am here because my work on EDU had been noticed by ahowl11 and he has graciously asked me to contribute my findings and the EDU file that I modded to hopefully make for even more realistic battles. Thank you ahowl11 for involving me in this and I hope that the other members herein will find my work useful.
Please refer to the following link in this forum that will outline the work I had done on EDU that has been used in this mod.
http://exilian.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2865.new#new
It is a pleasure to meet all of you,
Kind Regards.
Phalanx_man.
Welcome phalanx_man, your EDU will really make this mod something unique :)
Why are all the Newbies in the one place of Exilian that I visit the least? :( I don't have to introduce myself do I?
You can if you want to! Maybe some of the members would be interested in other places of exilian? Although, Jubal already posted info here about the other places.
Oh, OK. Well, I'm The Khan, as you can see, and I don't have Rome Total War so that's why I don't come here often. I mainly have around The Jolly Boar Inn.
Just signed up, hi ;)
After playing RTW for a few years, I stopped for a bit and when I started, it seems I couldn't keep out of modding. The last modding work I did was on the Roma Surrectum II EDB, doing mostly Economy tweaks/balancing and implementing stuff before the initial release. I also nearly joined in the effort for the RTR project that followed Fate of Empires (which I played a lot too).
This'll be great !
I'm themilo and I hail from the distant land known as the Netherlands, I have a love for both history and strategy games so the total war series is right up my alley, I don't know how to mod games but I do really like to play mods.
Welcome, you two ;) That sounds impressive, Alavaria!
And themilo, the Netherlands are far from distant from where I live ;D Have you also been hired for the history department then?

Hehe, probably for beta-testing. For that there are heaps of people available.
My name is Aquila, and ahowl11 (somehow) recruited me for history, research, discussion, and whatever I may end up having enough competence to accomplish for the mod.
This is the first time I have done any sort of modding.
Welcome, new folk :)
Hello :)
Hi guys. So I'm not technically new, seeing as I made my intro on the first page, but my life has been pretty crazy recently. Right after I joined the team I got a new job with a whole new sleep schedule and have had very little time to slow down and test since, thus why you've probably seen almost nothing of me on here. I just wanted to drop by and let everyone know that I'm still alive and ready to get back to testing now that things are starting to calm down a bit for me. Hello again to everyone that was here when I joined, and nice to meet you to those who've joined since I dropped off the face of the Earth. It's awesome to see this team growing!
Hoplite of Ilis here. Happy to join. I'll be doing some skinning.
Welcome back, sith, and welcome to Exilian, Hoplite :)
This looks like the right place to start.
Hello, everyone. I'm an old RTW player, very interested in modding.
I used to lurk around a lot of forums with the user name "neo_deus" (I think I was registered here too, but I can't remember my password, so decided to just create a new account), and even started my own modding project a couple of years ago.
I was having a look around here, you guys seem to have a dedicated team and are getting stuff done. That's awesome. Keep up the good work, everyone!
Welcome again! I seem to remember you as neo_deus. I could probably get your password reset if you wanted to pick that one back up?
Sure, Comrade, if you can. Cheers.
Welcome neo_deus! It's good to have you back!
It's nice to be back too, mate!
New people! sort of... too many RTW people for my liking. Maybe it's just because I don't even have the game.
Just buy it on steam. $12.99 for RTW, BI, and ALX. Join the party dude, it's been rockin since '04!
I'm sure these folks have other interests besides total war, I have found many of the other threads in this forums to be rather entertaining and enjoyable to read. I find the Storyteller's hall to be most delightful if you are an aspiring writer like me.
Well, if you feel like doing/posting any writing we'd love to see it :)

Truth be told, I could use some help for research in a story I'm working on set on a fictional world in a period similar to early late antiquity, But I don't want to send this thread off topic but if you can PM the forum where I might be able to find help in this matter that would be great :)
YourStepDad here, hello! ;D
Not much to say, I'm an avid Total War/Mount & Blade fan and a history enthusiast, with a particular liking for early modern era (1450 - 1700), as well as Middle Ages and Dark Ages. And of course, I would never say no to antiquity either, which is why I'm here! :)
I've joined because I was asked to test the RTR grand campaign, but I may stick around if I like it. ;)
Cheers!
We hope you do stick around YSD, also you will find many here at exilian who play M&B so welcome!
Welcome! I think you'll fit in nicely around here.
Dad? Is that you? Wait, never mind. You're just a step.
Welcome and make yourself at home :)
Hello, I've been recruited to tinker a little with traits and ancillaries, and maybe some other stuff. I've done some minor work for other RTW mods in the past, but I smelled an opportunity to have my own department all to myself, so here I am.
Other than that, I live in Germany and am undergoing training to become a translator/interpreter.
Welcome to Exilian, do look round the site & make yourself at home :)
Hello everyone! I'm The Blade That Was Broken (you can call be TBTWB for short :P). I'm a proud Canadian, and I (obviously) live in Canada, North America. My specialty is everything from a mess on paper to a fancy sculpture in Milkshape. I also know a lot of Roman history as well, as well as Chinese history (not quite useful for this mod, but very helpful for my other project). I'm currently also working as a Modeller/Skinner in the Rise of Three Kingdoms mod for Medieval II. I'll be working as a modeler and skinner here to ensure a solid release models.
And that's about it, thanks for reading :P

