Update time again: Liberapay is working again, now using PayPal and Stripe. I've linked our Liberapay account to our PayPal account, so we should now be able to accept donations by both methods, and I've updated the opening post accordingly. I'm hoping to get a Stripe account functional soon, but this depends on finding a human being at Stripe who understands what the legal framework for UK unincorporated associations is, and particularly the fact that we don't have a company registration number or a tax identity.

One thing I'd like to suggest here: a blog named A Collection of Unmitigated Pedantry. It's written by Bret Devereaux, an American military historian who is also a fantasy and SF fan. Much of the content is short series of posts on single topics: recent ones have included analyses of the battles of Helm's Deep and the Pelennor Fields as portrayed in The Lord of the Rings (both films and both), and an overview of food production in pre-industrial societies. The writing is accessible and informative for the non-specialist, and laced with a certain dry humour. Posting is weekly, and it looks as if there is some reasonably civil discussion in the post comments.

And I just forgot entirely, and didn't check e-mail or the forum any time after about lunchtime yesterday. I'm sorry, especially as I was the one who said it would be a good idea in the first place. I seem not to be doing too well at one-off events at the moment, and I'm not yet properly in the habit of setting a reminder for myself.

People who write fantasy TV shows can get the continuity perfect - but with an effect like quantum uncertainty, so that removing every last imperfection takes an infinite length of time, and so the show is never released.