Hi Everyone, I'm from Green Bay WI. I've been modding games for a long time especially Rome Total War. I have experience working in a mod Team also. I was one of three people that did the original Star Trek Gal Civ 2 mod. Anything I can help with please let me know. :)
Someone else who has modded CIV 2? Best game. :D
Welcome. :)
Welcome han891! I will send you a message
Hi guys, hollowfaith here. I'm glad to help you guys out with your mod in the lull for RTR2. A little background about myself... I hail from Buffalo, NY here in the U.S., I've composed music for RTR:VII (my first cinematic orchestral score I've ever written), a Warhammer 40K mod for Fallout 3 called WARP, another untitled Warhammer 40K project, I also created the Drum & Fife Mod for Empire: Total War, won an award for best music mini mod at TWcenter for that one, and I am composing music for an upcoming webcast animated show that will be debuting on youtube soon! I'm glad to be here. :)
I also can texture somewhat, and I am learning 3D Modeling in Blender. I also know how to mess around in the text files so I can hopefully help out more than just adding music. :gimli:
It's good to have an RTR VII member on board with us, welcome! :) I'm looking forward to the new music!

(Ah lol we have a bit of an international team building here dont we?)
@Bercor
bro that was trippy crap right there i just stared at the screen for like 5 mins before i realised what happened
Yeah, I can do amazing things on the internet. This is, usually, the reaction of someone when he sees me doin' it:

That's quite a lame, old trick Bercor- only the young ones are falling into that kind of trap!
Shadow, my padawan, you still have a lot to learn to resist the dark power of the dark ones on our indeed international team here ;D

i love that starwars referance, but im here to say quickly my ISP has cut me off im borrowing my friends for this, i will be back ASAP just dont think im abandoning you guys! BT wants bite me in my ass recently and boy have i felt it. started off as internet bandwidth warnings and now they cut me off. hopefully will be less than a week, but it can vary depending on what they brought down on me. Sorry my friends for leaving you for now but i vow to be back!
A friend of mine has a T-shirt with that on it ;D
No problem Shadow, my internet also broke down between last night and today ;)
Welcome, Shadow :) Do look round the rest of the forum, make yourself at home, and PM me or another staffer with any questions you may have!
Also, I made a new debate topic that will probably be of interest to many here: http://www.exilian.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2983
Greetings everyone! Ahowl has brought you to my knowledge a couple of weeks ago. As I told him, I have some experience from long ago with other mods, and know a fair bit about the graphical stuff, 2d and 3d. I can also help you with general research, specially regarding the 'Orient', which is the field I've researched the most. Though I don't have as much time as I had back then, I'll be glad to help you out as I'm also an accuracy freak most of the time :)
Welcome Tekowiat! It's good to finally see you here!
Even more! O.o Does ahowll get any triumph points for all of this activity?
You have a strange obsession with triumph points, Khan.
I think I should only get some kind of recognition, if a certain number of these people stick around the forum like Bercor, b257 and Mausolos. The rest come and go and don't post much.
I should also point out that nobody has been bothering to nominate themselves for triumph points related to this so practically none have been handed out; it's a system that actually needs to be actively used. :P
On a different but related note, ahowl, you should patronise a couple more of these guys.
I'll give it some time but it has crossed my mind a few times
Hey, patronized guy Nº7891249832 here. Regrettably, I'm one of those that comes and goes, but as long as you give personal requests for specific help, you'll eventually have someone willing to do it. You probably know that already, but, you know, just my two staters.
Well, the UI's for the current units, vanilla reskinned, are all done. We will be adapting new units, and creating a fair bit of others, so they'll need UI's. Right now, the shorth term plans are exposed in the 0.6-1.0 thread. Feel free to help out in anything you feel like.
Hi All, i am an old RTR player :-) , it's one of my all time favourite mods ever!
Hello and welcome Marku :)
Hello there! I'm Jack of "Jackasaurus" to my friends and the "video guy" to Ahowl11. I dont mod Rtw, I dont mod Med 2 total war. In fact I dont mod at all. Instead I take what already has been modded and I immortalise it through video. Quite the hobby. Expensive too. Now with all that egotistical stuff said I am looking forward to becoming a good member of this forum. I will be on as often as I can. I'm sure that many friends will be made.
Hi Jack, good to have you aboard. I "tink" the same :P.
good to have you aboard! I've always wanted a video guy :)
Im back guys i didnt abandon you i swear! my internet company took me down for "piracy and neglect for terms and agreements" and had a court battle, stated by law in my country using a torrenting system is not illegal and how mass downloading and sharing via that way isnt either blah blah eventually breaking through with only a restriction on bandwidth for the rest of my contract with them yay so much fun. Im sorry i disappeared really did expect it to be for 1/2 weeks but it seems they were eager to really drop me to the ground and beg for mercy this time. I hope all has been going well here and lemme know if there's something i can do. and thanks to the people of the torrents it stayed alive even when i was gone how nice of them! lol as of today 28 people were keeping it alive before i came back. makes me so happy when people work together =)
Wow that is crazy, but it's good to see you back! How many downloads do we have from the torrent?
You cant track the amount of downloaders in total however you can look at the IP's and see how is downloading data from you, maximum at once was 7 but as you can guess there is at least 3x that amount as we have that many people helping me with the torrent but in terms of accurate numbers i cant give you one without invading peoples privacy and forcing the total amount by tracing all previous connections, easily do-able but i dont fancy hacking the torrent users to be frank, but lets put it this way there must of been at least 30/40 now :)
Wow that's really bad. But over here in Germany they take all sorts of half- legal activity on the internet very serious as well, someone was fined 2000 € for downloading just one or two songs illegaly. Not saying you are criminal, though! ;) Good to have you back anyway.
Hi, all. I'm back from the proverbial dead (cyberly speaking), and ready to jump in with the next phase of testing. Ahowl, I sent you my email over on TWC so I can get the latest files from dropbox. Not sure whether that Pidgin program will work for me, but I'll let you know.
Well, I suppose I had better say 'Hi'
I'm a greybeard grognard and haunter of various TW mods from time to time.
A great fan of the first RTW, especially the Alex expansion, although Med 2 runs it a very close second.
Still love to play them all with various mods.
Beta tested for quite a few of them, including the earlier iterations of RS2
Gotta say I am very disappointed with Rome 2.....What a great shame they couldn't have got a cleaner launch. :-\
Balla. ::) 8)
hi i'm formerly quetz some of you may remember, anyhow, I have just started playing r2 and am modding again. have made 3 skyrim mods [user amorphos098] and will now start r2 modding.
firstly I don't know zip about modding this game, but mainly I will just need to get at the skins, ...?
my first priority is changing the Britons, I hate the look they got now. after that I am at your disposal. pm me here or over at twc.
cheers!
Hello and welcome :), Loved your work for Sparta Total war. Though this mod is on the Rome 1 engine, not Rome 2 ???
Yup, Rome 1. You are aware of that, right?
I am Principe. I came over from the Total war Forums when I heard that this mod was being created. I can write unit descriptions and building descriptions, but I am the worst person who ever modded a game. I guess that disqualifies me, but since I have some free time and someone said you needed Unit descriptions, I wanted to help you out in any way I can.
Hello Principe, what is your name on TWC? We are happy to see you join our project!
Ownager. You invited me I think? I'm glad to see such a warm welcome. I'll get to work as soon as I can.
Ah I did, that was some time ago!
Welcome :)
Just one last thing. Where should I submit my descriptions?
I think the best solution would be to submit your descriptions directly into the correct files inside our SVN Repository. This way the changes would be immediate to everyone :)
I was thinking it would be better if I sent it to one of the higher ups first so they could see it and edit it. Anyone in particular I could send it to?
I don't think offloading work like that would be effective. There's no "higher ups" here to do all work. If we all did it like that, then in the end, one guy at the top of the chain would have it very rough, since all the work piled on top of him.
If you do your SVN checkout, you can open the text description files such as RTR/data/text/export_units.txt, the entries should already be in there. For coordination, you can always talk to ahowl11 about what you added, or simply link up the unit descriptions into export_descr_units.txt yourself and then SVN Commit. :)
I beg your pardon, I may have given you the wrong impression.
I am willing to do as much work as I have to on the unit descriptions. The only thing is that I know RTR has a high standard, and I don't want to provide anything below the expectations. When I said higher-ups, I meant someone who could tell me if there was anything wrong or anything to change. I don't want to force my work on others.
Well, then create a thread and post your descriptions there, so we can see them :).
Yeah, that sounds great, you can post them for viewing in a thread. :) If anyone notices something out of place, they can just comment on the thread ;)
Seems like you all figured that out :)
Hi. How are things?
Hello, things are going as well as we can make it :)

Excellent. So, where does this project stand, precisely? I'm curious about how far along it is and what needs doing. Ahowl invited me over, so I'm being nosy. 8)
Hey Quinn!!
Go ahead and browse these forums, make sure you check out the RTR Dev Walkthrough to get svn etc
Hi again, just to say that I am on board with what you guys are doing, sounds awesome, I always wanted rtw1 to be better and I hate r2 and the warscape engine generally. :D
I will be making loads of graphics/skins asap form now on!!!!
Oh my god we have a graphic/skin person now!!!! I was not expecting this, we must plan!!!!
Welcome, everyone! :)
is that jubal of the southern realms mod?
That would be me, yes :)
I loved playing that mod back in the day. :) Good memories.
holy legendary mother of balls!your a great modder,i still play southern realms to this very day
I attempted at restarting it at one stage, porting it over to Warband, but that didn't work out. :P
